In Galatians 5:22, the New Living Translation articulates that the Holy Spirit cultivates various fruits in our lives, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. It is imperative for believers to not only acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit but also to actively allow Him to manifest these qualities within us, especially during challenging times when societal indicators may suggest despair.
As we delve deeper into this teaching, it is crucial to recognize that understanding the fruits of the Holy Spirit is only part of the equation; the Holy Spirit also empowers us to navigate life’s challenges. In Habakkuk 3:17, we are reminded that even in the face of adversityâwhen the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vineâwe are called to rejoice in the God of our salvation. Many believers have unfortunately inverted the understanding of the attributes of the Holy Spirit, often focusing more on personal gain rather than on the divine purpose that God intends to fulfill through them. This notion is clearly articulated in the Acts of the Apostles, specifically in chapter 1, verse 8, which states that believers will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, enabling them to be witnesses for Christ in various regions, including Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth. This scripture underscores that the primary function of the Holy Spirit’s power is to empower individuals to serve as witnesses and representatives of God, acting as His mouthpiece and envoy. In this capacity, believers are not only called to represent God on earth but are also empowered to live their lives to the fullest, embodying the principles of the Kingdom of Heaven.
However, it is evident that many individuals recognize the availability of the Holy Spirit’s power but often misdirect it towards personal ambitions. For instance, during job interviews, people tend to pray fervently, seeking wisdom and understanding to impress potential employers, yet they may neglect to channel that same intensity of prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit when engaging in evangelism or addressing societal issues. The power of the Holy Spirit should also be utilized to discern and confront negative influences within the community, such as individuals who spread deceit and falsehood. This perspective aligns with the prophetic insights of Isaiah, who foretold the characteristics of the Messiah in chapter 11, emphasizing the importance of divine empowerment in fulfilling God’s mission on earth.
In the eleventh chapter of Isaiah, the text begins with a profound declaration that a shoot will emerge from the lineage of Jesse, and a branch will sprout from its roots. This imagery not only refers to Christ but also extends to believers, as it signifies the presence of the Spirit of the Lord resting upon Him. Verse two elaborates on the attributes of this Spirit, which include wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. These qualities are essential for individuals striving to excel in various aspects of life, particularly in their professional endeavors. The necessity for wisdom is paramount; it is through divine insight that one can navigate the complexities of a career. The Spirit of counsel is equally vital, as it provides internal guidance, allowing individuals to discern the right course of action through divine inspiration.
Furthermore, the Spirit of might embodies a form of courage and boldness that transcends superficial sources such as substances or external influences. This divine boldness is rooted in the power of God, offering believers a foundation that is both authentic and transformative. The Holy Spirit equips individuals not only to advance in their personal lives but also to effectively engage in the mission of winning souls for the Kingdom. The credibility of oneâs testimony in preaching the gospel is significantly enhanced when one actively seeks the wisdom imparted by the Holy Spirit. Many individuals fail to engage in meaningful dialogue with the Holy Spirit, neglecting to seek His counsel or to express their concerns. In our church, we have established an open counseling ministry, emphasizing the importance of divine guidance. Frequently, the challenges we face could be significantly alleviated if we were to consult the Holy Spirit. This relationship should be marked by a consistent walk with the Holy Spirit, where one can discern His voice, comprehend His will, and live according to His principles. Believers are called to embody a kingdom lifestyle, viewing themselves as representatives of heaven, rather than being caught in a cycle of crisis-driven prayer.
Your primary focus and responsibility should be to ensure that the will of God is manifested on earth. Jesus instructed us on how to pray, emphasizing the importance of addressing God as our Father in heaven, acknowledging the sanctity of His name, and expressing the desire for His kingdom to come and His will to be fulfilled on earth just as it is in heaven. This invocation precedes our request for daily sustenance, highlighting the priority of divine purpose over material needs. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is fundamentally aimed at advancing the kingdom of God, and as we engage in this mission, we will find that our needs, including the provision of daily bread, will be abundantly met. This principle is encapsulated in Matthew 6:33, where Jesus instructs us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, assuring us that all other necessities will follow.
In the early stages of our Christian journey, many of us mistakenly believed that seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness was solely about maintaining personal holiness and cleanliness. However, it is crucial to recognize that one can be outwardly pure yet remain ineffective in God’s service. Just as a clean plate is of no use until it is employed, so too is holiness without purpose. It is essential for individuals, regardless of their perceived cleanliness, to prepare themselves for divine use. God desires not only moral integrity but also active participation in His mission. Merely abstaining from wrongdoing is insufficient; one must also take a stand against corruption and advocate for righteousness in their environment. Ultimately, the true measure of holiness lies in being a vessel for God’s voice and purpose. It is imperative to understand that the power of the Holy Spirit is bestowed upon us for a specific mission, and until we embrace this calling, we will not fully experience the transformative impact of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Many individuals seek to utilize God for their own purposes without a willingness to be instruments of His will. This message is directed at you, as God has a purpose for your life and desires to work through you in your current circumstancesâwhether that be in your neighborhood, workplace, or even within social media groups where negativity prevails. It is crucial to recognize that remaining passive in such environments does not align with being a true representative of heaven. You cannot expect the Holy Spirit to assist you if you are not actively engaging in your faith and allowing His influence to permeate your life.

Their morning preparations did not include a plan to heal a lame man; however, living in harmony with the Holy Spirit often leads to unexpected occurrences that transcend our initial intentions. As they approached the temple for prayer at the ninth hour, they encountered a man at the gate who was unable to walk. Initially, they overlooked him, but upon his plea for assistance, they recognized that although they lacked monetary resources, they possessed something far more valuableâthe power of the Holy Spirit within them.
In that moment, Peter declared, “Silver and gold we do not have, but what we have we give to you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” As they took the man by the hand, he was miraculously restored to health, rising to walk and glorifying God. This divine intervention can manifest in various situations, such as praying fervently until a breakthrough occurs in someone’s life or addressing a pressing business challenge with unwavering prayer. The same divine authority that empowers an individual to facilitate a life-changing moment for another is equally capable of transforming a business predicament. It is imperative to recognize that the Holy Spirit can guide one to the necessary resources and actions required to elevate one’s circumstances. Instead of seeking assistance from numerous sources, one should earnestly request the Holy Spirit’s guidance to identify the right path forward.
Moreover, it is essential to understand that relying solely on human assistance may lead to prolonged periods of uncertainty and frustration. When God directs an individual to a specific person, that connection is often divinely ordained, leaving no room for refusal. This principle is illustrated in biblical accounts, such as when Jesus instructed His disciples to find a donkey tied at the crossroads, emphasizing that divine provision is already in place. Similarly, when preparing for the Last Supper, Jesus directed His disciples to a man with an upper room, demonstrating that God orchestrates events for His purposes. The narrative of Elijah being sent to a widow in Zarephath further exemplifies this divine guidance, as it was not just any widow, but the one specifically chosen by the Holy Spirit. Such instances highlight the importance of heeding divine direction, as it leads to miraculous outcomes that surpass human efforts.
In this season, I encourage you to place your trust in God by embracing four key attributes that the Holy Spirit unlocks within believers. The first of these attributes is courage, which is essential not only for evangelism but also for advancing in your professional endeavors. It is crucial to recognize that the same courage required to reach out to others and share the Gospel is the courage needed to approach a superior in the workplace and offer to pray for them. There may be individuals in your life who are experiencing turmoil and are in desperate need of assistance. As a vessel of the Holy Spirit, you are called to step forward with confidence, knowing that God can empower you to confront any situation, whether it involves approaching a senior colleague or even addressing influential figures in society.
Furthermore, it is important to understand that true courage does not stem from external substances or influences, such as alcohol, which some may rely on to muster the strength to engage with others. Instead, the presence of the Holy Spirit within you provides the necessary boldness to face any challenge. I recall an experience from my past when I attended a naming ceremony in Lagos while serving as an associate pastor. Upon arriving, I encountered a man who attempted to intimidate me regarding where I had parked my car. Despite his aggressive demeanor and the fact that he was known to be involved in occult practices, I stood my ground, asserting my right to park in a legal space. This encounter serves as a testament to the power of the Holy Spirit, which equips believers to confront fear and opposition with unwavering faith and resolve.
Individuals often distance themselves from him, expressing gratitude for their ignorance, as it is perceived to be more advantageous to embark on a journey of unawareness. This state of ignorance can sometimes shield one from the burdensome knowledge of the occult, which can be overwhelming. As I engaged in conversation with him, I found my own courage growing. The man, whose son I was to name, approached me in a state of desperation, pleading for me to avoid confrontation and to leave the situation. I firmly instructed him to refrain from touching my vehicle, asserting that we would proceed inside to name his child. I was resolute in my belief that no matter what the man intended, whether he wished for my car to vanish or not, I would rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to protect me.
We entered the building, and I performed the naming ceremony without incident. Upon our return, the man was agitated, threatening to compel me to drive my car into the ocean. I encouraged him to speak his mind, while others around me urged me to leave, fearing repercussions once I departed. I sought to instill confidence in them, reminding them that they had a right to stand firm, as they were not beholden to anyone but themselves. I drove a BMW 3 Series at the time, and I continued to use that vehicle for another two years until I felt divinely inspired to give it away. Throughout this period, nothing adverse occurred to me or the car, and I remain here today, sharing my experiences. It is crucial to understand that without the Holy Spirit, one may tend to overemphasize the influence of witchcraft and sorcery. The scriptures affirm that believers are seated with Christ in heavenly realms, far above all forms of spiritual opposition, and it is essential to approach these matters with faith and conviction.
God desires to instill within you a sense of boldness and courage through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. This divine boldness equips you with the readiness to articulate and act upon the inspirations provided by the Spirit. Such courage is essential not only for personal growth but also for professional advancement, as it can significantly influence your prospects for promotion. However, it is crucial to prioritize the use of this power for God’s purposes, as doing so ensures that you are supported by divine authority when addressing challenges, such as speaking in a boardroom. The primary mission of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is to expand the Kingdom of God. When we divert this power for self-serving purposes, we risk losing the backing of the Kingdom, which is vital for our endeavors.
Furthermore, the Holy Spirit plays a pivotal role in cultivating compassion and empathy within us. This heartfelt awareness of the needs and desires of others is a manifestation of the Spirit’s work in our lives. Jesus exemplified this compassion throughout His ministry, healing those in need and feeding the multitudes, driven by His deep concern for their well-being. In the same way, the Holy Spirit will inspire you to act with compassion, leading to remarkable outcomes in your life and endeavors. As you respond to this divine prompting, you may witness the multiplication of resources and opportunities, particularly in your business ventures. This flourishing is not merely a result of hard work but is intricately linked to the compassionate actions you take, motivated by the Holy Spirit. Those who act from a place of compassion often find that their prayers are answered more readily, as they align their intentions with the heart of God.
