DON’T ACCEPT DEFEAT

Let us delve into the teachings of the Scriptures, particularly for those who find themselves on the brink of surrendering to despair. As I address you this evening, I assure you that the transformative power of the Holy Spirit is poised to enter your heart, instilling within you a renewed sense of courage. By the conclusion of this conference, you will emerge as a formidable presence, a giant within the kingdom, empowered by the name of the Lord Jesus. The notion of defeat will become a relic of the past, overshadowed by the strength and resilience that will be bestowed upon you in the name of Jesus.

I am speaking directly to someone who is poised to experience a significant shift in their life over the next three days. As we engage in prayer and immerse ourselves in the community of faith, you will cultivate a heightened awareness of the divine presence within you. This concept, which I refer to as being ‘God inside conscious,’ may seem unconventional, yet it encapsulates the profound realization of the power you possess. It is all too easy to succumb to feelings of defeat when one is unaware of the divine potential that resides within. The story of the prophet Elijah serves as a poignant reminder of this truth, illustrating how perception can dramatically alter our circumstances.

In the biblical account, when the Syrian army threatened, the servant of Elijah had succumbed to despair, believing defeat was inevitable. However, upon the prophet’s intercession, God opened the servant’s eyes, revealing the multitude of divine forces arrayed in their favor. This revelation transformed his understanding, shifting his perspective from one of fear to one of hope and assurance. The atmosphere around him changed as he recognized that the forces supporting them far outnumbered those opposing them. This narrative underscores the importance of spiritual awareness and the profound impact it can have on our lives, reminding us that we are never truly alone in our struggles.

This evening’s discussion will focus on two key words that are essential for receiving marvelous help from God and avoiding defeat: atmosphere and capacity. It is crucial to be aware of the atmosphere surrounding your life in order to experience divine intervention. Each individual has different atmospheres influencing their lives, and recognizing these can lead to a deeper understanding of one’s circumstances. In 2 Kings 6:26, a woman in distress calls out to the king of Israel for help, highlighting the importance of seeking assistance in challenging times.

The passage in 2 Kings describes a dire situation in Samaria, where a great famine had struck due to the siege by Ben-Hadad, the king of Syria. The scarcity was so severe that basic commodities like a donkey’s head and dove droppings were being sold at exorbitant prices. The king of Israel himself was passing by when a woman cried out for help, emphasizing the desperation and need for divine intervention in such trying times. The king’s response, questioning where help could come from in such a desolate situation, underscores the severity of the circumstances.

The imagery of the dried-up threshing floor and winepress symbolizes the economic devastation caused by the siege of Samaria. These locations, once bustling with activity and productivity, were now barren and unfruitful. The king’s acknowledgment of the dire situation facing the woman reflects the harsh reality of the times. Despite the challenges and hardships, the narrative in 2 Kings serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing the need for divine help and intervention in times of crisis. It prompts reflection on the significance of being conscious of the atmospheres that surround our lives and seeking assistance from a higher power in moments of need.

The term “besieged” is closely related to the military term “siege,” which refers to a military operation in which an area is surrounded and isolated, usually with the aim of forcing the surrender of those inside. When a military siege is imposed on a territory, it brings everything to a standstill. Nothing can flow freely, and there is a sense of stagnation and restriction. This can have a profound impact on the lives of the people within the besieged area, affecting their daily activities, access to resources, and overall well-being.

In the context of the prayer conference, the speaker emphasizes the idea of breaking the siege that may be affecting the lives of the attendees. The use of the term “siege” is symbolic of the various challenges and obstacles that individuals may be facing in different aspects of their lives, such as family, career, business, and personal well-being. By invoking the name of Jesus and the power of God, the speaker seeks to bring about a sense of liberation and freedom from these metaphorical sieges, allowing for a renewed sense of hope and possibility.

The speaker highlights the role of faith and the power of God’s anointing in breaking the hold of the siege. By emphasizing the concept of the anointing as a force that can remove burdens and destroy the power of the siege, the speaker encourages the attendees to release their faith and trust in God’s ability to bring about a breakthrough in their lives. The message conveys a sense of optimism and reassurance, assuring the audience that God is capable of removing the siege from their marriages, careers, and other areas of their lives, bringing about a sense of freedom and restoration.

The Bible passage recounts the story of a king who was facing a dire situation, as his kingdom was under siege and resources were scarce. In verse 28, the king encounters a woman who is deeply troubled, and she reveals a shocking and distressing account. The woman describes how, in the midst of the siege, another woman proposed a horrifying plan to survive by resorting to cannibalism. This revelation adds to the already overwhelming atmosphere of desperation and hopelessness that permeates the kingdom during the siege.

The passage emphasizes the impact of an atmosphere of desperation, highlighting how it can lead individuals to make irrational and drastic decisions. The woman’s account of the proposal to consume her own son, followed by the other woman’s son, underscores the extreme measures people may consider when faced with desperation. The narrative also underscores the consequences of such desperation, as it leads individuals to part with valuable resources without careful consideration, ultimately resulting in significant loss and damage.

Furthermore, the passage delves into the theme of betrayal within the context of desperation. The woman’s account reveals a profound sense of betrayal, as she describes how the other woman reneged on their agreement, causing further distress and hopelessness. This portrayal of betrayal within the narrative serves as a cautionary tale, warning against misplaced trust and false promises, particularly in times of desperation. The passage serves as a poignant reminder of the detrimental effects of desperation and betrayal, urging individuals to exercise discernment and resilience in the face of adversity.

Engaging in a partnership often involves a clear delineation of responsibilities, where each party agrees on their respective roles and contributions. However, the reality can sometimes lead to unforeseen circumstances that create an atmosphere of distrust and disillusionment. In a particularly harrowing account, a woman recounted a tragic situation where desperation led to the unimaginable act of cannibalism, stating, “So we boiled my son and ate him.” This narrative highlights the extreme measures individuals may resort to when faced with dire conditions, as she later revealed that she had hidden her son, indicating a profound sense of betrayal and loss.

The gravity of this situation reached the ears of the king, who, upon hearing the woman’s lament, was visibly moved to the point of tearing his garments. As he walked along the city wall, the people observed his distress, noting that he wore sackcloth beneath his clothing, a traditional sign of mourning and despair. This moment serves as a poignant reminder of the collective suffering experienced by the community, as the king’s reaction underscores the severity of the crisis at hand. The narrative illustrates not only the personal tragedy of the woman but also the broader implications of societal breakdown and the impact of external circumstances on individual lives.

In light of such distressing events, it is imperative for communities to come together in prayer and solidarity

particularly during challenging times. The current state of the nation, marked by economic instability and widespread hardship, affects everyone, regardless of their personal circumstances or business endeavors. Even those who may not directly contribute to the prevailing issues, such as currency devaluation, find themselves ensnared in the consequences of a faltering economy. Therefore, participation in prayer groups is not merely an act of faith but a necessary response to the collective struggles faced by the nation. It is essential to recognize that while individual needs may be met, the broader context of societal challenges requires a unified approach to seek divine intervention and support.

Let us come together in prayer for Nigeria and our nation as a whole. There is a need for a shift in the atmosphere that hangs over our land. Currently, there is a prevailing sense of despondency and frustration that is affecting the people. This atmosphere of negativity can hinder us from receiving the marvelous help that we need. It is crucial that we push against this atmosphere through prayer and faith, believing that God will intervene and bring about a positive change.

In times of crisis, it is common for people to look for someone to blame. The king in the story decided to blame the prophet, which is quite prophetic considering the current situation where people are quick to blame the prophets and the church for the nation’s woes. However, it is important to note that sometimes the blame game is not productive and can lead to further division and strife. Instead of looking for someone to blame, we should focus on finding solutions and working together to overcome the challenges that we face as a nation.

Elijah, in the story, was minding his own business when he was unfairly targeted by the king. Despite the unjust accusations against him, Elijah remained steadfast in his faith and trusted in God’s power to bring about a miraculous change. This serves as a reminder that God can use unlikely people to accomplish His purposes and that we should not underestimate the power of faith and prayer. As we move forward, let us hold on to our faith, believing that God will intervene in our nation’s affairs and bring about a positive transformation.

An individual who possessed great knowledge once stated that even if God were to open the windows of heaven, a certain event would not come to pass. This story may sound familiar to you, but as you delve into the third verse of 2nd Kings Chapter 7, you will encounter four leprous men positioned at the gate. These men questioned why they were merely sitting there awaiting death. When God initiates movement in one’s life, He often chooses unlikely individuals to inspire them with ideas and thoughts that will propel them towards their destined path. This divine intervention aims to bring about a significant change, creating a shift that will impact your life in profound ways.

The narrative of the leprous men who decided to take action at twilight serves as a powerful lesson. They refused to remain stagnant, realizing that they could not afford to stay idle any longer. This story has been a subject of numerous teachings, emphasizing the prophetic nature of God’s ability to orchestrate shifts in our lives through unexpected means. It is crucial to recognize that God works in mysterious ways, often employing individuals who may seem unlikely to play a pivotal role in our journey towards fulfilling His purpose for us.

As you navigate through this season of change, it is essential to remain open-hearted and receptive to God’s guidance. Sometimes, in our prayers, we may inadvertently fixate on a specific individual, believing that they are the key to our breakthrough. However, God’s plans may involve entirely different individuals who are not on our radar. By acknowledging that God is the ultimate source of our blessings and that He can use anyone as a channel for His divine intervention, we cultivate a deeper sense of faith and trust in His providence. Therefore, focus your attention on God during this season of transformation, for He may choose unlikely people to bring about the shift you have been waiting for.

It is common for individuals to exhibit a sense of entitlement when visiting a fuel station, demanding to be served from a specific pump. However, this behavior is not always conducive to a smooth transaction. When you arrive at a petrol station, the attendants will direct you to the pump that is currently in service. It is essential to follow their instructions in order to obtain the fuel you require. Refusing to comply with their guidance will only result in you being unable to access the fuel you need. This practice is not unique to petrol stations; it is a standard procedure that ensures efficiency and orderliness in service delivery.

In a spiritual context, the concept of identifying the pump that is in service can be likened to seeking divine guidance and direction. Just as the petrol station attendants point you towards the operational pump, believers are encouraged to seek God’s will and follow His lead. By aligning oneself with God’s plan, one can experience a positive shift in their circumstances. This shift is not merely a physical one but a transformation of the heart and mind, enabling individuals to overcome challenges and obstacles that may be hindering their progress.

It is crucial for individuals to assess the atmosphere they are currently in and identify any negative influences that may be impeding their growth and faith.

Whether it is feelings of hopelessness, fear, disappointment, or containment, recognizing these factors is the first step towards breaking free from their hold. By acknowledging the presence of these negative atmospheres, individuals can begin to trust in God’s capacity to bring about change and deliverance. Through faith, perseverance, and a willingness to confront these challenges head-on, individuals can experience a shift in their circumstances and move towards a brighter future.

If you possess a pen or any writing instrument, I encourage you to take a moment to write down the atmosphere around you. In just a few minutes, we will call that atmosphere by name. According to the Bible, there is a name that is above every other name, and as you call upon the name of Jesus Christ tonight, the atmospheres will begin to shift in this place. It is important to name the atmosphere over your family, business, or any project you are working on. Some projects may be stalled due to a negative atmosphere, such as bitterness, which can make everything seem dark and gloomy. It is crucial to shift that atmosphere this season.

Additionally, we need to trust God for capacity, as mentioned in Mark chapter 2 verse 22. The Bible teaches us that new wine must be put into new wineskins, and God is not wasteful with His resources. He desires to give new capacity, and it is essential to believe in this capacity. This season, God is providing new capacity, starting with the capacity to believe. I urge you to read 2nd Kings chapters 4, 6, and 7 to understand how God teaches us to relate to Him. For example, in 2nd Kings 4, there is a story about a widow who cried out to Elisha for help when creditors were coming to take her sons as slaves after her husband’s death. This story illustrates how God can shift things in our lives.

In conclusion, it is important to recognize the power of naming the atmosphere and trusting God for new capacity. By calling upon the name of Jesus Christ, we can shift the atmospheres around us. It is crucial to believe in the new capacity that God is providing and to understand how to relate to Him through the stories in the Bible. As we seek to shift the atmosphere and trust in God’s provision, we can experience positive changes and blessings in our lives.

Elisha inquired of the woman what assistance she required, asking her to disclose what resources she possessed within her home. This situation highlighted the importance of one’s capacity to receive help; often, divine intervention necessitates a shift in one’s mindset and readiness to accept change. For this particular woman, God was poised to perform a miracle, and the directive given was to seek out additional capacity. Elisha instructed her to go and borrow vessels, emphasizing the need to expand her capacity to receive blessings. When she responded that she had nothing but a single jar of oil, Elisha reiterated the importance of her actions, urging her to reach out to her neighbors and gather as many vessels as possible, signaling a pivotal moment for her to increase her capacity.

The call to action was clear: it was time to elevate her expectations and belief in the possibilities that lay ahead. The message resonated with the notion that one must possess the capacity to believe in the face of adversity. As the gathering commenced, the atmosphere was charged with determination, and the encouragement to reject defeat became paramount. Participants were urged to confront their challenges boldly, declaring their refusal to accept failure in various aspects of their lives, whether concerning their children, businesses, or relationships. The collective resolve to change one’s mindset and assertively communicate to the adversary that defeat was no longer an option was a powerful declaration of faith and resilience.

The narrative of Elisha’s encounter with the woman parallels the story of Naaman, the Syrian general, who also stood on the brink of receiving extraordinary assistance. Despite his high rank and success in his military career, Naaman was afflicted with leprosy, illustrating the duality of life where one can excel in certain areas while struggling in others. This juxtaposition serves as a reminder that regardless of one’s circumstances, God is always ready to provide marvelous help. The key lies in recognizing the need for transformation and being open to the divine possibilities that await. Just as Elisha encouraged the woman to gather vessels without limitation, so too must individuals be willing to embrace the fullness of what God has to offer, ensuring that their capacity for blessings is not only acknowledged but actively sought after.

In the narrative found in the fifth chapter of Second Kings, a significant event unfolds involving Naaman, a commander of the Syrian army. The story reveals that Naaman, afflicted with leprosy, learns of a potential remedy through a young Jewish servant girl who had been taken captive. This servant girl, recognizing Naaman’s plight, informs him of a prophet in her homeland who possesses the ability to heal his condition. During that era, individuals often sought the intervention of a man of God for miraculous assistance, highlighting the importance of faith and divine connection in overcoming personal challenges. In contemporary times, while believers carry the presence of God within them, it remains essential to cultivate a consciousness of this divine presence in daily life.

Upon arriving in Israel, Naaman is directed to the prophet Elisha, who, rather than meeting him personally, sends a messenger with instructions. The messenger conveys Elisha’s directive for Naaman to immerse himself in the Jordan River seven times, promising that his skin would be restored and he would be cleansed. However, Naaman’s reaction is one of anger and disappointment. He had anticipated a more dramatic encounter, envisioning Elisha personally invoking the name of the Lord and performing a grand gesture to effectuate his healing. This expectation reflects a common tendency among individuals to impose their own preferences and preconceived notions on how divine intervention should manifest, often leading to frustration when reality does not align with their expectations.

Naaman’s experience serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of attempting to dictate the terms of divine action. His frustration stemmed from a belief that he could manipulate the process of healing by outlining specific demands for how it should occur. This mindset underscores a broader lesson about the nature of faith and the relationship between humanity and the divine. When individuals attempt to control or prescribe the methods through which God operates, they risk undermining the very essence of faith, which requires trust and surrender to a higher wisdom. Ultimately, Naaman’s journey illustrates the importance of remaining open to God’s ways, which may often be unexpected and contrary to personal expectations, reminding believers that true faith involves relinquishing control and embracing the divine plan.

Some individuals may find themselves in a position where they believe they know better than God and attempt to dictate to Him how He should interact with them. However, this approach does not lead to receiving the wonderful help that God can provide. Instead, it is essential to adopt an attitude of humility. One of the key ways to demonstrate humility is through prayer. By setting aside time to pray and seek God, individuals can show their willingness to submit to His will and guidance. This act of humility is not only a personal endeavor but can also be demonstrated by participating in a prayer community, whether online or offline.

As we approach the second half of the year, it is important to make a conscious decision about how we want to proceed. Rather than running around and relying solely on our own efforts, it is beneficial to allow God to inspire and guide us. This can be achieved by seeking Him, serving Him, and participating in activities that align with His will. Creating a personal altar for worship and prayer, as well as joining a prayer group, can help cultivate a new habit of seeking God in the right way. By doing so, individuals can demonstrate their commitment to understanding and fulfilling God’s purpose for their lives.

In the biblical story of Naaman, we see an example of humility and respect. Naaman’s servant approached him with reverence and addressed him as “my father, my father.” This respectful tone was not directed at Naaman’s earthly father, but rather conveyed a sense of honor and deference. The servant’s humility and respectful approach ultimately led to Naaman’s healing and transformation. This story serves as a reminder that humility, respect, and a willingness to listen to wise counsel can bring about a positive turnaround in one’s life. By embracing these qualities and seeking God with sincerity, individuals can open themselves up to the transformative power of His grace and guidance.
