Free From Sickness

FREE FROM SICKNESS

Experiencing freedom from illness is a profound declaration that we can affirm in our lives. It is essential to communicate this truth to those around us, whether they are neighbors, family members, or friends. This morning, let us boldly proclaim that we are liberated from sickness, as this aligns with the divine will for our lives. The concept of the Rapha Effect extends beyond mere healing; it encompasses a complete liberation from ailments. The scriptures affirm this in 3 John 2, where it is stated, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.” This verse highlights the dual aspect of well-being, emphasizing that physical health is a genuine promise from God, alongside the tranquility and prosperity of our minds and souls.

It is crucial to recognize that healing is not just a possibility but a right granted to us through covenant. This covenant, as revealed in the scriptures, assures us that healing is an integral part of the salvation package that Christ secured for us. He did not only sacrifice Himself for our spiritual redemption but also for our physical well-being. When we encounter health challenges, we must remember that God’s healing power is ever-present and accessible. Furthermore, we should cultivate a mindset that rejects the acceptance of chronic pain and illness. Life’s stresses and emotional burdens can lead to physical discomfort, but we are reminded that God has promised not to allow the afflictions of Egypt to befall us, as He is our healer. Thus, we are encouraged to seek His healing and maintain a stance of health and vitality in our lives.

It is essential to explore the various manifestations of God’s healing power as Jehovah Rapha, and to illustrate this, I will reference a passage from Luke chapter 8, which provides a practical example of Jesus’ ministry. Today, I aim to present a significant challenge to us all, but first, let us examine the diverse ways in which God reveals Himself in our lives as Jehovah Rapha. One prominent aspect of this divine manifestation is the healing of physical ailments, including sicknesses, infirmities, and pain. Psalm 41:3 states that the Lord will strengthen individuals during their illness and sustain them on their sickbeds. This scripture emphasizes that God is the one who elevates us from the depths of sickness, alleviating our suffering and restoring our health.

In addition to physical healing, God also addresses mental afflictions, as exemplified by Jesus’ healing of the man from Gadara, who suffered from severe mental distress. This case highlights the profound impact of mental illness, where individuals may feel as though they are under the control of external forces. Jonah’s experience in the belly of the whale, as described in Jonah 2:5-7, further illustrates the overwhelming nature of such afflictions, where despair can envelop one’s mind. However, just as God delivered Jonah from his dire circumstances, He also offers healing for spiritual fatigue. Psalm 23:3 reassures us that God leads us beside still waters and restores our souls, guiding us along paths of righteousness. This holistic approach to healing encompasses not only our physical and mental well-being but also our spiritual rejuvenation, affirming God’s comprehensive care for our entire being.

He provides healing for various ailments, including physical illnesses, emotional distress, and spiritual exhaustion. The Scriptures affirm that He mends the hearts of those who are broken and tends to their wounds, as stated in Psalm 147:3. I extend my prayers to anyone participating in this service who may be unaware of the emotional scars they carry. It is my hope that God will illuminate your understanding of your circumstances.

Faith does not negate reality; rather, it empowers the divine intervention of God to transcend the current situation.

The truth of Scripture holds greater significance than the present challenges, and it is this truth that can transform your experience. If you are grappling with emotional pain during this season, I pray that the healing touch of the Balm of Gilead envelops your wounds, bringing restoration and relief. This divine healing will enable your relationships and partnerships to flourish, free from the insecurities that have hindered them.

Furthermore, God extends His healing to anxiety and worry, embodying the essence of peace. As articulated in John 14:27, He assures us of His peace, which is distinct from the fleeting peace offered by the world. He encourages us not to let our hearts be troubled or fearful. This message resonates deeply, especially for those who are currently burdened by anxiety. I declare that the peace bestowed by Jesus will begin to dispel every negative emotion that weighs heavily on your heart. His promise of peace is a gift that surpasses worldly understanding, and it is this peace that we must embrace, for the world offers no true solace.

Jesus proclaimed, “I bestow upon you this peace; do not let your hearts be troubled or fearful.” Today, I extend my prayers to those who are burdened by anxiety and fear, invoking the healing power of God in the name of Jesus. As you participate in this service, I trust that by its conclusion, you will be able to affirm with confidence that the peace of God resides within your heart. This assurance will be your inheritance in the precious name of the Lord Jesus, and we give glory to Him for His unwavering support.

I would like to transition into the topic of claiming our healing in various aspects of our lives, whether it pertains to physical ailments, mental health challenges, spiritual exhaustion, or emotional distress. The act of claiming healing can be likened to the process of receiving a package from a courier service. Often, one must verify their identity to claim what has been sent, whether by presenting valid identification or simply showing up to collect it. Many individuals mistakenly believe that healing and prosperity will simply manifest without any effort on their part. However, it is crucial to recognize that God desires us to actively assert our victories. Sometimes, merely showing up is enough for the adversary to realize that they cannot withstand your presence, leading to a release of the burdens that have been placed upon you.

When presenting identification such as a driver’s license or an international passport, it serves as a confirmation of one’s identity and ownership of certain rights and privileges. Similarly, in spiritual matters, it is essential to assert what is documented in the Word of God. By doing so, one can effectively confront adversities, including spiritual challenges, with the authority bestowed upon them. This act of declaration is crucial, as it compels the opposition to retreat in the face of divine truth. It is imperative for believers to vocalize their authority over ailments and afflictions, claiming their healing and allowing divine intervention to manifest. The acknowledgment of Jesus’ glory is a vital aspect of this process, reinforcing the belief in His power to heal and restore.

To fully grasp the concept of claiming God’s promises, particularly regarding healing, it is important to recognize that healing can manifest in various forms. At times, it may be initiated through divine sovereignty, which requires the individual to actively participate in the process. A pertinent example can be found in the account from John chapter 5, which describes the Pool of Bethesda. This location was known for its five porches, where a multitude of sick individuals—blind, lame, and paralyzed—awaited the stirring of the waters, a representation of God’s sovereign action. The narrative illustrates that an angel would descend at specific intervals to agitate the water, granting healing to the first person who entered after the disturbance. This scenario exemplifies how divine sovereignty operates, yet it also emphasizes the necessity for individuals to be present and ready to respond to God’s movement in their lives.

There was a man present who had yet to embrace the possibility of his healing, a man who had suffered from impotence for an extended period. According to the biblical account, this individual had endured his affliction for thirty-eight years, a duration that, depending on life expectancy in various regions, could represent nearly half of a person’s lifetime. During this time, Jesus was physically present, possessing the divine authority to heal. When Jesus approached the man, He recognized that he had been in this state for a significant length of time. He posed a pivotal question: “Do you want to be made well?” Rather than expressing his deep desire for healing, the man responded in a manner reminiscent of some believers today, who often overanalyze their circumstances. Instead of seizing the moment, he offered excuses, reflecting a tendency to overlook the urgency of their healing and the promises of God.

The sick man replied, stating that he had no one to assist him into the pool when the waters were stirred, lamenting that others would always step in before him. However, Jesus was not inquiring about the pool; He was simply asking if the man wished to be healed. The man’s focus remained fixated on the pool, despite the presence of the Creator of both the pool and the angel who stirred the waters. This fixation on a singular solution prevented him from recognizing the broader possibilities available to him. It is crucial to understand that many individuals become accustomed to their conditions, often for far too long. When faced with ailments, their immediate response may be to self-medicate rather than seek divine intervention through prayer. This narrative serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and claiming the healing that is available, rather than allowing excuses to hinder one’s faith and potential for restoration.

The scripture conveys that God sent His word to heal and deliver individuals from their afflictions. In my personal experience, I have approached the word of God with the understanding that it embodies His promises, treating it as if Christ Himself were present before me. While I have relied on analgesics for relief, it is important to recognize that such temporary solutions may not address the root cause of the issue. My intention is not to discourage the use of medication; rather, I emphasize that God can employ various means for our healing. The primary focus should be on seeking Him, rather than solely depending on tablets, injections, or medical professionals. It is entirely possible for God to work through a physician who provides the appropriate treatment, yet the ultimate source of our healing transcends the confines of medical facilities.

In the current climate, many hospitals are overwhelmed, and individuals may hesitate to seek care due to fear. During such times, God is urging us to turn our gaze toward Him as our healer. He is the source of all knowledge, including the scientific advancements that contribute to our physical well-being, whether they manifest as medications or vaccines. The Bible teaches that the hidden things belong to God, while the revealed truths are for us and our descendants. This suggests that all scientific discoveries are part of God’s revelation. However, it is crucial to recognize that even with divine presence, many believers may still fixate on worldly solutions rather than placing their faith in Jesus and His word. The challenge lies in whether we seek God first or wait until all other options have been exhausted before turning to Him for help.

The divine presence that orchestrated the creation of both the angel and the pool was undeniably evident. It is crucial not to underestimate the omnipotence of God during this season, as affirmed in the sacred name of Jesus. A significant narrative I wish to explore from the scriptures today is that of the woman afflicted with a hemorrhage. This account illustrates how faith can be a catalyst for healing. While we have previously discussed God’s sovereignty, exemplified by Jesus’ sudden appearance to the afflicted man and the angel’s role at the pool, there are instances where individuals may doubt God’s power. In contrast, the woman who was resolute in her belief in God’s might approached Jesus and touched the hem of His garment, demonstrating her unwavering faith.

To provide further context, we turn to Luke chapter 8, beginning at verse 40, which recounts the story of Jairus, a synagogue leader who implored Jesus to heal his dying daughter. The scripture notes that upon Jesus’ return, a multitude eagerly awaited Him. Jairus, desperate for assistance, fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading for Him to come to his home, where his twelve-year-old daughter lay gravely ill. As Jesus set out with Jairus, the crowd pressed in around Him. It is within this throng that a woman, suffering from a bleeding condition for twelve years and having exhausted her resources on physicians without finding relief, approached Jesus from behind and touched the fringe of His garment. Instantly, her bleeding ceased. Following this miraculous event, Jesus inquired, “Who touched me?” This question perplexed His disciples, who noted the overwhelming crowd surrounding Him. Yet, Jesus clarified that He was not referring to the general contact of the crowd; rather, He felt a distinct transfer of power, indicating that someone had touched Him with genuine faith.

Jesus became aware that someone had reached out to him, a touch that was imbued with faith. This individual sought to claim what was rightfully hers, and in doing so, she received a profound healing. The woman who approached Jesus understood that something significant had transpired; she was aware that she had been granted healing. This scenario illustrates a crucial distinction: while it is one thing to acknowledge that God has the power to heal through His divine will, it is quite another to actively pursue that healing. Consider the narrative in John chapter 5; had the man truly recognized Jesus’ identity and placed his faith in Him, there would have been no need for Jesus to inquire if he desired to be made whole. The moment one perceives Jesus, the instinct should be to reach out for healing, just as this woman did.

This woman had endured a debilitating condition for twelve long years, suffering from a hemorrhage that likely impacted every aspect of her life, including her employment and personal relationships. The toll of her illness was immense, and the adversary often uses sickness to hinder individuals from realizing their full potential and pursuing their dreams. Despite her desperate attempts to find relief through various physicians, her condition only worsened. However, when she heard of Jesus, she recognized her opportunity for healing. As a Jew, she felt entitled to claim her healing, and she acted on that belief. In this season, I pray that God opens your eyes to the healing that has already been secured for you, urging you to claim and receive it in the name of the Lord Jesus.

While God may initiate healing through His sovereignty, individuals can also activate it through their faith, as exemplified by the woman with the issue of blood—a testament to the ongoing reality that God continues to bestow healing upon those who believe.

It is essential to embrace the healing that is rightfully yours, especially if you know someone who has been unwell during this season. This message is crucial for them to hear repeatedly, as it encourages them to confess the word of God and engage in specific actions that can facilitate their healing. The process of healing can manifest swiftly and abundantly, akin to popcorn popping, as God has already made provisions for our restoration. One of the primary methods to access this healing is through what is known as the prayer of faith. In James chapter 5, particularly from verse 13 onward, the scripture emphasizes the importance of prayer in times of distress. It encourages believers to pray for one another, especially those who are suffering, and to seek the support of church elders who can pray over the sick and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.

Furthermore, verse 15 highlights that the prayer of faith has the power to heal the sick, with the assurance that the Lord will uplift them. It also addresses the significance of confession, as stated in verse 16, where believers are urged to acknowledge their offenses towards one another and pray for each other to experience immediate healing. This passage underscores the tremendous power that is unleashed through the fervent prayers of righteous individuals. Therefore, if one truly believes in the word of God, it is imperative to have unwavering faith that such prayers can indeed activate the healing power of God, leading to miraculous transformations in health and well-being.

The act of praying for healing encompasses several important elements, including the prayer of faith, the prayer of agreement, and the anointing of the sick with oil by the elders of the church. These practices are rooted in biblical teachings, which assert that such prayers can lead to healing. Specifically, in the fifth chapter of the book of James, verse 16 emphasizes the significance of confessing our faults to one another, suggesting that this act facilitates the flow of healing.

When individuals acknowledge their grievances and seek reconciliation, they create an environment conducive to healing, as harboring grudges can lead to affliction.

The scripture encourages believers to pray for one another, which can result in immediate healing.

Recently, I had the opportunity to pray for an individual facing surgery due to a serious health condition. During this prayer, I felt a strong prompting from the Holy Spirit, revealing that bitterness was a significant factor contributing to the person’s affliction. After the prayer, I communicated with a family member who confirmed the presence of this bitterness, underscoring the need for the individual to release these negative feelings to prevent further suffering. It is essential to recognize and address our emotional and spiritual states, as doing so can unlock the healing that is rightfully ours. In addition to confessing the Word of God and claiming the promises found in scripture, it is vital to complete our obedience by either forgiving others or accepting forgiveness ourselves, thereby restoring our spiritual health and well-being.

The prayer of faith, which is a supplication made purely in belief regarding healing, has the power to bring about restoration. Additionally, the concept of agreement in prayer is emphasized in Matthew 18:18, where it is stated that whatever two individuals agree upon on earth will be granted by the Father in heaven. Jesus articulated this profound truth, asserting that what is bound on earth will also be bound in heaven, and what is loosed on earth will be loosed in heaven. In verse 19 of the same chapter, He further affirms that if two individuals unite in prayer, asking God for something in harmony, the heavenly Father will respond favorably to their request. This notion of a “symphony of prayer” highlights the importance of collective faith, whether it be between spouses, prayer partners, or any two believers who share a common faith.

Moreover, the Bible assures that significant blessings, including healing, will be released from heaven when prayers of agreement are offered. While it is certainly appropriate to seek the counsel of church elders, it is equally vital for couples to first engage in prayer together regarding their challenges, particularly concerning health issues. They should actively disallow sickness through their prayers of faith. Reflecting on personal experiences, one can recall instances of overcoming physical ailments, such as boils, through the application of faith. By simply placing a hand on the afflicted area and commanding it to cease, many have witnessed miraculous healings. Such experiences not only bolster one’s faith but also encourage the pursuit of greater requests from God. In this season, it is advisable to harness your faith to claim healing and to reject any negativity, while simultaneously allowing for the good to manifest in your life.

The authority bestowed upon us through Christ enables us to claim our healing in His name. This principle is vividly illustrated in the narrative found in Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 3, which recounts the encounter between Peter, John, and a man who was lame at the gate called Beautiful. As Peter and John approached the temple, the man looked to them, presumably hoping for alms. However, in verses 1 and 2, they declared that they possessed no silver or gold, but instead offered what they had: the power of Jesus’ name. Peter commanded the man to rise and walk, asserting that it was in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that he would be healed. Upon taking the man by the right hand and lifting him up, he was immediately strengthened, with his feet and ankle bones restored.

The miraculous event drew considerable attention, prompting inquiries from the onlookers who were astonished by the transformation they witnessed. In response to their amazement, Peter explained in verse 16 that it was through faith in the name of Jesus that the man was made strong. He emphasized that the faith that comes through Christ had granted the man perfect health in their presence. This account raises a critical question regarding our engagement with the name of Jesus. The Scriptures affirm that Jesus empowered His followers to cast out demons and promised protection from harm in His name. It is imperative for us to revisit and embrace the profound efficacy of that name, recognizing its significance in our lives and the authority it grants us in our spiritual endeavors.

He communicated His will, bringing healing and liberation from all forms of destruction. The divine word, when spoken through my lips, holds the same potency as when it is uttered by God Himself. Therefore, I boldly declare that He has borne my afflictions and ailments, and through His wounds, I have attained wholeness. I proclaim that any growth or ailment present is unwelcome and must cease to exist. I decree, in alignment with the divine word, that it shall wither away. It is essential to persist in affirming the word of God, as the Scriptures reveal that His blood serves as a propitiation for our transgressions, speaking of redemption that surpasses even the blood of Abel. This means that even in moments of wrongdoing, we find forgiveness and healing through His blood. By continually vocalizing the word of God over ourselves and our bodies, we reinforce the truth that if He has removed our burdens, they have no place in our lives.

Moreover, it is crucial to maintain a state free from bitterness and unforgiveness, as these can hinder the process of claiming one’s healing. Isaiah 58 emphasizes that prayer and fasting can significantly contribute to restoration, stating that healing will manifest swiftly when one engages in the fast that God has ordained. Although time constraints prevent a thorough examination of this scripture, I encourage a careful reading of Isaiah chapter 58. It highlights the benefits of fasting, which modern medical science supports, indicating that individuals who regularly fast—by occasionally skipping meals—often enjoy better health than those who eat continuously. Engaging in fasting, whether weekly or biweekly, allows the body to self-regulate and provides an opportunity for the system to rest and rejuvenate, ultimately promoting overall well-being.

The scripture in Isaiah 58 emphasizes that healing can emerge when individuals dedicate time to fasting and prayer, alongside serving God and making themselves available for His purposes. The Bible assures that those who obey and serve Him will experience prosperity and joy throughout their lives. Furthermore, it is stated that by serving Him, He will bless their sustenance and remove sickness from their midst. This divine promise highlights the importance of service to God as a pathway to health and longevity. It is essential to reflect on whether there are opportunities for service that one may be avoiding, as embracing these opportunities could be crucial for achieving good health and a fulfilling life.

In addressing negative reports and familiar spirits, it is vital to recognize the authority one possesses in Christ. When faced with adverse news, the appropriate reaction is to refer to the eternal truths established over two millennia ago, which hold greater weight than any current medical diagnosis. By juxtaposing these reports and exercising faith in the promises of God, one can declare healing and witness its manifestation. Additionally, it is important to take authority over recurring issues within family lineages, asserting that such patterns will not continue. By claiming healing and making conscious choices, such as consuming nourishing food, individuals can actively participate in their health and well-being, reinforcing their faith and commitment to God’s promises.

In contemporary society, there is a tendency for individuals to profess faith while neglecting the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is not sufficient to consume any food indiscriminately and expect to experience healing or divine health; one must be intentional about the nourishment they provide to their bodies. A key aspect of living in divine health involves making conscious choices regarding what to eat and avoiding harmful substances. Historically, the Old Testament illustrates God’s meticulous instructions to the Israelites regarding dietary laws, emphasizing the significance of these choices for their well-being. This principle is echoed in the New Testament, particularly in Acts chapter 10, where Peter is confronted with a vision that challenges his understanding of clean and unclean foods. The dietary restrictions outlined in the Mosaic Law were not arbitrary; they were designed to promote longevity and health, a covenant promise that should not be compromised by careless eating habits.

Furthermore, modern scientific research often aligns with these ancient dietary guidelines, as contemporary medical literature frequently cautions against certain foods that were deemed unfit for consumption in biblical times. This correlation underscores the timeless wisdom embedded in God’s instructions, which were intended to safeguard the health of His people. It is imperative for individuals to exercise self-discipline and authority over their dietary choices, recognizing that what they consume can significantly impact their overall health and longevity. By taking responsibility for their eating habits and adhering to principles that promote well-being, individuals can expect to witness God’s intervention in their lives in remarkable ways. Embracing this responsibility not only honors the covenant of long life but also invites divine blessings into one’s health journey.
