A BEAUTIFUL LIFE IS A CONNECTED LIFE

The passage from Psalm 133 is truly a beautiful and inspiring one. It speaks of the joy and blessing that comes from unity among brothers and sisters. The imagery used in the Message translation paints a vivid picture of the anointing oil flowing down Aaron’s beard and the dew on Mount Hermon. It emphasizes the importance of harmony and connection among believers, highlighting the beauty and wonder that comes from such unity.

The message of a Beautiful Life being a Connected Life is a powerful one. It challenges us to reflect on our relationships with others, both within the church and in our families. The passage from Acts of the Apostles chapter four further reinforces this idea of unity and connection among believers. It reminds us that a life lived in harmony with others is a life that is truly blessed by God.

As we reflect on the message of unity and connection, we are reminded of the importance of fostering good relationships with those around us. The call to ask our neighbors if they are living a beautiful life serves as a reminder to examine our own actions and attitudes towards others. It is a call to strive for harmony and peace in our relationships, both within the church and in our families. Ultimately, the message of Psalm 133 and the sermon on a Beautiful Life being a Connected Life challenges us to seek unity and connection with others, recognizing that it is in these relationships that we find true blessing and fulfillment.

It is truly a wonderful and beautiful sight when brothers and sisters are able to get along harmoniously. This unity among believers is likened to costly anointing oil, which plays a crucial role in facilitating the move of the Spirit of God within the community. The cardinal scripture for this year, Acts of the Apostles Chapter 4, emphasizes the importance of unity and connection among believers. When we examine verses 32 and 33 of this chapter, we see a powerful illustration of how great Grace manifests itself when there is unity and harmony among believers.

The passage from Acts Chapter 4 depicts a scenario where the early apostles faced numerous challenges and persecutions, yet they remained united in heart and soul. This unity allowed them to share everything in common and bear witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus with great power. The presence of great Grace among them was a direct result of their unity and vital connection with one another. This serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of maintaining harmonious relationships within the community of believers.

As we reflect on the message conveyed in Acts Chapter 4, we are prompted to consider how we measure the value of life. It is emphasized that influence holds greater importance than affluence when assessing the worth of one’s life. A truly beautiful life is one that exerts a positive impact on others, and this influence can only be achieved through meaningful and vital connections with those around us. Therefore, the key to living a fulfilling and impactful life lies in fostering unity, harmony, and vital connections with our brothers and sisters in faith.

The significance of affluence lies in its ability to empower individuals to become influential in a positive manner. When affluence is utilized to enable individuals to become positive influencers, it serves a meaningful purpose. It is important to understand that affluence alone does not guarantee purposeful influence. The true value of affluence is realized when it is harnessed to empower others and create a positive impact.

2

It is essential to recognize that some of the most influential figures in history did not possess great affluence. Mother Theresa, known for her immense influence, was not a person of affluence but rather a person of influence. Similarly, Nelson Mandela, one of the most influential figures in South Africa and beyond, was not the richest person in his country or continent. Their impact and influence were not derived from affluence but from their actions and dedication to making a positive difference in the world.

Even in the case of Christ, who is considered one of the most influential figures to have walked the earth, affluence did not define his influence. While he may have enjoyed some affluence, as indicated by the mention of his robe, his true influence stemmed from his teachings and actions. The example of Christ, as well as other influential figures throughout history, serves as a reminder that true influence is not dependent on affluence, but rather on the impact one has on others and the world. Influence is not measured by material wealth, but by the positive change and inspiration one brings to others.

To achieve balance in life, it is essential not to chase after things that are not meant for us. Instead, we should focus on the concept of affluence from the perspective of influence. Influence, ladies and gentlemen, is a powerful force that can only come into play when there are strong and genuine connections. Throughout the Bible, we can find various metaphors that illustrate this idea. For example, in Isaiah 61, verse 3 talks about being appointed to give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. This metaphorical language emphasizes the transformation that can occur when we are connected to a higher power.

The metaphor of being called “trees of righteousness” in the Bible signifies two important lessons that we can learn from trees. Firstly, trees are planted in specific locations to draw sustenance and life from their surroundings. Similarly, as human beings, we are planted by a divine force, but sometimes we uproot ourselves due to our own desires. It is crucial to be aware of where we are planted and to seek guidance from a higher power to ensure that we are in the right place. Secondly, trees are interconnected entities, just like how Jesus described the relationship between himself, God, and his followers in John 15. This interconnectedness highlights the importance of staying connected to a source of strength and guidance to bear fruit in life.

In essence, the key to living a balanced and fruitful life lies in understanding the significance of being planted in the right place and maintaining strong connections with a higher power. By recognizing the importance of influence over affluence and the power of vital connections, we can derive strength and guidance from our surroundings. Just as trees draw sustenance from their environment and remain connected to the source of life, we too must strive to stay rooted in our faith and connected to a higher power to bear fruit and fulfill our purpose in life.

It is emphasized that the church is not merely a place where people gather for religious services, but rather a family where individuals belong. This perspective is crucial in understanding the essence of the church as a community of believers who are interconnected and supportive of one another. The analogy of being trees of righteousness planted by God highlights the vital connection that each member has with one another, drawing life and strength from these relationships.

The comparison of a mobile phone to human connections is insightful in illustrating the importance of being able to connect with others. Just like a mobile phone needs a signal to function, humans require meaningful connections to thrive and fulfill their purpose. Without the capacity to connect, individuals may feel isolated and unable to reach their full potential, much like a phone that cannot make calls or access its full range of features.

The fundamental need for connection is deeply ingrained in human nature, as evidenced by God’s recognition of this need in the creation of Eve as a companion for Adam. The concept of connection goes beyond mere social interaction; it is a fundamental aspect of human existence that contributes to a sense of belonging and fulfillment. Recognizing and nurturing these connections is essential for leading a meaningful and fulfilling life, as humans are inherently designed to thrive in relationships with others.

When an individual loses the ability to connect with others, they may find themselves feeling dysfunctional and isolated. This lack of connection can lead to irrational decisions and a sense of vagueness in both physical and spiritual aspects of life. In the scripture of Joshua chapter 7, we are presented with the story of Achan, who lived a disconnected life and faced the consequences of his actions. Achan’s disconnected state led him to make decisions that were not well-thought-out, ultimately resulting in his downfall.

The story of Achan serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the importance of authentic connections in our lives. Without genuine connections, individuals may find themselves feeling lost, disconnected, and unable to make rational decisions. Achan’s sin, which even the devil found enviable, showcases the dangers of living a life devoid of meaningful connections. When one reaches a point where they are unable to connect with others, they may find themselves isolated and surrounded by invisible walls that prevent others from reaching out to them.

It is crucial to recognize the significance of maintaining authentic connections in our lives to avoid falling into a state of dysfunctionality and isolation. Achan’s story in Joshua chapter 7 serves as a powerful reminder of the consequences of living a disconnected life. By acknowledging the importance of connections and actively seeking to nurture them, individuals can avoid the pitfalls of isolation and irrational decision-making. Let us learn from Achan’s mistakes and strive to cultivate meaningful connections that enrich our lives and help us make sound decisions.

In verse 20, Achan responded to Joshua’s inquiry by confessing to his wrongdoing. He admitted that he had sinned against the Lord of Israel by taking a beautiful Babylonian garment, a wedge of gold weighing 50 shekels, and hiding them in the earth in the midst of his tent with silver underneath. Achan’s confession revealed the extent of his disobedience and the severity of his actions, which had brought sin upon the camp of Israel. As a result, Achan and his clan were stoned to death, illustrating the consequences of his transgression.

Achan’s actions were not only a violation of the laws of Israel but also a display of disconnectedness from reality and spiritual principles. His decision to steal and hide the spoils of war demonstrated a lack of regard for the consequences of his actions and a disregard for the well-being of the community. Achan’s behavior was characterized by a selfish and disconnected mindset, as he prioritized his own desires over the welfare of the nation and the spiritual laws that governed their actions.

The story of Achan serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the dangers of disconnectedness and dysfunctionality. Achan’s actions and mindset mirrored those of individuals who choose to disconnect from vital connections in their lives, whether physical or spiritual. His disregard for the consequences of his actions and his selfish motivations led to severe repercussions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a connection to reality and spiritual principles. Achan’s story serves as a reminder of the destructive nature of disconnectedness and the need to prioritize vital connections in life.

Some individuals are surrounded by a large number of people, yet they feel a lack of meaningful connection with those around them. This disconnect from reality is evident in the way they observe their friends from a distance, wondering what has become of them. For example, there are cases where a man may have a wife at home but also maintains multiple extramarital relationships, squandering his resources on these individuals. This behavior is likened to that of Achan, who was completely detached from reality. It is perplexing to witness such disconnected lives, where the people around them are not perceived as genuine human beings, but rather as spirits or even agents of the devil. These individuals have made a conscious decision to remain detached, showing little to no respect for others, and avoiding any form of meaningful connection, even with church members or pastors.

The disconnectedness of such individuals leads to a sense of vagueness, thoughtlessness, and irrationality. Their approach to relationships and interactions is purely transactional, as they engage in business dealings and swiftly move on without forming genuine connections. If there is no immediate benefit from an interaction, they do not bother to maintain contact. They are uninterested in allowing others to have a meaningful impact on their lives, rejecting any attempts to inquire about their well-being or personal matters. This deliberate avoidance of connection and genuine friendship results in a life that is detached and isolated, leading to a state of mind that even the devil would envy.

The extent of their disconnectedness is such that even the devil himself would express disbelief at their behavior, claiming that he could not fathom such detachment. This level of disconnection from reality and genuine human connection is so profound that it leads to a sense of bewilderment and astonishment, even from the devil’s perspective. The refusal to engage in meaningful relationships and the deliberate avoidance of any form of connection ultimately results in a life that is devoid of genuine human interaction, leading to a state of disconnectedness that is difficult for others to comprehend.

It is of utmost importance that we come to a decision in the year 2015 to lead a life that is interconnected with others, as commanded by God. In Psalm 133 from the King James Version of the Bible, it is stated, “Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” This verse emphasizes the beauty and positivity that arises when individuals come together in harmony. The Message translation of the same verse conveys a similar sentiment, stating, “How beautiful, how wonderful when brothers get along.” This highlights the significance of unity and cooperation among people.

Reflecting on the idea of unity and connection, it is essential to consider the importance of resolving conflicts and fostering positive relationships with those around us. The act of reaching out to someone who we may have disagreements with or find it challenging to get along with can lead to a transformative experience. By acknowledging the need for unity and harmony, we can create a more peaceful and supportive environment for ourselves and others. This message is reinforced by the notion that life is enriched and fulfilling when we maintain vital connections with those in our lives.

Drawing from the biblical story in Mark Chapter 2, where Jesus encounters a paralyzed man in a crowded house, we see the significance of coming together and seeking blessings and healing. The narrative underscores the idea that life is not merely about existing but truly living when we establish meaningful connections with others. By recognizing the value of unity and cooperation, we can experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and purpose in our lives. This story serves as a reminder of the transformative power of unity and the blessings that come from living a connected life as guided by divine intervention.

Consider the scenario where a paralytic man was brought to Jesus by a group of individuals. The crowd was so dense that they couldn’t get close to Jesus, so they decided to take an unconventional approach. They climbed onto the roof and began to break through it to create an opening. As dust fell from the ceiling, causing confusion among the people below, Jesus remained calm and assured everyone that everything was under control. Eventually, they successfully lowered the paralytic man down to Jesus through the opening in the roof.

It is important to note that when Jesus saw the faith of the friends who brought the paralytic man to him, he acknowledged their belief and declared that the man’s sins were forgiven. This highlights the significance of having a strong support system and people who have faith in your healing and well-being, even when you may lack the capacity to demonstrate faith yourself. In times when our own faith falters, the faith of those around us can play a crucial role in bringing about positive outcomes and miracles in our lives.

The story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of having vital connections and a supportive community around us. It emphasizes the importance of surrounding ourselves with individuals who are willing to go to great lengths, even risking their own lives and resources, to ensure our well-being and success. In times of weakness or when our faith wavers, having such unwavering support can make all the difference in overcoming challenges and experiencing miraculous transformations in our lives. So, it is essential to cultivate relationships with people who believe in us and are willing to stand by us through thick and thin.

Let us now examine the story of a man in John chapter 5 at the pool of Bethesda as described in the Bible. In verse 1, it is mentioned that there were numerous impotent individuals gathered at the pool, hoping for healing. The belief was that an angel would occasionally stir the water, and the first person to enter would receive their healing. Among these people was a man who had been suffering from an infirmity in his feet for thirty-eight years, as stated in verse 5 of John chapter 5.

When Jesus encountered this man lying there, he recognized the man’s long-standing condition and asked him if he desired to be healed. The man responded by explaining that he had no one to assist him in entering the pool when the water was stirred, as others would always get ahead of him. It was at this moment that Jesus commanded the man to rise, take his bed, and walk, as recorded in verse 8. This divine intervention by Jesus changed the man’s life, offering him healing and a new beginning.

The lesson from this story is profound, emphasizing the importance of divine intervention and the power of faith. The man’s situation seemed hopeless as he believed he had no one to help him, but with Jesus’ presence and command, his life was transformed. This narrative serves as a reminder to never lose hope and always have faith in the possibility of miracles. By staying connected to God and trusting in His grace, one can experience breakthroughs and blessings beyond imagination. Let us strive to live a connected life in unity with others, believing that great grace and outstanding testimonies will manifest in our lives.

Several years ago, I recall making a promise to God that I would diligently fulfill a task by reporting my actions as frequently as possible throughout a particular season. During that time, Pastor T resided in the United Kingdom, and when I visited the UK, he entrusted me with an item intended for his sister who was employed in Abuja. Subsequently, Pastor T’s sister contacted me, informing me that an acquaintance of hers, traveling from Abuja to Lagos, would collect the item. While I was still associated with Daystar Christian Centre, I returned to my duties and delegated the responsibility to my personal assistant, instructing them to make arrangements for the individual to retrieve the item.

Regrettably, my personal assistant was unavailable, and the item was left on my desk. The individual arrived at Lagos airport and contacted me from there. I provided directions to my office, and upon arrival, he entered my office late in the evening, around 5 or 6 pm. As I was working alone in the office, the receptionists had already departed for the day. The security guards guided him to my office, where he greeted me and collected the item without any significant interaction. Subsequently, the Holy Spirit convicted me of my behavior, highlighting the lack of personal engagement and the failure to acknowledge the individual properly.

Reflecting on that incident, I realized the importance of genuine human connection and vowed never to repeat such a mistake. The encounter served as a lesson in humility and attentiveness towards others. Despite the individual traveling all the way from Abuja to Lagos to collect the item, I failed to engage with him on a personal level, which I deeply regret. Moving forward, I resolved to always prioritize face-to-face interactions and ensure that every individual I encounter receives the respect and attention they deserve. It was a humbling experience that taught me the value of human connection and the significance of honoring each person with dignity and respect.

The woman mentioned in the story had a chance encounter with another lady who showed her some pictures on her phone or iPad. The lady was impressed with the pictures but also gave some constructive feedback on how to improve them. They exchanged contact information and parted ways. Later on, the lady who showed the pictures received a call from someone who had a job opportunity for her. It turned out that the lady she had met earlier had recommended her for the job, highlighting the importance of networking and building relationships.

The job that the woman got based on the recommendation turned out to be one of the biggest opportunities she had received the previous year. It was mentioned that the lady who recommended her even claimed credit for the woman’s work, stating that she had helped rearrange things and provide guidance. Despite not being related by blood, the two women had formed a connection that led to a successful outcome. This story emphasizes the significance of forming meaningful connections with others, as it can lead to unexpected opportunities and blessings.

The narrator of the story reflects on the importance of having a network of people in one’s life. They share a personal anecdote about a conversation with their family where the concept of wealth was discussed. The narrator’s wife emphasized that true wealth lies in the relationships and connections one has with others. The story concludes with a message encouraging people to value the connections they have in their lives, as these relationships can bring fulfillment and support. It serves as a reminder that a rich and fulfilling life is one that is built on genuine connections with others.

I found myself in a state of humility as I reflected on a recent conversation with a child. It dawned on me that the words we choose when speaking to children hold significant weight, as they tend to take our statements quite literally. For instance, if I were to mention that we are wealthy, the child might interpret it as an invitation to ask for material possessions. Conversely, if I were to express that there is a lack of funds for a particular item, the child might retort by stating that we are not affluent. This delicate balance in communication with children underscores the importance of being mindful of our words and the potential implications they may have.

In the year 2015, the concept of being rich in people was emphasized as a valuable asset. This notion suggests surrounding oneself with genuine individuals who can offer meaningful insights and guidance. By cultivating relationships with such individuals, one can avoid leading a detached, thoughtless, and irrational existence. It is believed that God has provided the necessary provisions for individuals to connect with others in a profound and impactful manner. This emphasis on being rich in people underscores the significance of fostering genuine relationships that contribute positively to one’s life journey.

Reflecting on the number of individuals one encounters throughout a lifetime can be a thought-provoking exercise. On average, an individual may interact with approximately 80,000 people over the course of their life. This figure is derived from a calculation based on daily interactions, life expectancy, and various other factors. For those engaged in professions such as business development, sales, and marketing, the number of interactions may be even higher. Ultimately, the key takeaway lies in how one leverages these interactions and relationships to shape their life’s trajectory. The question of what one does with the multitude of connections and encounters becomes paramount in defining the impact and significance of one’s life journey.

It is essential to recognize the significance of making connections within a community, especially within a church setting. In the year 2015, there is a call for individuals to approach their connections in a different manner. This involves actively engaging with others, asking questions, and being open to meeting new people. Sometimes, individuals may feel content with their current state and may not see the value in forming new connections. However, it is important to realize that blessings and opportunities may be waiting for them within these connections.

The act of connecting with others goes beyond mere social interactions; it is about building relationships that can positively impact one’s life. In some cases, individuals may have lost the ability to connect due to past experiences such as pain, shame, or lack of trust. However, the message in 2015 is one of renewal and restoration. It is a time to let go of past hindrances and trust in God to help repair and strengthen vital connections that are essential for one’s destiny.

3. As individuals come together in a church community, there is a shared responsibility to support and uplift one another. By acknowledging the need for better connections and actively seeking to repair any broken relationships, individuals can pave the way for a more fulfilling and purposeful life. Through prayer and a willingness to open up to God’s guidance, individuals can set the intention to cultivate meaningful connections that align with their destiny and bring about positive change in their lives.

If I have been living a disconnected life in any way, I ask for help to become a person who values and enjoys connections. I seek grace and divine enablement to live a connected life, overcoming any obstacles that may be hindering vital connections in my life. This morning, I speak against anything that may be standing in the way of vital connections, whether it is pride, fear, or a negative attitude. I declare that nothing will stop me from fulfilling my destiny, and I will maximize every relationship and opportunity that God brings into my life, both in business and family.

I ask for help to become a person who can be trusted with resources and relationships. I lift my hands and bless the Lord, thanking Him for everyone who is under the influence of this service, whether they are watching online or present in person. I renounce the lie that I can achieve my destiny alone, and I open myself up to new levels of connection in my destiny. I ask for grace to repair any dysfunctional connections within my family, and I break the hold of the devil over everyone’s destiny.

I repent for any decision to walk the path of destiny alone, and I ask for grace to turn around. I speak to the devil, commanding him to lose his hold over my divine connections and declaring that this season, his hold is broken over every vital connection that will lead me into my destiny. In the name of the Lord Jesus, I serve notice to the devil that his hold is broken, and I declare that I am moving forward into my destiny with strong and vital connections.
