CREATING SOLUTIONS

This morning, I invite you to open your Bibles to the foundational text found in Genesis Chapter 2. Last week, we delved into the importance of being enterprising, emphasizing that entrepreneurship extends beyond merely launching a business. It encompasses a mindset that can be applied in various contexts, including your current job. If you embody an enterprising spirit, you distinguish yourself from others. We explored various synonyms for “enterprising,” such as “craving,” “daring,” and “spark plug,” highlighting that God desires for you to be a catalyst for action. Just as a spark plug ignites motion in a vehicle without setting it ablaze, your role in any enterprise should be to drive progress. If the organization you are part of is stagnant, your ability to contribute meaningfully is compromised. The scripture reminds us that faithfulness in small matters leads to greater responsibilities, prompting us to reflect on our current level of enterprise.

As we continue our discussion this morning, I encourage you to join me in examining how God has uniquely designed you for enterprise, as outlined in Genesis Chapter 2. I have titled today’s message “Creating Solutions,” and I urge you to affirm this truth by telling your neighbor that you are a solution provider. This declaration is not merely a statement; it is a recognition of your potential to contribute positively to your environment. Embrace the idea that you are equipped to offer solutions, and let us explore together how we can harness this divine wiring for the benefit of our communities and workplaces. Praise God for the opportunities that lie ahead as we embark on this journey of discovery and empowerment.

In Genesis chapter 2, beginning with verse 5, it is stated that prior to the existence of any plants or herbs on the earth, the Lord had refrained from causing rain to fall, as there was no man available to cultivate the land. This indicates a significant issue: the absence of humanity to engage in agricultural labor meant that God withheld the necessary resources for growth. Verse 4 introduces the narrative by detailing the creation of the heavens and the earth, emphasizing that the environment was not yet prepared for vegetation due to the lack of a caretaker. The implication here is that God, in His wisdom, chose not to initiate the natural processes of growth until there was someone to manage and nurture the land.

As the narrative progresses to verse 8, we observe a pivotal moment where the Lord God establishes a garden in Eden, placing the man He had created within it. This act signifies the resolution to the earlier problem of unutilized land. Furthermore, in verse 15, God assigns the man the responsibility of tending to and maintaining the garden, thereby providing a clear purpose for humanity’s existence. This sequence of events illustrates a deliberate plan: God first creates the man to ensure that the resources of the earth are utilized effectively, thereby establishing a harmonious relationship between creation and its caretaker.

It has been articulated that one should actively nurture and safeguard their responsibilities. This notion is reiterated with emphasis on the importance of stewardship, as we recognize the challenges that exist and the divine intervention that led to the creation of humanity. The assignment bestowed upon man was intentional, as he was designed with the inherent capability to fulfill the role of caretaker and protector. It is essential to acknowledge that each individual is a solution in their own right, as exemplified by the creation of Adam, who was specifically fashioned to tend to the garden rather than the garden being created for him. This foundational truth underscores the purpose of humanity as a provider of solutions, an agent of change, and a catalyst for progress.

The essence of human existence is rooted in the ability to generate value and address challenges, rather than merely seeking financial gain. Value is defined by the contributions one makes to the world, emphasizing a solution-oriented mindset over a monetary focus. Interestingly, when one prioritizes the creation of value, financial abundance often follows as a natural consequence. It is crucial to recognize that the comforts and conveniences we enjoy today are the results of someone else’s innovative solutions to past problems. Many of the seemingly trivial aspects of our lives were once significant challenges, and it is through the lens of problem-solving that we can appreciate our own potential as embodiments of solutions.

Envision a world devoid of traffic lights, a concept that emerged as urban areas expanded and the need for traffic regulation became apparent. In this scenario, a visionary proposed a solution to manage the flow of vehicles at intersections. The initial design of traffic lights featured only red and green signals, a concept that originated in America. However, as the complexities of traffic patterns became evident, an innovative thinker suggested the introduction of an amber light to serve as a transitional signal. This addition was a simple yet profound enhancement, allowing drivers to prepare for changes in traffic flow rather than facing abrupt stops or starts.

Similarly, consider the seemingly trivial yet impactful invention of clothes hangers. Many individuals may overlook their significance, yet they play a crucial role in organizing and maintaining our garments. The absence of such a simple tool can lead to disarray in personal spaces, a testament to the necessity of embracing practical solutions. Throughout history, both the first and second Adams—representing humanity’s origins and its redemption through Jesus Christ—serve as embodiments of divine solutions to human challenges. Jesus, anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, exemplified benevolence through acts of kindness and problem-solving, addressing the needs of those oppressed and demonstrating the profound impact of thoughtful interventions in our lives.

It is essential to grasp the significance of the anointing of Jesus Christ of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, as it embodies a profound commitment to addressing the needs of others. This anointing empowered Him to actively seek out and resolve various issues within society. For instance, consider the concept of zebra crossings; while their implementation may not be optimal in Nigeria, it is crucial to recognize that these solutions stem from innovative thinking. If individuals take it upon themselves to advocate for the proper use of zebra crossings, they can contribute to a transformative movement. It is imperative to acknowledge that we are no longer living in primitive times; we must adhere to established safety measures and ensure that pedestrians feel secure when crossing roads marked by these crossings. The inception of such ideas is a testament to human creativity and problem-solving.

Furthermore,

when God commands humanity to be fruitful, He is not solely referring to procreation but rather to the cultivation of value and the provision of solutions to societal challenges.

This notion extends beyond mere physical offspring; it encompasses the creation of ideas and innovations that benefit the world at large. The concept of “brain children” illustrates this point effectively. For example, the simple yet revolutionary invention of the needle and thread has laid the groundwork for the creation of garments, showcasing how even the smallest ideas can have a significant impact. Today, we often take for granted the convenience of clothing and the tools we use to maintain them, such as needles for sewing on buttons. Recognizing the importance of these innovations encourages a mindset focused on creativity and problem-solving, which is essential for progress in any society.

The inquiry regarding the origin of the needle prompts a reflection on the interconnectedness of human actions and their consequences. If individuals had not engaged in the creation of such tools, the implications for society would have been profound, potentially stunting progress and innovation. This notion extends to our relationships with others; for instance, when we engage with our neighbors, we are reminded of the importance of community and the role of familial connections, such as inquiring about grandchildren. The act of problem-solving is essential, as it is through addressing challenges that we foster wealth creation. This process is inherently linked to service, emphasizing that true sustainability arises not merely from self-preservation but from a commitment to serving others.

Furthermore, the concept of the Adamic mandate underscores our responsibility to enhance and cultivate the earth, ensuring its prosperity and productivity. This mandate calls for active participation in the betterment of our environment, urging us to take initiative in making the world a more fruitful place. It is essential to recognize that when one is called to a purpose, the necessary tools and resources are provided to fulfill that calling. Thus, embracing this mandate not only aligns with our duty to the earth but also enriches our lives and the lives of those around us, fostering a cycle of growth and abundance.

Adam was fully prepared to carry out his divine purpose, a fact that should remain at the forefront of our understanding. As I transition towards concluding this discussion, I would like to momentarily set aside religious perspectives, particularly those that regard the Bible as a religious text. Instead, let us examine the scientific classification of humanity, specifically the term Homo sapiens. According to scientific literature, Homo sapiens is defined as a species of bipedal primates that includes modern humans. This classification highlights several key characteristics: a developed brain, reliance on language, and the ability to create and use complex tools. This scientific perspective provides a foundational understanding of our identity as human beings.

The definition of Homo sapiens emphasizes that we are a species distinguished by our physical and cognitive attributes. It notes that modern humans are bipedal primates, which underscores our evolutionary lineage. Furthermore, the mention of our brain capacity and linguistic dependence points to our unique ability to acquire knowledge and communicate effectively. Additionally, the capacity for creating and utilizing intricate tools reflects our advanced problem-solving skills. When we consider the biblical account of creation, it is evident that God fashioned Adam as a complete being, embodying both physical and spiritual dimensions. This complexity renders humanity a powerful entity, capable of profound thought and action, thus reinforcing the significance of our existence in both a scientific and spiritual context.

The human brain possesses unique qualities that distinguish humanity as a remarkable species, a fact that continues to intrigue scientists who strive to understand the monumental achievements of ancient civilizations, such as the construction of the Egyptian pyramids. These architectural marvels were erected without the advanced machinery and tools available today, raising profound questions about the ingenuity and capabilities of those who built them. The sheer scale and precision of these structures, some of which stand at heights of ten stories, challenge our understanding of human potential in the absence of modern technology. This leads to a deeper contemplation of the divine design behind humanity, suggesting that the Creator endowed us with extraordinary cognitive abilities that transcend mere physical prowess. Our spiritual nature allows us to perceive beyond the tangible world, enabling us to devise innovative solutions that can address complex challenges.

It is essential to recognize that our creative capacities are not merely a byproduct of evolution but rather a fundamental aspect of our existence as beings created in the image of God. While some may reduce humanity to a biological classification, it is crucial to acknowledge that we are not ordinary creatures; we are designed to innovate and progress. This divine intention extends beyond traditional expressions of faith, such as prayer and fasting, to include the act of creation itself. God takes delight in the creativity of believers, understanding that our ability to generate new ideas and solutions is a reflection of His own creative nature. Thus, the essence of Christianity encompasses not only a call to holiness but also an invitation to engage in the transformative power of creativity, which is vital for the advancement of our world.

It is essential to recognize the significance of holiness in our relationship with God, as He emphasizes that without it, one cannot truly perceive Him. As individuals endeavor to embody holiness and embrace the righteousness bestowed upon them through Christ Jesus, they are also granted the grace necessary to confront and overcome sin. The Scriptures reveal that God, in His creative essence, declared the intention to create humanity in His own image and likeness. This divine act implies that, as beings fashioned in the image of God, we are endowed with the capacity for creativity, authority, righteousness, and holiness. Therefore, it is imperative to understand that our creative potential mirrors that of our Creator, and we are called to express this creativity in our lives.

Humanity, characterized by its bipedal nature, possesses remarkable capabilities, including the ability to produce, innovate, and think critically.

The power of the human brain is a formidable force, facilitating thought, imagination, memory, and advanced intelligence. A notable biblical figure, Daniel, exemplified this extraordinary intelligence, serving under multiple rulers, including Darius and Cyrus. His ability to navigate the complexities of political power and maintain his position despite changing administrations speaks volumes about his unique combination of intellectual prowess and spiritual insight. This scenario raises the question of whether such a phenomenon could occur in contemporary settings, where an individual remains indispensable to leadership despite political rivalries. The synergy of heightened intelligence and spiritual authority equips believers with the potential to excel in various endeavors, underscoring that they are far from ordinary in their capabilities.

Psalm 19 begins with the profound assertion that each day communicates knowledge and each night reveals wisdom, emphasizing that there exists no language or dialect in which this message is not conveyed. The psalmist illustrates the universal nature of this communication, suggesting that the beauty and power of language transcend cultural boundaries. In various fields, language serves as a critical tool; whether it is the specialized terminology of technology or the vernacular of a specific community, mastering these languages enables individuals to address and resolve the challenges inherent in those domains. Language is not merely a means of communication; it is the bedrock of knowledge, particularly in our current information-driven era. The distinction between humans and other animals is significantly rooted in our capacity for language, which facilitates complex thought and interaction.

The manifestation of divine anointing is evidenced through the ability to solve problems, as it liberates individuals from the constraints of sin and negative habits. This transformative power not only frees one from personal struggles but also equips them to become agents of change within their communities. The anointing is not solely about personal salvation; it is a comprehensive empowerment that leads to fulfillment of one’s purpose and the attainment of prosperity. It is essential to recognize that while the anointing provides protection from illness, its ultimate goal is to foster productivity and problem-solving capabilities. God’s intention encompasses a holistic approach to life, where health and productivity work in tandem to enable individuals to contribute meaningfully to society.

To conclude this morning’s reflections, I would like to share a passage from Scripture that invites us to engage in prayer. In Exodus 35:30-35, we find Moses addressing the children of Israel, proclaiming, “The Lord has called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah. He has endowed him with the Spirit of God, granting him wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in all forms of craftsmanship. This divine inspiration enables him to create artistic works, including those in gold, silver, and bronze, as well as to cut jewels for settings, carve wood, and engage in various forms of artistic expression. Furthermore, God has instilled in him the ability to teach, alongside Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach from the tribe of Dan, who has also been filled with skills necessary for engraving, designing, and weaving with fine materials such as blue, purple, and scarlet threads.”

This passage highlights the profound influence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers, as evidenced by the specific mention of individuals and their God-given talents. Moses, inspired by the Holy Spirit, identifies these individuals by name, illustrating how God has uniquely equipped them with grace and divine abilities for their respective crafts. This serves as a reminder that

when the Holy Spirit interacts with a believer, it is not merely a passive experience; rather, it actively seeks to awaken and enhance the gifts and skills that lie within.

The narrative emphasizes the importance of recognizing and nurturing these divine endowments, as they are essential for fulfilling the purposes that God has set forth for each individual within the community.

It is my sincere hope that you grasp the essence of my message. The Holy Spirit is urging me to address a specific area within you that has been dormant, waiting for activation. It is crucial to recognize that there exists a profound potential within you that the Holy Spirit seeks to awaken. For some individuals present today, the Holy Spirit has already initiated this process, yet there remains more to be uncovered and released. The divine intention is to bring forth what has been held back, as the current circumstances you are navigating may be too constricted. It is imperative not to confine this potential, for doing so could lead to a life unfulfilled, devoid of the explosive growth and transformation that is rightfully yours.

Consider the analogy of a person who is expecting triplets but only delivers one child, celebrating a moment that should be filled with joy and fulfillment. This scenario is akin to a tragedy, as it reflects a failure to realize the full extent of what is possible. In the spiritual realm, this resonates with the experience of individuals who may feel satisfied with minimal achievements, yet are destined for so much more. The applause of others can sometimes stifle your drive to pursue greater aspirations. Therefore, I implore you to embrace the call to action: it is time to push forward and strive for the fullness of what you are capable of achieving. Let this be a moment of awakening, encouraging you to continue your journey with renewed vigor and determination.
