When one submits to the will of Jesus, it becomes clear that brilliance or exceptional intelligence is not a prerequisite for being used by God. In fact, an overreliance on one’s intellect can often hinder the flow of divine grace, as pride can create barriers to receiving God’s wisdom and guidance.
The message conveyed in 1 Corinthians 1:26 further reinforces this principle. The scripture reminds believers that when God called them, very few were considered wise, powerful, or wealthy by worldly standards. Instead, God intentionally chose what the world deems foolish and weak to confound the wise and the strong. This divine strategy serves to highlight the futility of human pride and the importance of humility in the presence of God. By selecting those who are overlooked and undervalued, God ensures that no one can boast about their own merits in His presence. This approach underscores the essence of grace, emphasizing that it is not human accomplishments that earn favor with God, but rather His unmerited grace that empowers and qualifies individuals for His purposes.
This morning, I believe our heartfelt prayer should be directed towards the Lord, asking for His guidance in helping us perceive ourselves through His eyes. We should seek the grace to understand our true worth and identity as seen by Him, giving glory to Jesus in the process. It is essential to recognize that we were not placed on this earth merely to blend into the shadows of despair; rather, we are called to illuminate the world with our light. In essence, we must declare our readiness to serve, saying, “Here I am, Lord; use me to radiate Your light during this season.”
As we reflect on our current state, it is crucial to examine our mindset. Are we allowing our past mistakes and failures to define us, or are we embracing a perspective that aligns with our divine purpose? David serves as a powerful example; he did not measure himself against the enormity of the challenges he faced. Instead, he approached his circumstances with a covenant mindset, recognizing his identity as God’s chosen. This understanding empowered him to confidently declare, “Here I am,” as he prepared to confront Goliath, demonstrating that faith and self-perception rooted in divine truth can overcome any obstacle.
In light of this, I urge you to consider your own posture during this season. Are you viewing yourself through the lens of previous errors, or are you embracing the potential that lies within you? The challenges we encounter may seem daunting, but like David, we must choose to see ourselves as God sees us. By doing so, we can confidently face new trials, knowing that our identity and strength are anchored in our relationship with Him. Let us stand firm in our faith, ready to shine our light and tackle whatever challenges may come our way.
