Build Local, Think Global

BUILD LOCAL, THINK GLOBAL

Currently, we are in the midst of the enterprise development month at the Elevation Church. For those who are new to our community, I want to emphasize that our focus is on uplifting one another to take the lead and excel in every aspect of life as per God’s plan. Throughout this series, we have discussed the importance of innovation, the ability to market oneself effectively, and the necessity of maintaining relevance. Today, we are delving into the concept of building locally while thinking globally, drawing inspiration from Genesis 13. In this passage, the Lord instructs Abraham to look around and envision the land that He has promised to him and his descendants. This serves as a reminder that God’s vision encompasses the entire world, and as His children, we are called to adopt a global perspective.

It is evident that God operates with a global paradigm, and His instructions to Abraham reflect this overarching perspective.

His promise of land to Abraham and his descendants is not limited to a specific region but extends to the entire earth. This underscores the importance of embracing a global mindset in our approach to life. As God’s children, we are called to align our thinking with His expansive vision. Just as God declares His ownership of all things, including the earth and its resources, we are encouraged to adopt a similar outlook. This entails recognizing that we are part of a larger, interconnected world and that our actions and decisions have implications beyond our immediate surroundings.

In light of this, it is crucial for us to cultivate a global mentality that transcends geographical boundaries. While the proverb “it takes a village to raise a child” emphasizes the role of community in nurturing individuals, it is equally important for individuals to develop a global perspective in order to fulfill their potential. Without this broader outlook, individuals may feel limited in their aspirations and unable to maximize their impact. Therefore, as we strive to build and grow in our respective local contexts, we must also bear in mind the global implications of our actions. By doing so, we align ourselves with God’s expansive vision and contribute to the advancement of His kingdom on a global scale.

The concept of “it takes a village to raise a child” emphasizes the importance of community and collective responsibility in nurturing and guiding a child as they grow. This idea suggests that a child’s development is influenced not only by their immediate family but also by the broader community around them. The village represents the network of people who contribute to a child’s upbringing, providing support, guidance, and care. This communal approach recognizes that raising a child is a shared endeavor that requires the involvement of various individuals beyond just the parents.

However, as children mature and strive to fulfill their destiny, they may need to transition from the confines of the village to explore the full extent of their potential. Moving beyond the village symbolizes breaking free from societal expectations and limitations to embrace the unique path that God has planned for each individual. This shift signifies a personal journey towards self-discovery, growth, and the realization of one’s purpose. It is a transition from relying solely on the village’s influence to seeking the divine guidance and blessings that God has in store for each person.

The practice of naming ceremonies in African cultures exemplifies the communal nature of child-rearing and the significance of community involvement in a child’s life. Naming a child is a collective effort that involves input from various members of the community, reflecting the interconnectedness and shared responsibility within the village. While the proverb “it takes a village to raise a child” underscores the importance of community support, it also highlights the individual’s responsibility to embrace their unique destiny and spiritual journey. Ultimately, the child must navigate their path with the guidance of God, recognizing that while the village plays a crucial role in their upbringing, they must also venture beyond its confines to fulfill their purpose in life.

In the book of Acts of the Apostles, chapter 1, verse 8, there is a powerful message conveyed by Jesus to his disciples. He instructs them to remain in Jerusalem until they are endowed with power from on high. This power is not just for their own benefit, but for a greater purpose – to be witnesses of Jesus from Jerusalem to Judea, to Samaria, and even to the farthest corners of the earth. This message highlights the global nature of God’s plan and His desire for His followers to spread His message far and wide.

The reference to God’s communication with Abraham in Genesis 14 further emphasizes the global perspective of God. When God spoke to Abraham, He not only acknowledged where Abraham was at that moment but also revealed His vastness by mentioning the north, south, east, and west. This shows that God’s plan transcends geographical boundaries and local limitations. He is a God with a global paradigm, offering opportunities and blessings that extend beyond what is visible within our immediate surroundings.

Many of us tend to operate within the confines of our familiar “villages” – the comfort zones, support systems, and mindsets that we have grown accustomed to. However, God challenges us to think beyond these limitations and embrace a global perspective. This means being open to new ideas, expanding our networks, and seeking opportunities that may lie outside our usual circles. By recognizing God as a limitless and all-encompassing force in our lives, we can tap into His boundless potential and fulfill our destinies on a global scale. God’s message is clear: think local, but think global, for His plans for us are far greater than we can imagine.

I give myself permission to reach out to someone who is still present with me today. It is important not to limit ourselves to thinking only about our immediate surroundings, as God’s plan for us is to have a much broader impact. Local influence is just the beginning, and what we do with the resources and opportunities around us will determine our future. In the Acts of the Apostles, we see how the early Church came together in a spirit of love and unity, sharing and caring for one another. They knew each other intimately and lived in harmony, but when persecution arose in Jerusalem, they were forced to scatter.

Some people wait until they face persecution before realizing that God’s plan is global, not limited to the village mentality. The early disciples experienced this when the village became hostile, and they had to extend their reach beyond their immediate surroundings. Similarly, in today’s context, a businessman may find that the current economic climate is not conducive for their business to thrive, signaling a shift from the village mentality to a more global perspective.

It is important to recognize when the village becomes hostile, whether in the form of personal relationships or business challenges, and to understand that this may be a sign of a broader shift in God’s plan for us. Instead of waiting for persecution to arise, we should be proactive in extending our influence and impact beyond our current vicinity. This shift from the village mentality to a global perspective is essential for personal and professional growth, and it is a reminder that God’s plan for us is not limited to our immediate surroundings.

It is possible that God is trying to communicate to you that you should consider thinking in different ways and examining the situation around you from a different perspective. This is illustrated in the Bible when the village became hostile in the eyes of the Apostles. People like Philip and others had to go to a place they never knew they could go. Philip discovered that he could fly, metaphorically speaking, only after the village became hostile. This is a reference to the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch, where Philip preached to him and then was taken by the Holy Ghost to another place. It was only when there was hostility in Jerusalem that they started to experience things they never thought possible.

It is important to understand that God has a global paradigm and does not limit His promises to our geography. Anything that God has promised can happen wherever He has sent you. This means that it is crucial to think and dimension your life in a way that aligns with God’s global perspective. The Bible teaches that whoever is faithful in little will be given more, so it is important to build locally and focus on what God has placed in your hand. This is about building local and being faithful in the little things, but it does not mean that you should remain local.

In today’s world, it is possible to have a career path that is local but also extends beyond your immediate location.

For example, you may work for a company in Europe but have an office in Nigeria. This demonstrates that your services are required in other parts of Africa, and you can work remotely to sort out documents and other tasks. This shows that you can build locally while also expanding your reach beyond your immediate location. Therefore, it is important to understand that God’s promises are not limited by geography, and it is possible to build locally while also having a global impact.

It is essential to hone your skills and perfect your craft, as when something begins to show success on a local level, it naturally garners attention on a global scale. This phenomenon is a testament to the quality and effectiveness of the work being done. The concept of starting small and gradually expanding to reach a wider audience is a common trajectory for many successful endeavors.

Often, the challenge lies in our tendency to limit our perception of God based on our immediate surroundings and experiences. We tend to project our expectations of what God can do onto the familiar figures in our lives, such as pastors, family members, or colleagues. However, the Bible teaches us that God’s plans and blessings are beyond what our minds can conceive. It is crucial to open our minds and hearts to the infinite possibilities that God has in store for us.

To truly grasp the magnitude of God’s plans for us, it is important to adopt a mindset of abundance and growth. This involves embracing a ‘multiplication protocol’ in all aspects of our lives, whether it be starting a new business, a family, or a church. By understanding the deeper purpose behind our endeavors and aligning ourselves with God’s will, we can unlock the full potential of what He has in store for us. It is a journey of faith and trust, allowing God to work in ways that surpass our limited human understanding.

The intricate design of God’s plan is evident in the vast population of seven billion people on Earth. Despite the assumption of an equal distribution between men and women, with 3.5 billion women, the specific individual one is meant to marry may seem perplexing. It is essential to ponder why this particular person has been chosen for such a significant role in one’s life. This contemplation leads to the realization that God’s intentions surpass human understanding. Merely relying on feelings of love is insufficient, as emotions can be fleeting and inconsistent over time.

Love, a common experience that many individuals encounter multiple times in their lives, cannot solely dictate the fulfillment of God’s will. Recognizing that God has a grander plan and purpose in mind is crucial. Understanding this concept is pivotal in aligning oneself with the divine protocol that governs relationships and life decisions. Just as the Haitian language emphasizes the importance of protocol, God established the initial protocol during the creation of the world, as depicted in Genesis chapter 1 verse 11.

In the creation narrative, God meticulously designed each plant and tree to produce fruit according to its kind, ensuring the continuity of species through their seeds. This deliberate act of creation reflects God’s intentionality and foresight in establishing order and purpose in the world. Similarly, when God created man and woman, He had a specific plan in mind, symbolized by the naming of woman as “womb man.” This designation underscores the divine origin and purpose of human relationships, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and aligning with God’s overarching plan in matters of the heart.

The distinction between man and woman lies in their biological makeup, with one possessing a womb to receive and the other having the ability to give seed. This fundamental difference is rooted in the concept of seed, which is essential for reproduction. The argument that the gay agenda goes against God’s will or plan is based on the belief that God intended for a seed giver and a seed receiver to coexist on Earth. The idea is not to have individuals who are solely seed givers or receivers, as the balance between the two is crucial for multiplication to occur.

According to the narrative, after creating Adam and Eve, God entrusted them with the task of continuing His creation through the process of multiplication. This concept is symbolized by the presence of seed, which acts as a protocol for reproduction. Just like in the case of trees, where a tree bears fruit containing seeds for propagation, the same principle applies to human beings. The ability to multiply is inherent in the seed giver and the seed receiver, signifying the completion of the creation process.

Applying this analogy to other aspects of life, such as one’s career or business, raises the question of whether there is a built-in mechanism for multiplication. The idea is to assess whether one’s endeavors have the potential to expand beyond local boundaries and reach a global scale. Just as God’s intention for a tree is to bear fruit that contains seeds for further growth, individuals should strive to embed a multiplication protocol in their work. This involves creating services or products that have the capacity to spread and thrive in different environments, ensuring sustained growth and development.

The business I am currently establishing is focused on the local market, but I am fully aware of the importance of embedding a multiplication protocol within its DNA. This protocol will serve as the foundation for growth and expansion in the future. As I sit here in the quiet of my house, I reflect on the significance of ensuring that my message is clearly understood by those around me. It is crucial to maintain a level of understanding and connection with my team to ensure that we are all aligned in our goals and objectives.

It is essential for individuals in various professions, such as carpenters, bricklayers, lawyers, accountants, and bankers, to ask themselves the same critical questions about their work. For example, carpenters must consider the quality of the furniture they produce, ensuring that each piece is structurally sound and functional. A chair with three legs touching the ground and one leg off-balance is not only impractical but also unsafe. It is important to pay attention to the details and craftsmanship of our work to avoid potential issues in the future.

When engaging with individuals who seek advice or guidance on their projects, it is important to look for the multiplication protocol embedded within their ideas. This protocol serves as a roadmap for success and growth, allowing for the transformation of a simple concept into a groundbreaking achievement. By evaluating the potential for expansion and scalability in a project, one can determine its long-term viability and impact. It is crucial to identify projects with the potential for significant growth and success, rather than those that may be limited in scope and impact.

When observing Adam and Eve, it is evident that their physical appearance did not resemble the 7 billion people that currently inhabit the Earth. However, upon closer examination of their DNA and genetic makeup, it becomes apparent that something unique and significant had been encoded within them. This coding, although unknown to Adam and Eve themselves, was recognized and embedded by God. It is crucial to recognize the divine presence within our creations, whether they be careers, businesses, or enterprises. By seeking God’s guidance and assistance, we can ensure that a multiplication protocol is instilled within our endeavors. This protocol serves as the seed that, once in place, allows us to think globally and unlock the potential for exponential growth and impact.

The ability to think globally is a pivotal factor in uncovering the multiplication protocol that is inherent within a business or dream. Often, individuals fail to recognize the full extent of their potential until they adopt a global perspective. It is common for people to become complacent once they have gained local recognition and acceptance. However, this limited mindset inhibits the realization of the broader impact that can be achieved. By embracing a global outlook, one can begin to understand the universal nature of human needs, such as redemption, salvation, and renewal of the soul and mind. This understanding allows for the packaging of these universal needs in a manner that is appealing and accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds and locations.

The impact of a well-packaged message or endeavor is not confined to a specific geographical location. Through the use of online platforms and digital communication, the reach of a message can extend far beyond its original setting. This is exemplified by the ability of individuals in different parts of the world to access and benefit from the teachings and inspirations shared by Pastor CJ and others. The universal nature of human needs transcends boundaries of race, wealth, and social status, making it possible for a message to resonate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. By recognizing this universal need and tailoring our offerings to appeal to a global audience, we can create a meaningful and far-reaching impact that extends beyond local boundaries.

Working with multinational companies provides a unique opportunity for individuals to gain exposure to global markets and develop a skill set that is relevant on an international scale. Multinational companies often invest in their employees by providing them with training and development opportunities, such as sending them to different countries for specialized courses and work assignments. This exposure not only enhances the individual’s professional growth but also contributes to their global relevance, making them valuable assets in the international business arena.

For those who do not have the privilege of working for a multinational corporation, there are still ways to cultivate a global appeal in their careers. This can be achieved through continuous learning, networking, and adapting one’s skills to align with the demands of the global market. By staying informed about international trends, understanding cultural nuances, and honing language skills, individuals can position themselves as globally competitive professionals, even without the backing of a multinational company.

The global impact of certain industries, such as the Chinese food industry, serves as an example of how a country’s products and services can transcend borders and create employment opportunities worldwide. By adapting their cuisine to suit the preferences of different regions, the Chinese food industry has been able to establish a presence in various countries, leading to the proliferation of Chinese restaurants and the employment of local staff. This demonstrates how a concerted effort to cater to global tastes can result in the expansion of a country’s influence and economic opportunities on a global scale.

If you are involved in the food industry, it is crucial to consider how you can effectively package your products. Recently, I came across a young Nigerian lady who is already excelling in this aspect. She has a website where she showcases her innovative product called Candid Egusi, which is essentially Egusi packaged in a unique way. Her brand, Toni’s Kitchen, is gaining recognition for its ability to take local ingredients and give them an international appeal. Her creativity in packaging sets her apart in the industry.

As someone who aspires to expand their business to Europe or North America, I envision a scenario where I walk into a restaurant in a foreign land and find comfort in the familiar flavors of my hometown, Ibadan. This desire to preserve one’s cultural heritage through food is a sentiment shared by many. It is a way to stay connected to one’s roots even when miles away from home. The story shared about the mentor’s cautionary tale of consuming unfamiliar food resonates deeply with me, highlighting the importance of being mindful of what one eats, especially when traveling.

The anecdote about the mentor’s unfortunate experience in India serves as a cautionary tale for those who travel frequently. It underscores the significance of being cautious about the food one consumes in unfamiliar territories. This lesson has been taken seriously by many, including myself, who now make it a point to carry familiar snacks like biscuits, garri, and groundnuts when traveling to preach or attend events. This precaution ensures that one’s health is not compromised, allowing them to fulfill their purpose without any hindrances. The importance of being mindful of what one eats cannot be overstated, especially in a world where food safety and hygiene are paramount concerns.

Let me conclude by summarizing the content of 2 Kings chapter 4. This passage recounts the story of a widow who sought help from the prophet Elisha. The widow, facing financial difficulties after her husband’s death, was at risk of losing her sons to slavery due to debts. Elisha, in response, asked her what she had in her house. She mentioned having only a jar of oil. Elisha then instructed her to gather empty vessels from all her neighbors, emphasizing the importance of not limiting the scope of her search. This narrative highlights the theme of God’s provision and the need to trust in His miraculous intervention.

The significance of the widow’s obedience to Elisha’s instructions lies in the broader message of faith and abundance. By following Elisha’s guidance to collect vessels from everywhere, the widow demonstrated her willingness to step out of her comfort zone and trust in God’s plan. The act of gathering vessels symbolizes the importance of expanding one’s horizons and seeking blessings beyond familiar territories. This story serves as a reminder that God’s grace knows no bounds and is not confined to limited expectations or human understanding.

In reflecting on this passage, it becomes evident that the key to experiencing God’s abundant grace lies in our willingness to step out in faith and embrace His limitless possibilities. The widow’s story serves as a powerful illustration of the transformative power of obedience and trust in God’s promises. By heeding Elisha’s instructions to gather vessels from everywhere, the widow opened herself up to a miraculous outpouring of God’s provision. This narrative encourages us to break free from self-imposed limitations and embrace the fullness of God’s grace, which surpasses all human comprehension and is capable of exceeding our wildest expectations.

The woman followed the instructions given to her by the prophet and shut the door on herself and her sons. They then proceeded to send her sons out to gather vessels as instructed. The sons went out within the sociological construct of their village and met Auntie Mary, who advised them to get buckets. They collected the buckets and continued on their journey to meet Rita, who was asked for her bucket after finishing bathing. The process continued as they went around the village, meeting various individuals.

They eventually reached the fashion designer, known as the tailor in the village, who had made the clothes one of the guys was wearing. The tailor was asked for vessels, and since he had made the clothes, he couldn’t refuse. The group did not have to negotiate hard or face any obstacles in obtaining the vessels they needed. The miracle that Elisha had foreseen was just enough for the woman to pay her debt and live on the rest with her sons, but the potential for a greater miracle was present.

The story emphasizes the importance of building capacity and being open to exposure. By borrowing vessels and expanding one’s horizons, individuals can overcome assumptions and limitations. The need to build capacity is highlighted through the example of the woman and her sons, who could have received a greater miracle if they had the capacity to do so. The message encourages individuals to seek exposure, challenge themselves, and expand their horizons in order to be prepared for the miracles and opportunities that may come their way.

One of the key methods to enhance your capacity is through exposure. For instance, challenging pastors in Nigeria to visit Canaanland, the largest auditorium in the world located in Lagos, can significantly impact their ministry. It is not about personal preferences but about expanding one’s horizons and allowing new experiences to shape your perspective. By exposing yourself to different environments and situations, you open yourself up to new possibilities and insights that can enrich your understanding and abilities.

Similarly, in the corporate world, attending a talk by the Managing Director of a leading bank, even if you may not personally like the individual, can provide valuable insights into their success. It is about learning from those who have achieved significant milestones in their respective fields, regardless of personal opinions. By exposing yourself to diverse viewpoints and experiences, you can broaden your knowledge base and develop a more well-rounded approach to your work and life.

Exposure is not just about physical travel but also about continuous learning and growth.

By staying updated with the latest trends and technologies, you are essentially borrowing vessels to enhance your capacity. Embracing training opportunities and seeking knowledge actively can help you stay ahead of the curve and achieve success in your endeavors. Remember, the key to success lies in constantly sharpening your skills and expanding your horizons through exposure and learning.

The passage from Ecclesiastes chapter 10 and verse 10 emphasizes the importance of skill and training in achieving success. The analogy of a dull axe needing more strength to be effective highlights the need for continuous improvement and development. The message translation conveys the idea that skill is what ultimately leads to success, and this is further exemplified by the story shared about Pastor Debo Omotunde’s pursuit of the latest certification in Dubai. By investing in training and staying updated with industry standards, individuals can enhance their capabilities and increase their chances of success.

The narrative about Pastor Debo Omotunde’s decision to travel to Dubai for training and certification serves as a powerful illustration of the value of continuous learning and professional development. His proactive approach to acquiring the necessary qualifications for the jobs he is bidding for demonstrates a commitment to excellence and growth. The analogy of borrowing vessels from Dubai symbolizes the idea of expanding one’s skills and knowledge base to achieve greater success in one’s endeavors.

The message conveyed in the passage is clear: in order to succeed, one must be willing to invest in oneself and continuously improve one’s skills and capabilities. Stagnation is not an option, and individuals must be proactive in seeking out opportunities for growth and development. By keeping abreast of global standards, pursuing relevant training, and embracing new technologies, individuals can position themselves for success in an ever-evolving professional landscape. The story of Pastor Debo Omotunde serves as a reminder that success is not just about luck or prayer, but about taking deliberate actions to enhance one’s abilities and seize opportunities for advancement.

In today’s world, technology offers a plethora of tools that can aid in expanding one’s reach globally. Many individuals aspire to excel in their respective fields, yet some may overlook the importance of establishing an online presence through platforms such as blogs. Blogs have become a popular medium for sharing knowledge, experiences, and expertise with a global audience. Whether it’s a weekly update, a monthly reflection, or simply a platform to express thoughts and ideas, maintaining a blog can significantly contribute to showcasing one’s skills and capabilities to a wider audience.

The significance of online presence extends beyond just blogs; social media and websites play a crucial role in reaching a global audience. For instance, if you are in the business of selling traditional snacks like puff puff or chin chin, launching a website can instantly connect you with potential customers worldwide. The accessibility of your products or services through a website allows individuals from different parts of the world to explore and engage with your offerings, even if they cannot physically taste or experience them. This digital presence marks the beginning of your global expansion journey, enabling people from diverse backgrounds to discover and appreciate what you have to offer.

Ultimately, achieving global recognition requires a commitment to excellence in all aspects of your work. Excellence serves as a universal language that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, resonating with individuals from various backgrounds. By embedding a pursuit of excellence into your endeavors, you not only position yourself for success on a global scale but also attract admiration and respect from others. Just as a well-crafted piece of furniture garners attention and admiration, your dedication to excellence in your craft will set you apart and draw others towards your work. Embracing excellence as a guiding principle on your journey towards global recognition ensures that you continue to progress and evolve, ultimately making a lasting impact in your field.
