DISPELLING EVIL CLOUDS

The concept of “Dispelling Evil Clouds” is a metaphor for the idea that things do not happen by chance. This is illustrated through the process of rain formation, which involves a series of steps such as collection, evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. This process demonstrates that rain does not occur randomly, but rather as a result of a specific sequence of events. This metaphor is used to emphasize that many things in life do not happen by chance, but rather through deliberate and concerted effort. It serves as a reminder that there is often a process that must be followed in order to achieve certain outcomes.

The metaphor of rain and clouds is also used to convey the idea that just because we may not understand why or how something happens, it does not mean that there is no explanation. The example of the scientist wondering about why the apple fell and hitting his head is used to illustrate this point. The discovery of the force of gravity through research and observation serves as a reminder that there are often unseen forces at work, even if we do not immediately perceive them. This metaphor encourages individuals to look beyond the surface and consider the underlying processes and forces that may be at play in various situations.

The metaphor of rain and clouds is further reinforced through the reference to Ecclesiastes 11 verse 3, which states that “If the clouds are full of rain they empty themselves upon the earth.” This serves as a reminder that when something occurs, it is often the result of a preceding condition or event. The example of the falling tree is used to illustrate the idea that events are often the result of specific causes and forces. Overall, the metaphor of “Dispelling Evil Clouds” is used to convey the message that many things in life are not random, but rather the result of specific processes, forces, and conditions. It encourages individuals to consider the underlying causes and forces at work in various situations, rather than attributing events to chance or randomness.

There exists a fundamental force that governs the behavior of objects in our environment, particularly the phenomenon of gravity, which dictates that any object that is released will inevitably fall to the ground. To counteract this gravitational pull, a different force must be applied to elevate an object. The identification and understanding of this opposing force have been pivotal in enabling humanity to achieve flight. For an aircraft to ascend into the sky, it must generate forces such as lift, thrust, and upthrust, which collectively counteract the force of gravity, allowing the plane to soar above it. This does not imply that gravity is absent; rather, it highlights the presence of a more powerful force that enables flight, demonstrating the intricate balance of physical laws at play.

As we embark on this new year, it is essential to recognize that you too can rise above the challenges that may have previously hindered your progress. This season presents an opportunity for divine wisdom to illuminate your path, equipping you with the insight necessary to navigate and overcome obstacles that have impeded your upliftment. By cultivating a mindset that embraces superior ideologies and a deeper understanding of the circumstances surrounding you, you can effectively diminish the limitations that have held you back. This transformative approach will empower you to accelerate your journey toward fulfilling your destiny, as you align yourself with the greater forces at work in your life.

In the course of our lives, we often encounter situations that defy explanation, leading us to label them as negative or malevolent influences. These inexplicable occurrences may manifest as obstacles that obstruct our progress, leaving us perplexed and searching for answers. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that the presence of such challenges does not negate the possibility of understanding their origins. By becoming more aware of the metaphorical clouds that may gather around us, we can take proactive measures to either allow or dispel their influence. This heightened awareness will enable us to navigate our circumstances with greater clarity and intention, ultimately fostering a more empowered approach to the complexities of life.

One of the most challenging experiences in life is being caught off guard by unexpected events, such as a sudden downpour on a day when you least expect it. This can leave you feeling bewildered and unprepared, especially if no one has given you a heads-up about the possibility of rain, and it’s not even the typical season for it. As we approach the year 2023, the goal is to equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools to avoid being caught off guard in the future. The message this morning aims to address this issue and provide guidance on how to minimize the shock of unexpected events.

To better understand how to navigate through unexpected situations, it’s important to categorize them into four classes. The first class involves self-inflicted activities that lead to the gathering of “evil clouds,” as described in Proverbs chapter 6 verse 27. This scripture emphasizes the consequences of certain actions that cannot be initiated without feeling their effects. For instance, it poses the question, “Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes will not be burnt?” The answer is clear – in natural occurrences, carrying fire to one’s bosom will result in burnt clothes. Similarly, walking on hot coals will sear one’s feet. This analogy highlights the inevitability of experiencing the repercussions of self-sabotaging behaviors, poor decision-making, and lack of wisdom.

Living a life characterized by self-sabotage can hinder the grace and help of God

leading to a cycle of foolishness and adverse consequences. It’s crucial to recognize that certain actions will inevitably lead to negative outcomes, and denying this reality only perpetuates the problem. By acknowledging the impact of self-inflicted activities and taking steps to break free from cycles of foolishness, individuals can begin to make wiser decisions and avoid the shock of unexpected events. This message serves as a reminder to embrace wisdom and foresight in order to navigate through life’s challenges with greater resilience and preparedness.

Allow me to elaborate on my previous statement regarding the concept of wisdom as described in the Bible. The scripture mentions that the path of the just is akin to a shining light, which grows brighter and brighter until it reaches perfection. This signifies the continuous growth and development of wisdom. As we approach the year 2023, it is imperative that our wisdom level does not remain stagnant. The Bible encourages us to seek wisdom from God, who generously bestows it upon those who ask. Therefore, it is essential to be conscious of the need to intentionally increase in wisdom, particularly in areas where we may have demonstrated foolishness in the past.

The Bible also emphasizes the importance of wisdom in making sound decisions. It states that wisdom is justified by our actions, just as foolishness is. This underscores the significance of seeking wisdom from God in order to make better choices and avoid self-sabotaging behaviors. In Hosea chapter 4 verse 6, it is highlighted that lack of knowledge can lead to destruction. The rejection of knowledge and the forgetting of God’s law can have detrimental consequences. Therefore, it is crucial to actively pursue wisdom and knowledge, as neglecting them can result in adverse outcomes.

In conclusion, it is evident that wisdom plays a pivotal role in our lives, as emphasized in the Bible. It is a quality that should be continuously cultivated and sought after. By acknowledging the need for wisdom and actively pursuing it, we can make better decisions and avoid the negative consequences of ignorance and foolishness. Let us therefore pray for God to multiply wisdom in our lives, enabling us to navigate the challenges and choices that lie ahead in the coming year.

The passage from James chapter 1, verse 5, emphasizes the importance of seeking wisdom from God, who generously provides it without reproach. This verse serves as a reminder that individuals often overlook the underlying causes of their circumstances, particularly in the context of romantic relationships. It is not uncommon for someone to question why their relationships consistently fail, especially if they have experienced multiple breakups within a short span of time. Instead of attributing these failures to an “evil cloud,” it is crucial to engage in self-reflection and inquiry to understand the patterns that may be contributing to these outcomes.

When faced with recurring negative patterns in one’s life, it is essential to approach the situation with a mindset that seeks understanding rather than merely praying against the issues at hand. One should pray for wisdom to discern the reasons behind these patterns, as this insight can lead to meaningful change. Acknowledging the role of divine mercy is vital, as it can counteract any malevolent plans that may be at play. However, God desires for individuals to confront their realities rather than remain in denial, allowing them to actively participate in the transformative work He is doing in their lives.

As we transition to the next point, it is important to engage in a moment of confession and reflection. I encourage you to turn to your neighbor and express the need for this confession. Together, let us acknowledge and repent for any wrongdoings that may have allowed negative influences to take root in our lives. By turning to Jesus, we can receive the mercy and grace necessary to overcome these challenges. We declare that the blood of Jesus speaks on our behalf, offering redemption and protection from condemnation. As we grow in wisdom, we commit to breaking free from cycles of foolishness, embracing the promise of living under open heavens throughout the year 2023.

Allow me to express a crucial point at the outset: with the limited time remaining, I will guide you through some essential confessions. It is important to recognize that a silent mouth leads to a stagnant destiny. You did not come to this gathering merely to observe the proceedings; rather, when I announce the opportunity for confession, it is imperative that you, as a true believer in Christ Jesus, understand the significance of your spoken words. The Bible teaches that through the words we utter, we can either find justification or condemnation. Therefore, it is essential to articulate the right affirmations and cultivate a habit of speaking positively about oneself. This year, one of the transformative practices you should adopt is to consistently declare affirmations that align with biblical truths over your life. The scriptures represent God’s declarations concerning you, and when your words resonate with His, no adversary can obstruct your path. Let us engage in this practice together in our worship, remaining attentive and sincere in our expressions of faith.

Furthermore, it is important to acknowledge that sometimes negative circumstances arise due to the actions of others. We have previously discussed the impact of our own mistakes, ignorance, and foolishness, but we must also consider the influence of external factors—specifically, the behavior of those around us. The reality is that we cannot control the actions of others unless we resort to manipulative practices, which are not in alignment with our values. While we may possess a degree of influence over our surroundings, true control over others is often unattainable. In a fast-paced environment, it becomes even more challenging to dictate who enters our lives or the dynamics of our professional relationships. For instance, you may find yourself compelled to collaborate with individuals from different organizations, each with their own hiring practices and workplace cultures.

When you reach out to a company and encounter an unkind or unreasonable individual on the other end of the line, it can be a daunting experience. The unpredictability of human behavior means that you may have to navigate difficult interactions without any prior warning. This reality underscores the importance of maintaining a strong foundation in your faith and affirmations, as they can provide you with the resilience needed to face such challenges. It is essential to remain grounded in your beliefs and to respond with grace, even when confronted with adversity. By doing so, you not only protect your own spirit but also exemplify the teachings of Christ in your interactions with others.

It is crucial for us to acknowledge the fact that we reside in an imperfect world, populated by imperfect individuals who are incapable of achieving perfection. While some of us may be idealists who yearn for perfect circumstances, it is unrealistic to expect flawlessness from flawed individuals. The reality is that perfection is unattainable in our world because the individuals responsible for making things happen are inherently imperfect. Despite this, God has the ability to utilize both perfection and imperfection for His divine purpose, remaining sovereign over all situations.

The frustration of constantly expecting perfection from our imperfect world is a common experience shared by many. The Apostle Paul, in his writings to the Thessalonian Church, emphasized the importance of praying for deliverance from unreasonable and wicked individuals. Paul’s identification of these two types of people serves as a reminder that interactions with such individuals can either cast a shadow of negativity over our lives or dispel it. Unreasonable individuals often impose unrealistic demands without considering our limitations, while wicked individuals seek to inflict emotional harm.

Dealing with unreasonable and wicked individuals requires wisdom and discernment, as they can negatively impact our lives if not handled properly. While it may be challenging to completely avoid such individuals in the world, seeking God’s wisdom can help minimize our exposure to their harmful influence. Unreasonable individuals may push boundaries without regard for our well-being, while wicked individuals actively seek to cause emotional distress. By recognizing and understanding the nature of these individuals, we can navigate our interactions with them more effectively and protect ourselves from their detrimental effects.

It is a distinct situation when one person shows a lack of concern, while another individual comes in with force to cause emotional pain. It is important to recognize the differences in behavior and attitudes. Paul, in his message, urges us to pray for protection from exposure to unreasonable and wicked people. Many married individuals are quick to label their partners, especially during conflicts. It is crucial to understand that loving people are not inherently wicked, but they may display unreasonable behavior at times. When a spouse makes excessive demands, it is not necessarily due to wickedness, but rather a lack of reason. There are specific approaches to addressing such behavior, as discussed in “The Better Half Series.”

It is essential to understand that allowing insensitivity and unreasonable behavior to affect one’s emotional well-being can lead to negative consequences. The story of Joseph in the Old Testament serves as an example of managing unreasonable and wicked behavior. Joseph’s brothers envied him and displayed both unreasonable and wicked tendencies. Some wanted to kill him, while others suggested selling him into slavery. Joseph’s ability to navigate through these challenges is a testament to the importance of recognizing and addressing unreasonable and wicked behavior.

In conclusion, it is crucial to differentiate between unreasonable and wicked behavior in relationships. Understanding the underlying motivations behind certain actions can help in addressing conflicts and maintaining emotional well-being. By recognizing the differences and approaching the situation with sensitivity and reason, individuals can navigate through challenges and prevent the seeding of negative influences. The story of Joseph serves as a powerful example of managing unreasonable and wicked behavior, highlighting the importance of addressing such tendencies in relationships.

According to Romans 8 verse 28, it is believed that everything works together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. This verse suggests that God uses all circumstances to lead individuals to the fulfillment of their destiny. In the case of Joseph, for example, it is believed that God used every situation to ultimately bring him to Egypt, where he would become a prime minister. This verse is often used to encourage and reassure individuals that God is in control and is working everything out for their benefit.

In light of this, it is important to pray for protection against the attempts of wicked or unreasonable people to derail one’s path to destiny. It is believed that God can use these attempts to ultimately position individuals in the center of their destiny. However, it is also important to seek wisdom in managing these situations and minimizing exposure to prevent them from becoming overwhelming. This suggests that while God may use these situations for good, individuals still have a role to play in navigating and responding to them.

The scriptures also provide examples of individuals, such as the Apostle Paul, who encountered wicked people in their lives. In 2nd Timothy chapter 4 verse 14-15, Paul describes a particular man, Alexander the coppersmith, who did him much harm. This example serves as a reminder that even faithful individuals may encounter wicked people who cause them harm. In these situations, the response is to forgive and trust God for healing, so that the actions of others do not lead to negative consequences in one’s own life. This highlights the importance of maintaining faith and forgiveness in the face of adversity.

It is my desire for you to repeat after me, stating, “I affirm that God is my shield and my defense. I proclaim that I am free from the wickedness of individuals and the evil intentions of others. I declare that I possess healing in my soul, healing in my body, healing in my family, and healing in my surroundings. I express forgiveness towards men, women, leaders, and friends who have caused me pain. I assert that I do not spread suffering, but rather I bring healing and restoration through my words and my heart. I am rejuvenated by the love of God and I am enveloped in the peace of God. Let us declare that in the year 2023, I am dwelling under open heavens in the name of Jesus. Let us all say a resounding amen to that.”

The prevalence of evil in our world is due to individuals lacking the appropriate response to malevolence.

When people experience harm, they often inflict harm on others, perpetuating a cycle of negativity. The correct response to evil is forgiveness and setting boundaries. In Nigeria, where security measures may be lacking, people build fences around their homes to protect themselves. This act symbolizes forgiveness and establishing boundaries to prevent unfettered access to evil and unreasonable individuals. By implementing these measures, one can avoid unnecessary agony and maintain control over their surroundings. May God grant you the wisdom to shield yourself from evil and unreasonable people in the name of Jesus.

At times, God permits us to endure challenges for the sake of personal growth and character development. It is crucial not to misinterpret these trials as malevolent forces at work. Instead, these experiences are essential for our spiritual and personal advancement. Enduring hardships with patience and perseverance is vital for our growth and maturity in faith. Through these trials, we can emerge stronger and more resilient, in alignment with God’s timing. Therefore, it is important to recognize the purpose behind these challenges and respond appropriately, embracing them as opportunities for growth and character refinement.

The concept of divine mercy is intricately linked to the submission to God’s will, a theme that the Apostle Paul articulates with great empathy in his epistle to the Hebrews. In Hebrews 12:5, he reminds believers of the exhortation that addresses them as sons, stating, “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the Lord loves, He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.” This passage underscores the notion that divine discipline is a manifestation of love, suggesting that challenges and rebukes are not merely punitive but rather formative experiences intended to guide individuals toward spiritual maturity.

To illustrate this point, one might consider the analogy of an orange. The juice contained within an orange cannot be extracted without applying some pressure; similarly, individuals often find that their true potential is revealed only through the trials and tribulations they face. An orange that remains untouched and unpressed serves no purpose beyond mere decoration, much like a person who avoids the challenges of life may never realize their full capabilities. The pressures that arise in life can feel overwhelming, yet they are often necessary for growth and transformation. The Apostle Paul further emphasizes this in Romans 5:3-4, where he states that believers should rejoice in tribulations, as these experiences cultivate perseverance, a vital quality for spiritual development.

The narrative of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane serves as a poignant reminder of the human experience of suffering and the appropriate response to it. In that moment of profound anguish, Jesus did not rebuke the adversary; rather, He sought grace and strength from His Father. This illustrates that during times of intense pressure and difficulty, the focus should not be on casting out perceived evil but rather on seeking divine assistance to endure and navigate through the trials. The path to fulfilling one’s divine calling often requires enduring hardship, much like the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, which was essential for the redemption of humanity. Thus, embracing the challenges of life with faith and resilience is crucial for spiritual growth and fulfillment of one’s purpose.

I wish to share a single point with you. Instead of rebuking the devil, he chose to pray for grace and strength. My prayer is that the grace of the Father will envelop anyone currently facing necessary pressure, whether they are physically present in this room or joining us online. This pressure, essential for character development, is meant to mold a disciple through the challenges they face. Today, I pray that the grace of God will saturate your life and that the wisdom of God will guide you in responding appropriately to the pressure you are experiencing. Let us all say a resounding amen and give glory to Jesus.

Let us make a declaration together as I share my final point. Repeat after me: “I declare that I am being built up by God into a spiritual powerhouse. I understand that all things work together for my good because I love God and am called according to His purpose. I steadfastly hold onto my confession and place deep trust in God. I find joy in facing challenges, knowing that they develop patience and the fruit of the spirit within me. I am receptive to correction from God and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to comprehend the events in my life. I wholeheartedly submit to God, confident that He will lead me victoriously through all seasons of my life.”

Lastly, it is crucial to acknowledge that spiritual wickedness and demonic activities can result in the gathering of evil clouds. Each one of us must learn to exercise our authority in Christ Jesus to combat every spiritual attack and form of wickedness. Denying the existence of such forces is simply self-deception. Let us be vigilant and proactive in speaking out against spiritual attacks, knowing that we have the power and authority in Christ to overcome them. In the year 2023, may we all live under open heavens every day in the name of Jesus.

The scripture teaches that our struggles are not merely against physical adversaries but rather against spiritual forces and authorities. Believers in Christ are encouraged to confront evil with confidence, rather than fear. It is often the less mature Christians who become overly anxious about minor disturbances, such as the presence of cockroaches in their homes. Instead of relying solely on spiritual declarations, they should take practical steps to address the issue, such as cleaning their living spaces and using appropriate pest control measures. It is essential to recognize that the power of Jesus’ sacrifice should not be trivialized by applying it to mundane problems that can be resolved through practical means.

There is a tendency among some individuals to misuse spiritual authority, often resorting to declarations without fully understanding their implications. While it is important to wield spiritual authority effectively, not every situation requires a spiritual confrontation. Certain challenges can be addressed directly and practically, allowing believers to focus their spiritual efforts on more significant matters. In times of spiritual warfare, it is crucial to don the full armor of God and to declare His word boldly against the forces of darkness. This approach empowers believers to confront spiritual wickedness and to resist the influence of malevolent individuals who may seek to disrupt their peace.

It is vital to maintain a balance between love for others and the assertion of one’s spiritual authority. While we may encounter individuals with harmful intentions, it is essential to approach them with compassion, recognizing their humanity. However, this does not mean allowing their negativity to infiltrate our lives. Believers are called to stand firm in their spiritual authority, ensuring that the operations of evil do not encroach upon their personal domains. By doing so, they can create an environment that fosters peace and righteousness, while still extending love and understanding to those who may be struggling with their own wickedness.
