FAN INTO FLAMES

Last week, we initiated a teaching series entitled “Everyday Supernatural.” For those who may not have been present, our discussions have centered around the concept of supernatural living and the manifestations of divine acts in our lives. It is essential to understand that every believer is called to experience and express the works of God in a manner that transcends the ordinary. This notion emphasizes that believers are not confined to merely responding to life through natural instincts or circumstances. We began our exploration by defining what it means to live naturally, which we characterized as being limited to the perceptions and responses dictated by our five senses.

The advantages of cultivating a relationship with God are profound, as it leads to the renewal of one’s spirit. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, when an individual is in Christ, they become a new creation, and this transformation originates from the spirit. This renewed spirit establishes a vital connection with God, infusing the believer with divine life. The Apostle Paul elaborates on this concept in Romans chapter 8, where he identifies the spirit that guides believers. In verse 14, he states that those who are led by the Spirit of God are indeed the children of God. Furthermore, in verse 15, he contrasts this divine spirit with a spirit of bondage, affirming that believers have received the spirit of adoption, which is described in the Passion Translation as the spirit of mature sonship.

During last week’s discussion, I provided an analogy to illustrate the significance of understanding one’s adoption into God’s family. It is conceivable for an individual to be adopted by a wealthy benefactor, yet if that person remains unaware of their new status or neglects to comprehend the implications of their adoption, they may continue to live with an outdated mindset. This lack of awareness can prevent them from accessing the benefits and privileges that come with their new identity. The Bible emphasizes that we have received the spirit of adoption, which signifies our transition into a new family and a new way of living. This spirit of mature sonship empowers believers to embrace their identity and the abundant life that God has intended for them.

In verse 16, it is articulated that the Spirit itself testifies alongside our spirit, affirming our identity as children of God. This profound relationship implies that if we are indeed children, we are also heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. This shared inheritance signifies that we possess certain divine attributes; the essence of God resides within us, and His guiding hand influences our lives. As joint heirs with Christ, we are not merely ordinary beings; rather, we are empowered to experience life in a supernatural manner, emulating the extraordinary existence that Christ exemplified. Acts 10:38 highlights this notion, stating that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, enabling Him to perform good deeds and heal those oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

It is essential to affirm with conviction that God is indeed with us, which empowers us to live each day in a supernatural way. By declaring that we embody the nature of Christ, we acknowledge that this divine essence manifests in all our actions and decisions. However, it is noteworthy that only a portion of the church fully embraces this truth. The spirit of adoption we possess is not an ordinary spirit; it represents a mature understanding of sonship. As we delve deeper into our faith and engage with the Scriptures, we begin to grasp the intricacies of this adoption. It is crucial to recognize that our focus should not be limited to peripheral aspects of our lives, but rather centered on the core of our existence as believers, which is the spirit that was revitalized upon our acceptance of Christ.

The transformation that occurs when one accepts Christ is encapsulated in the notion that all things become new, with the old passing away, beginning with the spirit. A pertinent scripture to internalize is 1 Thessalonians 5:23, which emphasizes our nature as triune beings. Primarily, we are spirits, and upon completing our earthly assignments, it is our spirit that departs to return to God, while our physical bodies remain, returning to dust. This body serves merely as an earthly vessel, akin to a house for our spirit. Our spirit interacts with the world through our intellect, emotions, and cognitive faculties, allowing us to experience life fully. It is vital to understand that while we possess a soul, we are not defined by it; rather, our true identity is rooted in our spirit.

In contemporary society, particularly among Nigerians, there exists a significant struggle to attain a secondary status on the global stage. However, this pursuit often leads to the oversight of the paramount status that one holds as a child of God and a citizen of heaven. This divine citizenship surpasses any earthly nationality, whether it be that of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or any other nation one might aspire to belong to. It is crucial to recognize that while seeking additional citizenships is not inherently wrong, the foremost identity as a child of God should never be diminished or overlooked, as it is the most vital aspect of one’s existence.

The sacrifice made by Jesus, who shed His blood for humanity, grants access to this heavenly citizenship, a privilege that should not be taken lightly. Many individuals invest considerable resources and effort in obtaining secondary citizenships, yet they often neglect the spiritual status that comes at the highest cost. Living in a world that may acknowledge one’s earthly status while remaining oblivious to one’s spiritual identity can be perilous. The account of the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 17 serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of spiritual authority. The demons recognized Paul and Jesus, but they questioned the identity of the sons of Sceva, highlighting the danger of lacking spiritual recognition and authority.

For those who genuinely identify as children of God, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit should manifest in a life characterized by supernatural experiences and transformations. This divine presence empowers believers to effect change in their surroundings, as exemplified by Jesus, who commanded the winds and waves, and they obeyed. Such authority is not reserved for pastors or religious leaders; every believer has the capacity to lay hands on the sick and witness their recovery or speak life into seemingly hopeless situations. It is imperative to embrace and exercise this authority, as it reflects the nature of God that resides within us. Neglecting this divine empowerment is to live an ordinary existence, devoid of the extraordinary potential that comes with being a true follower of Christ.

In his correspondence with Timothy, Paul emphasizes the potential for believers to possess the spirit of God, specifically the anointing of the Holy Spirit, while also acknowledging that this divine presence can remain inactive or dormant within them. He urges Timothy to actively engage with the gifts bestowed upon him, which were imparted through the laying on of hands. Paul reassures Timothy that God has not instilled a spirit of fear within him, but rather one characterized by power, love, and a sound mind. This encouragement serves as a reminder for Timothy to awaken and activate the spiritual gifts that lie within him, as they hold the potential for significant impact.

The Passion Translation articulates this call to action by suggesting that Timothy should “fan into a flame” the spiritual gift he received. This metaphor illustrates the necessity of nurturing and rekindling the divine fire that has been imparted to him. Paul’s message underscores the reality that while the anointing and spiritual gifts are indeed present, they may not be fully realized or operational unless actively cultivated. The implication is clear: without intentional effort to engage with these gifts, they may remain dormant, failing to produce the transformative effects intended by God.

To be anointed signifies functioning under the influence and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, which enables individuals to operate with supernatural capabilities. While manifestations of the anointing may include emotional responses such as shouting or falling, these are merely external effects rather than the essence of the anointing itself. The true anointing is an empowerment that allows believers to navigate the spiritual realm effectively, growing progressively in divine nature and actions. Furthermore, it is important to recognize that believers may receive specific anointings tailored to particular roles or responsibilities, such as transitioning from middle management to senior management, where a distinct level of grace is required to fulfill the demands of the new position.

The concept of empowerment in the roles of motherhood and fatherhood is profound, as it suggests that there exists a divine anointing specifically designated for these responsibilities. This anointing is not merely a theoretical notion; it is a tangible grace provided by God that equips individuals to excel in their parental roles. Furthermore, this divine enablement extends to various vocations, including leadership within organizations. When opportunities arise, it is crucial for believers to recognize that the anointing necessary to fulfill these roles has already been bestowed upon them. The choice to embrace or reject this anointing lies within the individual, but the provision from God remains constant and available.

A pertinent illustration of this principle can be found in the biblical account of Exodus 31, where God communicates with Moses regarding the construction of the temple. In this passage, God specifies that He has chosen certain individuals, such as Bezalel, to undertake specific tasks related to the project. God declares that He has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, endowing him with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, as well as the skills required for craftsmanship. This divine selection underscores the importance of recognizing and utilizing the anointing that God has placed upon individuals for particular assignments. The text emphasizes that while the nature of one’s work may differ, the anointing for excellence and effectiveness is universally applicable to all God-given tasks.

It is essential to understand that the anointing is not limited to traditional roles or specific types of work; rather, it encompasses a broader spectrum of endeavors that God has ordained for each person. This divine empowerment enables individuals to approach their responsibilities with a sense of purpose and excellence, leading to outcomes that reflect supernatural intervention rather than mere human effort. The anointing facilitates transformation in various aspects of life, including personal relationships and family dynamics. It empowers individuals to embody virtues such as integrity and compassion, thereby fostering a harmonious and fulfilling home environment. Ultimately, embracing this anointing allows one to navigate life’s challenges with grace and effectiveness, rather than feeling overwhelmed or coerced into their roles.

I recall a time when one of my uncles resided in a location that I believe was Warri, although I cannot be entirely certain of the exact place. During my training in the oil and gas sector, I often visited his home whenever I was assigned to a field nearby. My uncle and his family lived in Warri, and I vividly remember an incident where his wife was engaged in conversation with him and their children. She was asking him various questions and making requests, repeatedly stating that “your father will do it” and “he will pay,” all in Pidgin English. My uncle, seemingly exasperated, looked up and remarked, “He will die,” in response to her insistence, humorously emphasizing the toll of her expectations.

This particular exchange has remained etched in my memory, as it highlights a deeper truth about the human experience. Instead of merely accepting the phrase “he will die,” I believe there exists a profound anointing that allows one to function effectively despite the pressures of life. This notion resonates with the idea that individuals can become overwhelmed by their circumstances, leading to frustration in fulfilling their God-ordained purpose. It is essential to recognize that without tapping into the anointing of the Holy Spirit, one may struggle to navigate the challenges that arise in their designated roles and responsibilities.

The biblical passage from Romans 8:26 reinforces this concept, stating that we often lack the knowledge of how to pray effectively, yet the Spirit assists us in our weaknesses. The term “weakness” here encompasses not only personal shortcomings but also the broader human frailties that we all experience. It suggests that the Holy Spirit actively supports us in our moments of limitation, empowering us to overcome the frustrations that life presents. This divine assistance is crucial, as it enables us to rise above our inherent limitations and continue on our paths, even when the burdens seem insurmountable. Thus, it is imperative to lean on the anointing of the Holy Spirit during such times of struggle.

It is essential for both of us to harness the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which serves as a divine empowerment, particularly when faced with the ongoing frustrations that can arise in a marital relationship. In moments when your spouse consistently provokes feelings of irritation, it becomes crucial to seek grace and the anointing to maintain a state of tranquility and to embody the divine nature that resides within you. Many individuals ponder the question of how one can extend love to those who seem unlovable. The answer lies in the practice of supernatural living, which is fundamentally a manifestation of divine enablement that allows one to rise above natural inclinations.

Consider the example of Jesus during His crucifixion, where He faced immense suffering and ridicule. Despite the abuse hurled at Him, He chose to respond with forgiveness, uttering the profound words, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” This response is strikingly different from what one might expect in a similar situation, where a natural reaction could involve cursing those who inflicted such pain. Instead, Jesus exemplified supernatural living by empathizing with the ignorance of His persecutors, demonstrating a level of grace that transcends human understanding. This ability to forgive in the face of extreme adversity is a testament to the power of divine enablement.

The narrative of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness further illustrates the consequences of lacking divine empowerment. Throughout their journey, they exhibited a pattern of incessant complaining, which ultimately led to their own frustration and discontent. Despite being God’s chosen people, their inability to leverage the anointing resulted in a tragic fate, as they were condemned to perish in the wilderness. This serves as a poignant reminder that even those called by God can falter when they fail to access the divine enablement necessary to navigate challenging seasons. The lesson here is clear: without the anointing, our capacity for negativity and dissatisfaction can overwhelm us, leading to dire consequences in our spiritual journey.

Today, I urge you to listen closely if you find yourself navigating a challenging season in your life. It may feel akin to traversing a desolate wilderness, yet it is essential to recognize that God desires to accompany you through this trying experience. He offers a strength and support that transcends the ordinary, a divine enablement that empowers you to endure and overcome. I encourage you to affirm this truth, for it is a message of hope and resilience meant for you. The assurance of God’s presence is a source of encouragement, reminding you that you are not alone in your struggles.

I speak to you today with a message inspired by the Spirit of God: you will not succumb to despair, nor will you abandon your path due to frustration. This week marks a turning point, as the spirit of encouragement envelops you, bringing comfort to your heart and guiding you toward the fulfillment of God’s purpose for your life. In the name of Jesus, I declare that you will receive the grace necessary to excel in your endeavors. You are not destined to resign prematurely from your commitments; rather, you are called to persevere and resolve the challenges you face. The Holy Spirit is here to provide the strength you need to navigate these turbulent waters.

The anointing that resides within every believer facilitates a life of supernatural existence, while the anointing that rests upon them empowers extraordinary actions. The events of Pentecost, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, illustrate the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, who does not merely visit but dwells permanently within us. In the Old Testament, the Spirit would come upon individuals for specific tasks, as seen with Elijah’s prophetic anointing. However, in the New Testament, Jesus proclaimed that from within believers would flow rivers of living water. Upon accepting Christ, you receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers you continuously. Instead of seeking external sources of power, recognize that you are already equipped and energized to fulfill your divine calling.

You are akin to a house that is already equipped with power; there is no need to search for an external generator. Instead, focus on locating the switch and turning it on. This is the challenge I present to us today: it is time to activate that power within us. In Acts chapter 2, verses 1 to 5, we witness the arrival of the Holy Spirit, who filled the space where the disciples were gathered. Specifically, the latter part of verse 2 emphasizes that the Holy Spirit filled the entire house, and subsequently, divided tongues resembling fire appeared upon each individual present, resulting in them being filled with the Holy Ghost and speaking in various tongues, as the scripture indicates.

The phenomenon of the Holy Spirit’s presence encompasses what we refer to as corporate anointing, which is the collective empowerment to pray and worship together. There exists an anointing that enables individuals to live righteously, as well as an anointing that empowers them to minister to others, particularly in challenging circumstances. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is transformative, producing new abilities and divine insights while fostering alignment with God’s will. It transcends mere emotional responses or physical manifestations; the true essence of the anointing lies in its capacity to effect genuine change and empowerment in our lives.

The anointing may evoke physical sensations such as goosebumps or tears, and it can lead individuals to fall under its influence, but these reactions are merely surface-level effects. They resemble the shock experienced when a device receives an unexpected power surge. The authentic manifestation of the anointing is evident when it brings about a significant transformation in one’s life, demonstrating the capabilities bestowed upon us. As stated in John 16:13, Jesus articulated that the Spirit of Truth would guide us into all truth, speaking not from His own authority but relaying what He hears. The Holy Spirit desires to unveil future revelations to you as you deepen your relationship with Him and strive to embody the supernatural.

In the epistle of 1 John, specifically in chapter 2, verse 27, it is articulated that the anointing received from the Divine resides within believers, granting them the ability to discern truth without the necessity of external instruction. This passage emphasizes that the anointing serves as an internal guide, imparting knowledge and understanding about all matters that pertain to faith and life. The essence of this teaching is that believers are encouraged to cultivate a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, who is capable of revealing truths and guiding them in their spiritual journey. This divine presence is intended to be a daily experience, allowing individuals to engage with their faith actively and personally.

While the passage suggests that believers possess the capability to learn directly from the Holy Spirit, it does not imply that they should entirely forgo the guidance of others. It is acknowledged that there are times when individuals may require the support and counsel of fellow believers, including pastors and ministers. However, the core message is that one should not become overly reliant on any individual, regardless of their spiritual stature or prophetic gifts. The New Testament encourages believers to recognize their own identity as children of God, emphasizing that all are equal in the eyes of the Divine. The role of church leaders is to facilitate growth and maturity among the congregation, equipping them to navigate their spiritual lives independently.

The notion of spiritual maturity is further illustrated by the idea that believers should actively engage with their challenges rather than seeking constant intervention from spiritual leaders. As a pastor, my role is to support and pray for you, especially in times of difficulty, but the ultimate goal is for you to develop the confidence to confront your own spiritual storms. The expectation is that you will utilize the same Spirit of adoption and maturity that I possess to address your challenges directly. By doing so, you not only affirm your identity as a child of God but also embrace the supernatural capabilities bestowed upon you. The encouragement is to speak to your circumstances with authority and faith, and subsequently share your testimonies of victory, thereby living out the fullness of your spiritual inheritance.

At times, individuals may find themselves in need of direction regarding their communication skills, including how to articulate their thoughts effectively, what to avoid in conversation, and even the appropriate physical stance while speaking. In this context, we offer our support and guidance, encouraging you to express yourself. There are moments when we may join you in this endeavor, as the scripture emphasizes the power of agreement, stating that if two individuals come together in unity regarding any matter, it shall be accomplished. However, it is essential to recognize that seeking validation from others, such as a prophet regarding decisions like traveling to Ibadan, may indicate a lack of personal maturity. If one feels compelled to rely on external affirmation for such choices, it may be prudent to reflect on whether one is truly prepared for such a journey.

The essence of spiritual growth lies in the ability to cultivate the anointing bestowed upon us through the Holy Spirit. It is crucial for Christians to actively nurture this divine presence within them; otherwise, they risk becoming ensnared in mere religious practices devoid of genuine supernatural experiences. The danger of neglecting this vital aspect of faith is that one may find themselves participating in religious activities without ever encountering the transformative power of God. As we gather in worship, it is imperative to recognize that the distinction between a typical religious assembly and the authentic church of Jesus Christ is fundamentally rooted in the manifestation of God’s power among His people.

This power is not only evident in communal worship but also in the individual lives of believers. The grace to navigate life’s challenges, along with the wisdom and understanding necessary to embody the divine nature on Earth, is what sets apart true followers of Christ. The account in Acts 4:13 illustrates how individuals who were perceived as uneducated and ordinary were able to demonstrate extraordinary divine qualities, leaving others in awe of the works accomplished through them. This serves as a reminder that the presence of God in our lives equips us to overcome obstacles and live out our faith in a manner that reflects His glory. Are you embracing this truth today?

The Scriptures illustrate a moment when observers recognized the remarkable courage exhibited by Peter and John. This was not merely a superficial bravado; rather, it was a profound and genuine boldness that stemmed from their faith and experiences. At the Beautiful Gate, Peter proclaimed to a beggar, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” This act of healing was a testament to their unwavering belief and the power they derived from their relationship with Christ. It prompts reflection on our own actions and the extent to which we engage in similar acts of faith, particularly in our immediate circles, such as our families.

The call to action extends beyond mere physical healing; it encourages believers to actively pray and speak life into their circumstances. For instance, when addressing the health of one’s children, it is essential to prioritize prayer and the laying on of hands before resorting to medication. This does not negate the importance of medical treatment but emphasizes the need for spiritual intervention as a first response. The boldness displayed by Peter and John was rooted in their intimate connection with Christ, which empowered them to act decisively and with authority. This raises a critical question: how do we embody that same boldness in our professional and personal lives?

Cultivating the anointing of the Holy Spirit requires intentional effort and a willingness to engage actively in our faith. Just as one tends to a barbecue by fanning the flames to ignite the charcoal, believers must also nurture their spiritual gifts and the anointing within them. This involves speaking up in meetings, contributing ideas, and asserting oneself in various contexts, rather than remaining silent until conflict arises. The recognition of the anointing in our lives should inspire us to take bold steps, reflecting the transformative power of having been with Jesus. As we seek to fan the flames of our faith, we must ask ourselves how we can better express the anointing and boldness that God has bestowed upon us.

Situations and circumstances will inevitably arise and subsequently fade away, often without your awareness of their initial presence.

This phenomenon occurs when one is actively engaged in nurturing a fervent passion or purpose, akin to tending to a fire that requires constant attention to maintain its intensity. To effectively stoke this fire, one must first cultivate a profound desire, which serves as the foundational element in igniting and sustaining the flame of divine grace and anointing in one’s life. This strong desire is not merely a fleeting wish; it is a deep-seated yearning that propels an individual toward spiritual fervor and commitment.

The biblical reference from Psalm 42:1 illustrates this concept beautifully, as it expresses a longing for God akin to a deer thirsting for water. This verse prompts reflection on the depth of one’s desire for the supernatural. It raises critical questions about whether one seeks the Holy Spirit, divine empowerment, and the wisdom of Jesus Christ, or if one is content to rely solely on intellectual knowledge acquired through formal education. In many instances, the teachings of academia may fall short, particularly when confronting challenges that transcend the natural realm. The spiritual realm operates on principles that often defy conventional understanding, where the efficacy of faith and boldness can yield results that mere words cannot.

The essence of activating the anointing of the Holy Spirit lies in the believer’s heart, driven by an insatiable desire for spiritual renewal and divine impartation. This hunger and thirst for righteousness, as articulated in Matthew 5:6, underscores the principle that those who earnestly seek will be filled. In the divine economy, the currency of exchange is rooted in one’s spiritual appetite; thus, approaching God with a heart full of longing and need is essential for receiving His blessings. To engage in this exchange, one must come with a thirst for righteousness and a hunger for spiritual fulfillment, recognizing that such desires are pivotal in experiencing the fullness of God’s grace and presence in one’s life.

In Isaiah 55, particularly from verses 1 to 3, the text invites all who are thirsty to come and partake of the waters, emphasizing that even those without financial means can still buy and eat. This passage highlights a fundamental principle within the divine economy: the acknowledgment of human hunger and thirst as valid forms of exchange. It suggests that when individuals approach God with genuine hunger and thirst, they are met with the promise of fulfillment. The essence of this message is that God is always ready to provide for those who earnestly seek Him, and it encourages readers to engage with the scripture personally to grasp its full meaning.

The notion that desire is evidenced by pursuit is a critical theme in understanding the dynamics of spiritual longing. When one truly desires something, it manifests in the form of active pursuit; mere wishing lacks the same potency. For instance, in the context of relationships, the speaker reflects on their courtship, illustrating how their desire for their partner was demonstrated through consistent effort and presence. This pursuit was so evident that even those outside the relationship, such as the gatekeeper, recognized the commitment. Thus, the act of pursuing what one desires serves as a tangible proof of that desire, distinguishing it from mere wishful thinking.

Transitioning to the topic of nurturing the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the speaker emphasizes the importance of desire and the necessity of spending time in fellowship with God, particularly through prayer and worship. The act of pursuing God’s presence is framed as essential for activating the divine within one’s life. Engaging in worship and prayer not only deepens one’s relationship with God but also serves as a catalyst for experiencing His presence more profoundly. The call to be a “God chaser” underscores the importance of intentionality in spiritual pursuits, urging individuals to actively seek and cultivate their connection with the divine through dedicated time spent in communion with Him.

Paul and Silas found themselves imprisoned, yet they chose to engage in prayer and worship, lifting their voices in praise to God. In response to their devotion, a miraculous earthquake occurred, signifying the activation of divine presence. This situation prompts reflection on the nature of faith and the importance of seeking God’s intervention. It is not through complaints or emotional outbursts that one can expect divine assistance; rather, it is through unwavering faith that one can invoke God’s presence. Engaging in worship, prayer, and praise serves as a catalyst for activating this faith, emphasizing the necessity of intentionality in seeking a connection with the divine.

Drawing from personal experience, I recall my time as an undergraduate when I had the privilege of leading a ministry. During this period, I recognized the significance of being intentional about spending time in God’s presence. This commitment yielded remarkable results, as the atmosphere of worship flourished and the power of God became increasingly evident. My daily routine was structured around my spiritual pursuits; I would rise early to engage in prayer and reflection, prioritizing my relationship with God alongside my academic responsibilities. With no other obligations to distract me, my focus remained steadfast on pursuing God and excelling in my studies.

Throughout my five years studying engineering, I maintained a disciplined approach to my spiritual life, ensuring that my academic commitments did not hinder my devotion. Each morning began with prayer, followed by attending classes without fail. Upon returning from class, my first task was to dedicate thirty minutes to praying in the Spirit before attending to my studies or other activities. This consistent practice not only deepened my faith but also instilled a remarkable boldness within me, which many around me found astonishing. The intertwining of my academic and spiritual pursuits exemplified the profound impact of intentionality in seeking God’s presence, ultimately leading to a fulfilling and successful university experience.

I recall a particular day when the atmosphere on campus was charged with chaos, reminiscent of the warnings often given: “do not attempt this at home.” The school was engulfed in turmoil, particularly within my faculty, which was notorious for its rampant cult activities. Despite the warnings from my peers urging me to stay away, I felt compelled to go to my faculty. My determination to engage with my studies was unwavering, even though, in hindsight, I can chuckle at some of my actions during that time, which were heavily influenced by external factors.

On one notable occasion, a violent confrontation erupted between two rival cult factions at the Student Union Building. Upon hearing the news, I immediately reached out to my fellowship members, urging them to join me in responding to the crisis. Tragically, a young man had been shot, and while others fled the scene, we rushed to assist him, transporting him to the health center. In the midst of this chaos, I proposed to my fellowship leaders that we encircle the Student Union Building in prayer, akin to the biblical story of Jericho, declaring that no further lives would be lost in that space as long as we were present. We dedicated several hours to this mission, fervently praying and seeking divine intervention.

After our prayer session, we ascended to the upper room of the Student Union Building, where we engaged in spiritual activities, laying hands on one another and enjoying a profound sense of community. We effectively reclaimed the Student Union Building, transforming it into a sanctuary free from the influence of cultists and substance abusers. In subsequent fellowship meetings, I confidently announced that the Student Union Building would no longer serve as a haven for such activities; instead, it would become a place for study and prayer. We began to gather there regularly, sharing meals with fellow students and inviting them to join us in prayer. This initiative not only fostered a sense of unity but also ensured that, throughout our time at the school, the negative occurrences associated with cultism diminished significantly, as we actively lived out our faith in a tangible manner.

It is essential, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to declare that as long as I am present, such occurrences will cease, for I am a vessel of God’s purpose in this world. My commitment to embody this truth is unwavering, and I aspire to witness a transformative impact in my surroundings. It is possible that my assertions may seem beyond the comprehension of some, as evidenced by the expressions of disbelief directed towards me. However, I assure you that divine grace is accessible to all, and it is imperative to actively seek and embrace His presence in our lives.

A crucial aspect of nurturing this divine connection is the consistent study and meditation on the Word of God.

Just as a fire requires fuel to sustain its flames, our spiritual lives need the Word to thrive. The Scriptures serve as that vital fuel, and by continually immersing ourselves in them, we ensure that the fire of the Holy Spirit remains vibrant within us. Colossians 3:16 emphasizes the importance of allowing the Word of Christ to dwell richly within us. When we internalize these teachings, we are equipped to recall the promises and works of Christ during times of trial, igniting a supernatural fervor that empowers us to navigate life’s challenges.

Furthermore, the anointing of the Holy Spirit can be intensified through active engagement and the sharing of spiritual gifts. This concept is illustrated in the parable of the talents, which teaches that what we utilize will be multiplied by God. Therefore, it is vital to examine our current stance regarding divine intervention. Are we merely waiting for others to take action, or are we stepping forward to influence circumstances ourselves? By committing to prayer, laying hands, and taking initiative, we not only foster our own faith but also invite greater grace into our lives. This proactive approach activates the anointing, allowing us to make a significant difference in the world around us.

It is essential to utilize the resources currently available to you rather than becoming fixated on acquiring more power than necessary. Consider the individual who possesses multiple generators of varying capacities—5KVA, 15KVA, and 25KVA—yet struggles to operate the largest one simply to watch television. This scenario illustrates a common mindset where individuals believe that their existing capabilities are insufficient, leading them to overlook simpler solutions. Instead of yearning for greater power, one should recognize that the 5KVA generator is entirely adequate for the task at hand. This principle extends beyond material possessions; it applies to spiritual practices as well. Begin by focusing on the immediate needs, such as praying for your children, who will readily accept your guidance without question.

The act of prayer, particularly for children, is a powerful practice that should not be underestimated. Unlike adults, who may express skepticism or doubt regarding the efficacy of prayer, children are open and receptive. By initiating this practice with the younger generation, you create a foundation for spiritual growth and understanding. It is crucial to remember that you are not the source of healing; rather, you serve as a representative of a higher power. Embrace this role and allow the divine influence to manifest through you. As you engage in these practices, you will witness the transformative power of faith in your life, which will gradually expand and deepen over time.

Furthermore, the importance of community and belonging to a church or small group cannot be overstated. Engaging with others in a faith-based environment fosters an atmosphere of mutual support and spiritual impartation. The connections formed within these groups can lead to significant personal growth, as individuals share their experiences and insights. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to Timothy, emphasized the importance of laying hands on others to impart spiritual gifts, urging Timothy to “fan into flame” the gifts already present within him. This notion highlights that the act of impartation is not about providing something entirely new but rather awakening and nurturing the potential that already exists. Therefore, it is vital to remain connected to a community where you can receive guidance, training, and encouragement in your spiritual journey.

In contemporary society, there appears to be a diminishing belief in the concept of discipleship. The dynamics of discipleship can be illustrated through the biblical narrative of Elijah and Elisha, where the transformative spirit of Elijah is conferred upon Elisha. This relationship exemplifies that discipleship is not merely about physical contact or formal initiation; rather, it is rooted in a commitment to follow and learn. Elijah’s instruction to Elisha was simple yet profound: to keep following and to maintain focus. The essence of this relationship lies in the intentionality of the disciple, who must remain observant and receptive to the teachings and spirit of the mentor.

The moment Elijah was taken up, Elisha’s declaration, “I see you, my father, my father,” signifies a deep recognition of the spiritual inheritance he was about to receive. The mantle that fell upon him was not just a physical object; it represented the continuation of Elijah’s prophetic mission and the empowerment of Elisha to perform miracles, such as parting the River Jordan. This pivotal moment raises critical questions about the influences in our lives: Who are we following? Who is guiding our spiritual journey? The answers to these questions are essential for nurturing the gifts of the Spirit and the anointing of God within us. It is imperative to engage with mentors and communities that inspire and challenge us to grow in our faith.

As we seek to deepen our spiritual lives, it is vital to open our hearts to the divine supply of the Holy Spirit. By lifting our hands in surrender, we invite God’s presence to fill us anew, empowering us to transcend the ordinary and embrace the supernatural. This desire for a transformative experience is not merely a wish for extraordinary occurrences but a commitment to embody the nature of God in our daily lives. Acknowledging that we are not ordinary, but rather vessels of the divine, allows us to witness the impact of God’s presence in all our endeavors. Therefore, let us celebrate this divine connection and the blessings it brings, affirming our identity as naturally supernatural beings in the service of God.

As we approach the conclusion of our service, it is essential to take a moment to pray for those among us who have yet to find salvation. However, prior to engaging in this prayer, I would like to invite everyone to participate in a collective confession. If you do not already possess this confession, I encourage you to download it from our website or access it through our various social media channels. We will display the financial confession on the screen, and together we will recite it. This practice is something we engage in every Sunday during this period, and once this time concludes, you will have the opportunity to make it a personal declaration in your life.

I invite everyone to raise their voices and repeat after me: “I am a spirit, born of the Spirit, and I embody the nature of God.” Let us acknowledge that the Spirit of God resides within us, guiding, empowering, and protecting us. This divine presence shapes our thoughts and actions, allowing us to express our capabilities through the Spirit. We transcend the limitations of our five senses and the confines of human understanding, embracing our supernatural existence. Each day, we live in a realm that surpasses the ordinary, governed by divine nature and extraordinary abilities.

As we affirm our supernatural identity, we recognize that divine wisdom, power, peace, patience, love, and joy are integral to our being, manifesting in our lives daily. We are not constrained by external factors such as economic conditions, medical limitations, political systems, or financial challenges. Our resilience and perception are rooted in a strength that defies ordinary comprehension. When others encounter us and witness the fruits of our labor, they perceive the divine essence within us. Let us celebrate this truth together, acknowledging our supernatural nature and the extraordinary life we lead. If you resonate with this declaration, let us come together in praise and celebrate the presence of Jesus today. Hallelujah!
