A COVENANT OF ABUNDANCE
Greetings to all those tuning in online, I extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you to this virtual service. I urge you to set aside any distractions and prepare yourself to receive the blessings that will come through the teaching and preaching of God’s Word today. Whether you are connecting through our various social media platforms, our online church platform, or Pop Centre TV, I encourage you to fully engage with the content being shared. I firmly believe that God has a message specifically for you, and your life will be transformed in a profound way. Let us all come together in unity and appreciation for everyone participating from different parts of the world.
Today marks the beginning of a new series of teachings that we have titled “The Abundance Blueprints.” I am honored to deliver the first message in this series, which I have named “A Covenant of Abundance.” At Elevation Church, we carefully select our teaching topics based on two primary factors. Firstly, we seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to lead us in the direction that aligns with God’s will. Secondly, we address relevant and pressing issues that our congregation faces. We strive to be a church that is responsive to the needs of our community, rather than turning a blind eye to challenges. Our goal is to provide practical and impactful teachings that resonate with our members.
As we move forward, it is essential to involve our congregation in shaping the future of our church. Next Sunday, we will be conducting a survey during the service to gather your input and insights for the upcoming year. Your feedback is invaluable to us, as it will guide us in focusing on areas that require more attention and support. Whether you choose to participate online or in person, your voice matters, and we want to ensure that your needs and preferences are taken into account as we plan for the future. I encourage each of you to make time to join us next Sunday and contribute to the collective vision of our church community.
The different kinds of covenant that God has with his people are clearly expressed in the book of Psalms. For example, Psalm 91 represents a covenant of divine protection, while Psalm 23 represents a covenant of abundance. The writers of these Psalms, after deeply meditating on the power of covenant, made declarations in the form of songs and hymns. These declarations, which we now call the Psalms, were born out of the abundance of the hearts of those who chose to fully meditate on their covenant with God, to the point that it became their own proclamation.
In Psalm 23, the writer, David, expressed his understanding and meditation on God as the great provider, putting it in the context of his own experience as a shepherd boy. He wrote, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He leads me beside the still waters; He restores my soul.” David, as a shepherd boy, had witnessed seasons where water was scarce and had to take his animals to different parts of the city. Through these experiences, he gained a revelation of God as the great Shepherd, always providing for his sheep in the right place and at the right time.
As we reflect on these Psalms, it is important to hold on to the covenant with God like never before. Just as David received a unique revelation from God, we too can experience a deep revelation of God’s covenant in our lives. This revelation will secure our understanding of the God we serve and provide assurance in the midst of the challenges we face. In the current time and season, it is crucial to hold on to our covenant with Jehovah and trust in the provision and protection that it offers.
Over the past week, there have been significant changes in various parts of the world, leading to price increases across different sectors. For instance, in Nigeria, the price of cooking gas surged by approximately 30% to 40%, impacting the cost of living for many individuals. This rise in prices has had a ripple effect on other commodities and services, making it challenging for households to manage their expenses effectively. Job losses have also been reported globally, affecting families where the primary breadwinner has been unemployed for an extended period, creating financial strain and uncertainty within the household.
In regions like North America and Europe, particularly the United Kingdom, the real estate market has experienced a sharp increase in property prices. This surge has made it difficult for young people who previously lived independently and could afford rent to now consider moving back in with their parents to save costs. In some areas of North America, property prices have skyrocketed by up to 50% or more, making it unaffordable for many individuals to rent or purchase homes. These economic shifts have forced people to reassess their living arrangements and financial priorities to adapt to the changing market conditions.
Amidst these global economic challenges and uncertainties, it is essential to find stability and reassurance in the concept of a covenant. Unlike casual agreements or contracts, a covenant represents a deeper level of commitment and relationship. Just as legal professionals understand the significance of covenants in contractual agreements, individuals should recognize the importance of honoring commitments and engaging in meaningful relationships. Whether in business dealings or personal interactions, the idea of a covenant emphasizes a higher level of dedication and responsibility, ensuring that all parties involved uphold their end of the agreement with integrity and respect.
The covenant that God operates at the highest level in heaven and on earth is known as the blood covenant. This covenant, caused by the sinless blood of the son of God, Jesus, is the highest level of covenant in existence. Jesus cut this covenant on behalf of humanity with God, making it a landmark event that changed the course of humanity’s relationship with God. This landmark occurrence took place when Christ hung on the cross of Calvary, shed his blood, was buried, and rose on the third day. This event brought humanity’s relationship with God to a whole new level and opened up new possibilities for all.
The blood covenant, although brought to fulfillment by Jesus, did not start with him. It originated with Abraham, and many of the world’s major religions are still based on the Abrahamic covenant. God’s promise of abundance began with Abraham and was activated through Christ for everyone. This covenant is accessible by faith to all, regardless of the circumstances in their world. By choosing to operate with God based on this covenant, individuals gain a unique understanding of their relationship with God, setting them apart in any situation in life.
In Genesis Chapter 17, God spoke to Abraham, changing his name from Abram to Abraham and making a covenant with him and his descendants for an everlasting covenant. This covenant established Abraham as the father of many nations and promised to make him exceedingly fruitful. The covenant was not only with Abraham but also with his descendants, ensuring that the promise of abundance and fruitfulness would extend to future generations. This covenant, originating with Abraham and fulfilled through Christ, is accessible to all who choose to operate with God based on faith.
The covenant between God and Abraham, as detailed in the book of Genesis, is a significant aspect of biblical history. God made a promise to Abraham that he would be a God to him and his descendants, establishing an everlasting covenant. This covenant included the land of Canaan as an everlasting possession for Abraham and his descendants. As the relationship between God and Abraham developed, it became evident that both parties were committed to upholding their end of the covenant.
Despite the fact that Abraham’s biological descendants were initially the primary beneficiaries of the covenant, the arrival of Christ changed the dynamics. Christ’s sacrifice opened the door for all individuals, regardless of their biological lineage, to partake in the Abrahamic covenant. This shift in perspective allowed individuals like the speaker, who is not Jewish by birth, to benefit from the covenant that God made with Abraham. Christ’s sacrifice served as a bridge that connected people from all backgrounds to the promises made to Abraham.
The typology of Christ as the ultimate sacrifice, akin to Isaac in Abraham’s story, highlights the depth of God’s commitment to humanity. Just as Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son, God also made the ultimate sacrifice by sending Jesus to die for the sins of humanity. This act extended the covenant beyond biological descendants of Abraham, making it accessible to all who choose to follow Christ. The covenant between God and Abraham serves as a foundation for understanding the inclusive nature of God’s love and grace towards all people.
Galatians chapter 3, specifically verses 13 and 14, is a well-known scripture that is familiar to many of us. In these verses, it is stated that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. This is in accordance with the writing that says, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.” The purpose of this redemption is so that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ. It is important to note that according to biblical balance, anyone who is not a biological Jew is considered a Gentile. Jesus came to open us up to this blessing, so that the promise of the spirit might be received through faith.
The significance of this redemption and the opening up of the blessing of Abraham to the Gentiles in Christ is further emphasized by the words of Jesus in John 10 verse 10. He states that while the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, he came so that we may have life and have it in abundance. This is the reason for his coming, and it is important for us to understand and internalize this truth. The current state of the world and the challenges that we face necessitate a deep understanding of the covenant that we have with God. This understanding is crucial in order for us not to be overwhelmed or derailed by the circumstances around us.
Living as a covenant person, or having a covenant-minded perspective, provides a firm foundation and a source of strength. Even in the face of overwhelming situations, a covenant-minded person can turn things around, much like David did when he encouraged himself in the Lord. Remembering the covenant allows one to break free from fear and anxiety, and to live a life that is not governed by mere human limitations. On the other hand, living without an awareness of the covenant means living as mere men and women, without the assurance and strength that comes from being in covenant with God. Therefore, it is essential for us to be mindful of the covenant and to live in the reality of its promises.
The covenant of abundance, also known as the promise of abundance, can be likened to a post-dated check that never expires. It is a guarantee of provision that is available for cashing at any time, in any location, and under any circumstances. This covenant speaks to the abundance that is promised for all stages of life, as seen in Exodus chapter 3, verse 17, where God promises to bring the Israelites out of Egypt to a land flowing with milk and honey, despite their current afflictions.
The story of the Israelites in captivity in Egypt serves as a powerful example of how the covenant of abundance works throughout different stages of life. Even when they had to journey through the wilderness, the divine provision promised by God was still in effect. This demonstrates that the covenant of abundance is not limited by external circumstances or challenges, but remains steadfast and reliable, providing for those who trust in it.
It is important to remember that the covenant of abundance is not bound by the seasons or stages of life that we may find ourselves in. Just as the Israelites were not stranded in the wilderness, even when nothing seemed to grow, God’s provision was still evident. This serves as a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, the covenant of abundance is a constant source of hope and assurance, ready to manifest in our lives when we least expect it. Trusting in this covenant can bring about miraculous breakthroughs, even in the midst of what may seem like a wilderness experience.
It is possible that someone is currently listening to you, whether physically present in the room or connected online. If you have been without a job for the past 18 months or even two years, it may seem like a challenging time. However, it is essential to remember that God’s covenant of divine provision is at work in your life. Even when it seems like opportunities are scarce, trust that God is still working on your behalf.
In Nehemiah Chapter 9, verse 20, Nehemiah recounts the experience of the Jews in the wilderness. He highlights how God provided for them, ensuring they lacked nothing. Their needs were met, and they were sustained throughout their journey. This serves as a reminder that God’s provision is not limited by circumstances or challenges. Even in the most difficult times, God’s faithfulness remains constant.
Regardless of your age or the stage of life you find yourself in, God’s abundance is available to you. Psalm 37, verse 25, emphasizes that the righteous are never forsaken, and their descendants do not beg for bread. This assurance extends to all ages, showing that God’s provision knows no limits. Whether you are young or old, facing a career change or a new venture, trust in God’s promise of abundance. Remember, God’s provision is not restricted by age or circumstances, and His blessings are available to all who believe.
It could be argued that I am too young to engage in certain activities, but the divine message is clear – age is not a barrier when God’s covenant is upon your life. Praise be to Jesus. Can you hear me? Just as we commonly say in this region, turn to your neighbor and affirm that you are not too young to pursue any calling that God has ordained for you. This phrase, “not too young to run,” gained popularity before the last election in Nigeria, as young individuals advocated for a reduction in age restrictions for political positions. However, this concept extends beyond politics; it encompasses any destiny office that God is preparing for you. Remember, you are not too young to run in the race that God has set before you.
Do not delay the manifestation of God’s blessings in your life by underestimating your readiness to pursue your calling. Whether you are young or old, the covenant of God applies to all ages, ensuring abundance and prosperity. The phrase “not too young to run” signifies that God’s promises are not limited by age; His covenant remains steadfast and unchanging. Life unfolds in seasons, but God’s faithfulness transcends all seasons. As stated in Psalm 89:34, God declares that His covenant will not be broken, nor will His promises be altered. Therefore, trust in God’s timing and embrace the abundance He has in store for you, regardless of the season you are in.
Embrace the truth that God’s covenant is not bound by time or seasons. His promises are eternal and unwavering, offering abundance and blessings in every phase of life. While seasons may change, God’s faithfulness remains constant. Therefore, do not limit yourself based on age or circumstances, for God’s covenant is all-encompassing and enduring. Trust in His promises, believe in His timing, and walk confidently in the assurance that you are not too young or too old to fulfill the destiny that God has ordained for you. Remember, abundance is available in all seasons, and God’s covenant is a guarantee of His provision and faithfulness throughout your journey.
It is uncertain which season you may currently find yourself in, whether it be a winter experience where everything appears frozen, especially in terms of your career. However, it is important to remember that regardless of the season you are going through, the covenant with the Lord remains steadfast. As stated in Jeremiah 17 verses 7 and 8, those who trust in the Lord and place their hope in Him are blessed. They are likened to a tree planted by the waters, with roots that spread out by the river. Even when faced with changing seasons, such as the heat or drought, they do not fear or become anxious, but continue to yield fruit.
The covenant of abundance, like all other covenants of God, is not limited by seasons. This principle is emphasized in Psalm 1, particularly verse 3, which describes a tree planted by the rivers of water that bears fruit in its season and prospers in all it does. This assurance of divine abundance is a source of encouragement and hope, reminding believers that God’s provision is not restricted by external circumstances or perceived limitations. Therefore, it is essential to trust in the Lord and remain rooted in His promises, regardless of the season one may be facing.
It is a common misconception to believe that abundance is only found in certain locations, often referred to as “Greener Pastures.” However, the truth is that the place where God has planted you is your green pasture. There is abundance available for all locations, and it is not limited to a specific geographical area. By recognizing that God’s provision is not confined to a particular place, individuals can shift their mindset and embrace the abundance that is accessible to them wherever they are planted. Trusting in the Lord’s faithfulness and embracing His promises will lead to a life marked by divine abundance in every season.
Straying from the place where you have been planted is a result of being influenced by a mindset that does not align with the covenant of abundance. The covenant, as described in Deuteronomy 28, verse 2, promises blessings that will come upon and overtake those who obey the voice of the Lord. This covenant ensures that abundance will be experienced in all locations, depending on where God has planted you. Whether in the city, the country, or the suburban areas, the covenant of abundance is designed to work in every location where God has placed you.
The emphasis on the covenant mindset is crucial, especially for young people. It is important to understand that what is written in the covenant is more powerful and enduring than the transient happenings in life. Living life based on revelation, rather than reaction, is the key to experiencing the fullness of the covenant of abundance. Reacting to the changing winds and waves of life can lead to uncertainty and instability, while living by revelation allows one to remain steadfast and unwavering in the face of life’s challenges.
The story of Elijah in 1st Kings 17 serves as a powerful example of living according to revelation. God instructed Elijah to go to the Brook at Cherith, assuring him that he would find sustenance there. This revelation guided Elijah to the place where God had planted him, and he was provided for by the ravens and the Brook. This illustrates the importance of trusting in the covenant and living according to the revelation of God’s promises, rather than being swayed by the happenings in one’s surroundings.
In the story of Elijah being commanded by God to go to Zarephath, we see a powerful lesson about obedience and trust in God’s provision. Despite the season of drought, God assured Elijah that a widow in Zarephath would provide for him. This serves as a reminder that God’s plans for us are not always dependent on external circumstances. Whether the season has changed or not, God’s guidance remains constant. It is crucial for us to be attentive to where God wants us to be, as that is where His abundance will manifest.
The message of abundance transcends geographical boundaries and is applicable to people all over the world. Whether in a city, a rural area, or any other location, God’s covenant of abundance is not limited by physical surroundings. It is important for young people, especially those in Nigeria, to be wary of the temptation to seek greener pastures elsewhere without considering God’s plan for them. The Japa syndrome, characterized by a desire to leave one’s current location in search of better opportunities, can lead individuals away from God’s divine purpose.
Understanding and embracing the covenant of divine provision and abundance that we have with God should have a profound impact on our lives. By meditating on this covenant and declaring God’s promises, we can shift our perspective from lack to abundance. This mindset shift enables us to confidently proclaim a “lifting up” even in the face of challenges. As we acknowledge and honor our relationship with God, His abundance will manifest in every aspect of our lives. Let us remain covenant conscious and trust in God’s plan for us, knowing that His abundance knows no bounds.
Allow me to conclude this within the next five minutes. Consider the impact that meditating on this scripture can have on your life and the lives of those around you. If you continue to view God as a provider of divine abundance, regardless of the circumstances in your nation or city, you will see a significant change. Despite the current challenges, this Christmas season will be the best one yet for you. When you assess your financial situation at the end of the year, you will witness a substantial increase. This year will yield a mega increase for you, in the name of Jesus. I recently delivered a sermon at Gateway Church in Port Harcourt during the past week. I conducted evening events for them on Monday and Tuesday. It was on Monday night that I spoke under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I shared a message that someone would be launched into a project that would completely take care of 2022 before the end of the month. A young man approached the pastor on Tuesday evening and shared a testimony. The pastor then introduced me to the young man, who was also a minister in the church. The young man explained that he had been working on a project since the beginning of the year. While he had been earning some income, there was a particular project that he had been struggling with. After attending the Monday night service, he received a call on Tuesday morning. They had a meeting and were able to finalize the project that same day. He mentioned that the first payment for this project was more than the total income he had earned in the last 10 months. This project is expected to continue until the end of 202
The young man’s testimony serves as a powerful example of the impact of faith and meditation on scripture. Despite the challenges he faced, his unwavering belief in God’s provision led to a remarkable breakthrough. This story is a testament to the power of faith and the divine abundance that God can provide. It serves as a reminder that regardless of the circumstances, maintaining a positive and faithful outlook can lead to incredible blessings. The young man’s experience is a powerful illustration of the potential for transformation and abundance that comes from trusting in God’s provision. It is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, maintaining a steadfast belief in God’s abundance can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
The young man’s experience is a testament to the transformative power of faith and the potential for divine provision. His story serves as a reminder that despite the challenges we may face, maintaining a positive and faithful outlook can lead
First and foremost, when you embrace the word of God, you are not simply putting your trust in a human being or a religious leader. Instead, you are tapping into a deep understanding of the covenant that God has established with his people. This covenant understanding has the power to expand your mind and open your eyes to the possibilities that exist within the framework of this covenant. It is through this understanding that the Holy Spirit is able to stretch the boundaries of the covenant on your behalf, allowing you to see the potential that lies within it.
It is important to note that your level of belief plays a significant role in how you perceive and experience the power of the covenant. At times, doubt may cause you to shrink back and limit the possibilities that the covenant offers. However, when you firmly grasp the latitude of the covenant and believe in its power, you are able to witness the tangible impact it has on your life. The covenant operates in the realm of intangibles, yet it has the ability to move and shape the tangible aspects of your life. When God speaks, the very forces that govern the universe rearrange themselves to align with his word, demonstrating the immense power that the covenant holds.
As you step into a deeper understanding of the covenant, you will begin to experience two profound effects. Firstly, hope will replace worry in your life. This shift in mindset is a direct result of embracing the abundance that the covenant offers. When you are conscious of the covenant and live it out in your daily life, you will find that hope naturally takes the place of worry. This transformation is a testament to the powerful impact that the covenant can have on your life and mindset.
In Matthew 6, Jesus spoke about not worrying in his own words, emphasizing the importance of having a covenant with God. He highlighted that being covenant-minded does not equate to being irresponsible, but rather it is a mindset that focuses on the promises and provisions of God. Jesus pointed out that worrying does not bring about any positive change; instead, it is having a covenant orientation that can redirect one’s destiny. By urging his followers not to worry about their basic needs such as food, drink, and clothing, Jesus emphasized that life is more than just material possessions.
Jesus used the example of birds in the air to illustrate his point further. He noted that birds do not engage in activities like sowing, reaping, or gathering into barns, yet God provides for them. This serves as a reminder that God watches over all of His creation, including humans, whose actions have eternal consequences. Jesus highlighted the importance of having faith in God’s provision, rather than succumbing to worry and anxiety. He addressed the issue of faith, pointing out that worrying can hinder the operation of the spirit of faith in one’s life.
Understanding the covenant of abundance, as outlined in the Bible, can help replace worry with hope. The concept of hope, which does not disappoint according to the Scriptures, is closely tied to faith. Without hope, faith cannot thrive, as hope serves as the foundation for faith. Jesus’ words in Matthew 6 underscore the significance of trusting in God’s provision and promises, rather than allowing worry and anxiety to overshadow one’s faith. By choosing to focus on hope and faith, individuals can experience the abundant blessings that come from having a covenant relationship with God.
Faith is intricately connected to hope, as hope serves as the foundation upon which faith is built. Without hope, it is impossible to have faith. The understanding of the covenant of abundance plays a crucial role in this relationship between hope and faith. It has the power to replace worry with hope, as highlighted in Philippians 4:6, which instructs believers to “Be anxious for nothing.” This message is universal, applicable to individuals in any city or country, urging them to let go of worry and embrace hope instead.
The covenant of abundance also has a transformative effect on believers, leading to the replacement of greed with contentment. Understanding that God has made a covenant to provide for His people should eliminate the desire for excessive wealth and possessions. Greed, with all its negative consequences, such as dishonesty and sharp practices, should be replaced by contentment. Believers should not resort to cheating or unethical behavior in pursuit of material gain, as this goes against the principles of the covenant of abundance.
It is essential for believers to uphold integrity and honesty in all aspects of their lives, including financial matters. The covenant of abundance should instill a sense of trust in God’s provision, eliminating the need for deceitful practices. Greed should be replaced by contentment, and believers should strive to be morally upright in their dealings. The covenant of abundance is a promise of God’s provision, and faith in this covenant should lead to a life of honesty, integrity, and contentment, free from the pitfalls of greed and dishonesty.
It is imperative that we show reverence for the covenant, whether it is the covenant with God, our spouses, our employers, or any other covenant that we may have. It is crucial to acknowledge and honor these covenants in our lives. It is important to note that some covenants may not yield the desired results for certain individuals, and it may seem as though God is not faithful. This could be attributed to the fact that one is not upholding their end of the covenant, essentially breaking it. It is essential to be mindful of this and to strive to honor the covenants we have made.
When we honor the covenant, we are likely to witness the manifestation of God’s faithfulness in our lives. This can have a transformative effect, diminishing our inclination towards greed. The Bible emphasizes the significance of godliness with contentment, highlighting that it is a valuable asset. It is crucial to recognize that we entered this world with nothing and will leave with nothing. Therefore, finding contentment in having food and clothing is of great importance. This is a powerful reminder to be content with what we have, as it is a key aspect of honoring the covenant.
Hebrews 13:5 serves as a potent reminder to avoid covetousness and to find contentment in what we possess. It reinforces the assurance that God, the keeper of the covenant, will never abandon us. This is a source of great comfort and strength. As we reflect on these teachings, it is essential to internalize the message and personalize it. This will enable us to strengthen our faith and trust in God’s ability to provide us with an abundance of grace and sufficiency in all things. This is a powerful affirmation of our belief and trust in God’s faithfulness.
