DON’T MISS YOUR BATON
I am confident that I will deliver my speech tonight as I believe that God will guide me. I am certain that there are individuals present who are eagerly anticipating a message from the Lord. I am convinced that tonight, God will speak to you through a multitude of words, illuminating your heart and dispelling confusion, providing divine direction in the name of the Lord Jesus. I firmly believe that a word will be delivered to someone tonight that will set them on the right path. This year, you will not be beneath, but above, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
I would like to share a brief exhortation before we proceed with our prayers. The title of my exhortation is “Don’t Miss Your Baton.” In relay races, the baton is a critical object that is exchanged from one runner to the next. It is essential for the race, as you cannot run without holding one. When you are running, everyone is looking at your hand to ensure that you are not running in vain, but that you are holding the baton. This is what you pass to the next person. The world we live in is orchestrated by God in a generational, cyclical, and seasonal manner.
God empowers, chooses, and causes people to emerge from one season to the next, from one generation to the next. It is important to recognize that the way God operates is through generational, cyclical, and seasonal patterns. He empowers individuals and causes them to emerge at the appointed time. Just as in a relay race, where the baton is passed from one runner to the next, God orchestrates the passing of the baton from one generation to the next. It is essential not to miss your baton, as it signifies the transition from one season to the next, from one generation to the next.
Life is filled with cycles and seasons, where individuals may find themselves in a period of obscurity. During this time, it may feel as though no one truly understands the effort being put into various aspects of life, whether it be personal growth, business endeavors, or other initiatives. The sleepless nights and hard work often go unnoticed by those around, leading to a sense of invisibility and underappreciation. Despite the lack of recognition, the perseverance and dedication to one’s goals continue to drive progress.
The journey towards success is often a gradual process, with many unseen sacrifices made along the way. It may seem like an overnight transformation when one finally achieves their goals, but in reality, it is the culmination of consistent effort and determination over time. The passage from Ezekiel chapter 21 emphasizes the concept of divine timing, where God orchestrates the rise and fall of individuals according to His will. The message of exalting the humble and humbling the exalted serves as a reminder that all achievements are ultimately guided by a higher power.
The cyclical nature of life and the inevitability of change are highlighted through the analogy of kingship. Just as no king reigns forever, individuals experience shifts in their circumstances and opportunities as seasons come and go. The prophecy of overturning and giving way to a new ruler signifies the continuous cycle of beginnings and endings in life. Therefore, it is essential to embrace the changing seasons with faith and perseverance, trusting that each phase serves a purpose in the greater plan. As the message concludes with a declaration of newfound opportunity and blessings, it instills hope and encouragement for those entering a new season of growth and prosperity.
Oftentimes, the concept of time and success is misunderstood. It is not always about the duration one spends working towards a goal, but rather about divine timing.
Some individuals may think that by putting in a certain number of years of effort, they will automatically achieve success. However, the reality is that success is not solely dependent on the time invested. It is about divine favor and timing. When God chooses to bless someone, doors of opportunity open, and they are able to operate at a higher level within their industry.
The scripture emphasizes the importance of believing in the word of God and trusting in His sovereignty. Doubting God’s ability to deliver on His promises is considered foolishness. When one truly believes in the Lord’s word, they witness His hand at work in their lives. As believers, it is crucial to maintain faith and not allow doubts or fears to hinder our belief. By continuously feeding our faith and starving our doubts, we strengthen our capacity to believe in God’s plan for us.
As believers in Christ, our primary duty is to remain steadfast in our faith. Surrounding ourselves with doubt and negativity can diminish our ability to believe in God’s promises. It is essential to guard our faith and not allow external influences to weaken our belief. By positioning ourselves as true believers and staying away from doubt, we can nurture our faith and witness the rewards of unwavering belief in God’s plan for our lives.
This current period presents an opportunity for you to make a significant change in your life by relocating and shifting your position. It is crucial not to remain in a situation that is draining your ability to have faith in God. Avoid reading materials that will weaken your belief and strengthen your doubts. Similarly, refrain from listening to things that will only increase your doubts and diminish your faith. Instead, concentrate on focusing your attention on things that will nurture your faith and diminish your doubts.
It is essential to be deliberate and purposeful during this season. When God indicates that it is a time to emerge, it signifies a period of advancement and progress. This is a time when there will be a shift in leadership, a passing of the baton, and a change in circumstances. It is a season where individuals can move from obscurity, a lowly existence, or a lack of influence to a place of prominence and significance. The Bible emphasizes how God elevates the humble and positions them among the elite. Therefore, it is crucial to envision this season of emergence and reflect on where you currently are and what may be holding you back from progressing.
Reflecting on the scriptures, one can observe how some individuals miss out on opportunities while others seize them with precision. Divine positioning and favorable circumstances are sometimes presented to individuals, yet some fail to capitalize on them. It is crucial to be vigilant and prepared to seize the opportunities that come your way. This year, make it your goal to be in the right place at the right time to grasp the blessings and opportunities that God has in store for you. Remember, when God is ready to bless someone, it is up to you to be attentive and not miss out on the blessings that are meant for you.
Certain events occur through divine providence, and recognizing that God has fulfilled His role prompts us to consider our responsibilities. It is essential for us to engage actively in our own roles to seize the opportunities presented to us. This evening, I will elucidate this concept by referencing several passages from scripture, aiming to inspire a deeper understanding among us. It is crucial that we grasp the significance of our actions in response to divine guidance, as we prepare to pray and partake in communion together.
In 1st Samuel chapter 3, the narrative begins with a description of a time when prophetic visions were rare, and the word of God was not widely disseminated. This period marked a significant transition, characterized by uncertainty and a sense of crisis among the people. A similar atmosphere of turmoil is evident in 1st Samuel chapter 17, where the Israelite army, led by Saul, faced the daunting challenge posed by Goliath. In both instances, the people were in search of direction and wisdom, indicative of a transitional phase that often accompanies significant changes in leadership or societal structure.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated various transitions across multiple sectors and nations, serving as a catalyst for change. Such occurrences are often divine signals indicating that a transformation is imminent. Since 2020, we have observed numerous individuals rising to prominence, and I firmly believe that before the conclusion of this year, many more will emerge from our community. I encourage those present here and those joining us online to recognize this moment as an opportunity for elevation and growth, as God is actively preparing to raise leaders and influencers among us in the name of Jesus.
In the book of 1st Samuel chapter 3, a crisis was unfolding in Israel. The people were unsure of what to do as Eli, the priest who was supposed to provide guidance and direction, was facing his own challenges. His eyes were growing dim, symbolizing his inability to see clearly and fulfill his duties. Additionally, his children were misbehaving, further complicating the situation. This lack of leadership and guidance from Eli left the people feeling lost and uncertain about the future.
As described in verse 2 of the Bible, Eli was lying down in his place when his eyes began to grow dim to the point where he could not see. This physical ailment mirrored the spiritual blindness that had befallen him, rendering him unable to fulfill his role as a judge and leader. The symbolic significance of Eli’s failing eyesight highlighted the dire situation in Israel, where the one entrusted with providing direction was himself lost and unable to see the path forward clearly.
The story of Samuel and David in the Bible serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of being in the right place at the right time. In 1st Samuel chapter 17, we see how David, the youngest son of Jesse, was not initially chosen to fight Goliath. Instead, his three older brothers went to battle with Saul while David tended to his father’s sheep. However, it was David who ultimately stepped up to face Goliath, showcasing courage and faith in God. This unconventional battle highlighted the importance of being prepared and willing to seize opportunities when they arise, even if it means stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
Goliath made a daily appearance, challenging the Israelites with his words and actions. He openly defied them, cursing their God and taunting them to send a worthy opponent to face him in the valley. This battle was not like the typical warfare; it was a one-on-one confrontation. The Israelites were called upon to select their champion, as the Philistines had their formidable warrior, Goliath of Gath. For 40 days, Goliath approached the Israelites, issuing his challenge and striking fear into their hearts. The situation was akin to a daily devotional, with Goliath’s menacing presence becoming a regular occurrence, morning and evening.
Amidst the ongoing confrontation, Jesse instructed his son David to bring provisions to his brothers who were in the camp. He was tasked with delivering dried grain, loaves of bread, and cheeses to his brothers and the captain of their thousand. This seemingly mundane task was a part of the larger narrative, highlighting the tension and anticipation surrounding the impending battle. The atmosphere was charged with uncertainty and the need for information, as David was asked to report back on the well-being of his brothers and the overall situation in the camp.
The events described in this passage from 1st Samuel Chapter 3 are emblematic of a period of transition and change. Just as Samuel was presented by his mother, Hannah, and placed in the temple, there was a sense of shifting authority and responsibility. Eli, the incumbent leader, was experiencing a decline in his physical abilities, and his sons were engaging in misconduct. This created a precarious situation, as it is perilous to be in a position of authority during a time of impending change. The text serves as a cautionary tale, underscoring the importance of being appropriately positioned during times of transition and upheaval.
The individuals who were meant to take over from Eli were preoccupied with misbehaving, while Samuel was present. His mother had presented him to the Lord to remain in the temple, and God had given him to her. She had also promised God that she would present the boy back to Him. At that time, the boy was sleeping when God approached him, calling out his name, “Samuel! Samuel!” The boy ran to Eli, and this happened three times. Eli, who was already losing his prophetic edge and cognitive ability, did not understand what was happening, as he was in his prime. He should have instructed the boy to respond to God the next time he heard his name, but instead, he was confused.
Eli’s failure to recognize the divine calling on Samuel’s life was a result of his emotional disposition and inability to understand the simple instructions given by God. This is a reminder that emotional baggage and lack of divine positioning can hinder one’s ability to hear and respond to God’s voice. As we enter into a new year, it is important to strip ourselves of any emotional baggage from the previous year through fasting and dedicating our time to the Lord. By doing so, we can position ourselves to hear and respond to God’s instructions, just as Samuel did when he began his prophetic ministry.
The story of Samuel and Eli serves as a lesson for us to be attentive to God’s voice and to position ourselves for divine instructions. Just as David was sent on errands by his father, we too must be present and obedient to God’s leading in the year ahead. By trusting in God to order our steps, we can be assured that we will not be displaced, and that we will begin our own prophetic ministry, just as Samuel did. As we partake in communion and pray, we can ask God to help us strip away any emotional baggage and prepare ourselves to hear and respond to His voice in the coming year.
One of the primary reasons individuals fail to seize the opportunities presented by God when He is orchestrating a change in their lives is due to displacement.
This displacement can manifest in various forms – emotional, mental, or physical. Emotional displacement occurs when one is unable to control negative emotions, while mental displacement arises from entertaining detrimental thoughts. Physical displacement, on the other hand, involves being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the case of David, his displacement was physical; he needed to be in the right place to confront Goliath.
David’s encounter with Goliath was not just a physical battle but a pivotal moment that would announce his emergence. Despite being anointed by Samuel in chapter 16, David’s true calling and destiny were revealed when he faced Goliath. This highlights the importance of being in the right place at the right time to fulfill one’s purpose. The story of David and Goliath serves as a powerful reminder that until we confront our giants, our emergence and fulfillment will remain incomplete.
Throughout history, we witness transitions of power and prominence, from Eli to Samuel, from Saul to David, and various other shifts. These transitions signify the changing of seasons and the passing of authority from one individual to another. While some transitions are smooth and beneficial, others are marred by corruption and malpractices. As we reflect on these transitions, it becomes evident that being in the right place at the right time is crucial for seizing opportunities and fulfilling one’s destiny. Let us pray for discernment and guidance to navigate these transitions in our own lives and in the broader context of society.
I am of the opinion that in order for a generation to experience true freedom, there must be a certain level of divine retribution. Although this is not my usual way of speaking, I will make an exception in this case. It is important to note that when I refer to divine retribution, I am drawing from the biblical story found in 1st Samuel Chapter 3. This story illustrates the consequences of turning a blind eye to sin and disobedience. God had warned Eli and sent prophets to speak to him, yet he continued to ignore the sins of his sons. As a result, God spoke with vengeance, declaring that He would eliminate Eli and his sons. This serves as a powerful example of the manifestation of divine retribution.
The story of Eli and his sons in 1st Samuel Chapter 3 demonstrates the significance of acknowledging and addressing sin. When Samuel, after listening to God, relayed His message to Eli, the response was telling. Eli accepted God’s will, acknowledging that the Lord should do as He pleases. This story serves as a reminder that divine retribution is a necessary component of spiritual awakening and transformation. It is a call to recognize the importance of divine justice and the consequences of turning away from God’s will.
In the context of Nigeria, there are individuals who underestimate the power of prayer and the presence of God in the nation. It is crucial for Nigerians to understand the significance of divine retribution and to pray for the manifestation of divine justice. Just as in the biblical story of Eli and his sons, there are times when divine intervention and a change of season can only occur through the manifestation of divine retribution. Therefore, it is essential for Nigerians to pray for divine justice and to recognize the importance of divine retribution in bringing about spiritual transformation.
May I speak honestly with you? As we progress through the year, we anticipate witnessing the intervention of God in our lives. We will persist in our prayers, seeking deliverance for our country from the bondage of violence, killings, and banditry. Consider the testimony of our sister this evening – the trauma she experienced is unimaginable for those who have not endured such horrors. The joy and excitement that once accompanied Christmas celebrations have been replaced by fear and apprehension. Families now travel with a sense of unease, and many have been forced to bid farewell to their villages until the situation improves. This ongoing turmoil has persisted for far too long, but we hold onto hope that the merciful God will intervene and bring an end to the exploitation of our commonwealth by those who have selfishly enriched themselves.
We believe that God will act sovereignly, bringing justice and retribution to those who have taken advantage of others, just as he did in the case of Eli’s sons. The repercussions of God’s intervention will be felt far and wide, not only in our country but across the globe. As the grip of the Covid pandemic loosens, we anticipate a great emergence of new leaders and influencers, and we are confident that you will be among them. However, we must also address the issue of missed opportunities and misplaced priorities. Emotional, mental, and spiritual displacement has caused many to miss their chance to fulfill their potential. Therefore, as we pray, let us also seek God’s guidance in aligning our priorities for the year 2022.
Time is limited this evening, but I urge you to consider the importance of seeking God’s help in setting your priorities straight. Let us not allow ourselves to be derailed by emotional, mental, or spiritual displacement, nor by the misplacement of our priorities. As we move forward, let us remain steadfast in our prayers, believing that God will bring about a positive transformation in our lives and in the world at large. Let us be vigilant and prepared for the emergence of new opportunities and the rise of new leaders, knowing that you, too, will play a significant role in the positive changes that lie ahead.
In the twelfth chapter of Hebrews, specifically verse 16, the scripture warns against the presence of a profane individual, exemplified by Esau, who, for a mere morsel of bread, relinquished his birthright. This narrative serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of misplaced priorities, which can lead individuals to forfeit their rightful seasons and opportunities. Esau, who was destined to inherit the legacy of his father Isaac and the lineage of Abraham, represents a critical example of how a lack of discernment regarding one’s priorities can result in significant loss and regret.
Another figure who embodies the consequences of misplaced priorities is Gehazi, who was meant to receive a double portion of the grace and anointing bestowed upon Elisha. Elisha, a prophet characterized by his divine focus and commitment to his mission, exemplified the importance of maintaining one’s priorities. In the account found in 2 Kings chapter 2, particularly from verse 11, a remarkable event unfolds as a chariot of fire appears, signifying the divine transition about to take place. Prior to this, Elijah had informed Elisha that the only condition for receiving the double portion he sought was to remain focused and attentive during the moment of his ascension.
The simplicity of Elisha’s instruction underscores a profound truth: the necessity of focus in the pursuit of one’s divine calling. As Gehazi’s story illustrates, the failure to prioritize correctly can lead to missed opportunities and unfulfilled potential. Today, we find ourselves in a generation that often struggles with misplaced priorities and a lack of focus, which can hinder spiritual growth and divine purpose. As we gather in prayer, it is imperative to recognize and address any forces that may be obstructing our alignment with divine priorities, ensuring that we remain steadfast in our pursuit of God’s calling in our lives.
In the upcoming year of 2022, the focus and prioritization are key elements that God is asking of you. The story of Elijah and Elisha in the Bible serves as a powerful example of how staying focused and prioritizing correctly can lead to great manifestations. When Elijah was taken up into heaven by a chariot of fire, Elisha witnessed this miraculous event and immediately took action. He did not waste any time but instead picked up Elijah’s mantle and went back to the Jordan River, ready to test the power he had received.
Elisha’s swift actions and unwavering faith in God’s grace and favor are qualities that we should all strive to embody in the year ahead. By believing in the power of God’s favor, we can avoid wasting time and instead be at the right place, at the right time, with the right people. Elisha’s determination to test the power of the mantle he had received from Elijah serves as a reminder that we must act quickly and decisively when opportunities present themselves.
As we enter the year of emergence, let us take inspiration from Elisha’s story and be ready to take bold steps towards our goals. Just as Elisha struck the Jordan River with Elijah’s mantle and witnessed a miraculous parting of the waters, we too can experience divine manifestations in our lives. By embracing grace, favor, and a proactive mindset, we can ensure that this year will be one of growth, success, and fulfillment. Let us not wait for the perfect moment but instead seize the opportunities that come our way, trusting in the power of God to guide us towards our destiny.
