MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR SEEDS
This morning, I wish to share a message that resonates deeply within my heart, trusting that the Holy Spirit will guide my words as I address this congregation and those joining us online, as well as those who may view this message in the future. This weekend has ignited a profound sense of purpose in our hearts regarding the divine work unfolding among us. It is essential for me to convey certain truths during this singular teaching session today, which I believe will be beneficial for everyone present. While we may explore these themes further in subsequent gatherings or series, it is crucial to establish this foundational truth now, enabling each of you to embrace it fully and apply it in your lives.
As we delve into the topic of abundance, I urge you to consider the phrase “make room for your seed.” Let us reflect on a pertinent scripture that illustrates this concept, specifically the account of Elisha and the widow. In this narrative, the widow approaches Elisha, expressing her dire situation following her husband’s death and the impending threat of losing her sons to creditors. Elisha, embodying the voice of God, poses a pivotal question: “What shall I do for you?” This inquiry resonates with anyone who finds themselves in a state of scarcity or merely getting by, yearning for a transition to a state of abundance that allows them to bless others. Elisha’s subsequent question about what the widow possesses in her home prompts her to reveal that she has only a jar of oil. He then instructs her to “go borrow vessels,” emphasizing the importance of preparation and faith in receiving God’s blessings.
He instructs to seek out vessels from all around, specifically empty ones, and not just any vessels, but those that are devoid of contents. The directive emphasizes the importance of gathering a substantial number of these empty vessels, indicating a broader perspective on the act of borrowing. This notion of borrowing extends beyond the immediate community, suggesting a global, national, and local significance that one must embrace. It is essential to reflect on these various dimensions of borrowing vessels, as they hold profound implications for our understanding and actions. The reading continues with the instruction to return home, close the door behind her and her sons, and begin pouring into the gathered vessels, setting aside those that are filled.
The woman, demonstrating faith-driven initiative, transformed her previous frustrations into a proactive response following her divine encounter. This moment of revelation allowed her to recognize the potential she possessed at home, prompting her to take unconventional steps. Typically, one would expect to fill a tank by visiting a fuel station, where larger supplies are drawn from underground reserves into smaller containers. However, in the realm of abundance, it is crucial to grasp that God often encourages us to utilize our seemingly insignificant resources. Although these initial offerings may appear small, they possess the potential to yield substantial outcomes, as every great fruit originates from a modest seed. Are you still engaged with this message today?
For anyone aspiring to live a life of abundance, it is essential to recognize that God does not begin with grand gestures or overwhelming displays of power.
Instead, His approach often starts with the seemingly insignificant, akin to the act of pouring from a small jar into larger containers. This may appear irrational at first glance, yet it is a profound truth. The narrative illustrates that as the woman continued to pour, the larger vessels filled up until she reached a point where there were no more containers available. At that moment, the flow of oil ceased, highlighting a critical principle: the abundance is contingent upon the availability of space to receive it. When the vessels ran out, so did the oil, emphasizing that the divine provision is sensitive to the capacity we create for it in our lives.
To truly engage with God and experience the fullness of covenant abundance, one must embrace certain foundational truths. A key aspect of this is understanding that God operates on the principle of sowing seeds, which are often small and easily overlooked. His desire for humanity is to be fruitful, to multiply, and to thrive, as articulated in the very first instructions given to mankind in Genesis 1. The scripture reveals that God created humanity in His own image, endowing them with the authority to dominate the earth. In verse 28, it is stated that God blessed them and commanded them to be fruitful and to fill the earth, asserting their dominion over all living things. This divine mandate underscores the original intention for humanity to live in abundance, reinforcing the notion that our capacity to receive and grow is intrinsically linked to our willingness to recognize and act upon the small beginnings that God provides.
How will humanity populate the earth? The answer lies in the principle of multiplication inherent in the concept of seed. This principle is articulated in Genesis 1:11, where God commands the earth to produce vegetation, specifically grass and herbs that yield seeds, as well as fruit trees that bear fruit containing seeds of their own. This foundational verse reveals a significant truth: God designed the apple tree to produce fruit, and within that fruit lies the seed necessary for the growth of additional apple trees. The implication is clear; if one desires more apples, one must plant the seeds contained within the fruit. This principle of perpetuation through seeds is not only applicable to trees but also to humanity, as we, too, are carriers of seeds. Thus, the earth is filled through this divine design of multiplication.
Furthermore, it is essential to understand that everything in creation responds to the concept of seed.
Some may believe that the adversary harbors a deep-seated animosity towards them, but in reality, the true target of this animosity is the seed they carry. In Genesis 3, following humanity’s transgression, God addresses the serpent, proclaiming that the seed of the woman will ultimately triumph over evil. This notion of “seed” is pivotal, as it signifies potential and destiny. To fully embrace the plans God has for you, it is crucial to recognize and trust in the seed that has been entrusted to you. God has intricately woven the principle of fruitfulness into the fabric of nature, emphasizing the importance of seeds in the cycle of life and growth.
The divine design of humanity includes the concept of potential, symbolized by seeds, which God has intricately woven into the fabric of existence. The challenge faced by many individuals today lies in their heightened awareness of their immediate needs, overshadowing the recognition of the seeds they possess. This principle is illustrated in the biblical account found in 2 Kings chapter 4, where the prophet inquires about the resources available to a woman in distress. His question, “What do you have in your house?” emphasizes the importance of identifying one’s inherent potential. It is crucial to understand that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, is endowed with seeds of opportunity. The true limitation arises not from a lack of resources but from an inability to recognize and cultivate these seeds, which hinders one’s ability to experience the fullness of abundance promised in the covenant.
The pathway to elevating one’s circumstances lies in embracing the principle of sowing seeds rather than fixating on needs. The biblical narrative post-Noah’s flood establishes a foundational truth: as long as the earth endures, the cycle of seedtime and harvest will persist. This principle serves as a guiding framework for all who inhabit the planet, indicating that the focus should be on what can be sown rather than what is lacking. Unfortunately, many individuals carry their needs as burdens, which limits their potential for growth and prosperity. In contrast, those who adopt a seed-focused mindset are empowered to transcend their current limitations and explore new horizons. It is imperative to shift from a survival mentality to one that actively seeks to plant and nurture seeds, thereby unlocking the abundant life that is available to all who choose to engage with this divine principle.
The influence of the covenant manifests profoundly within us, particularly impacting our potential and the legacy we leave behind. However, much like the widow in the biblical narrative, the weight of our immediate needs can often overshadow our ability to recognize our inherent gifts and contributions. There are individuals who, burdened by feelings of inadequacy, perceive themselves as lacking purpose or value. This sense of hopelessness is a tactic employed by the adversary, who skillfully obscures their vision, preventing them from acknowledging their unique potential. It is my earnest prayer that any form of spiritual blindness affecting those present, or those who will hear this message in the future, be lifted. May the Lord grant you clarity and the ability to discern the opportunities and gifts that surround you, as they are intrinsically linked to your advancement.
Reflecting on a personal experience from over two decades ago, I recall my time working alongside Pastor Sam Adeyemi, where I served as the producer for his radio program, Success Power, which aired on Ray Power FM. This period was not only formative in my professional journey but also a testament to the power of recognizing one’s seed. The lessons learned during that time emphasized the importance of understanding and nurturing the potential within us, as everyone possesses a seed of greatness. It is my hope that as we enter this new month of May, you will be empowered to discover and cultivate new seeds in your life, leading to growth and fulfillment. Let us affirm this together with a resounding amen, as we embrace the promise of new beginnings and the realization of our potential.
In a particular series, I collaborated closely with him as a scriptwriter, and we would subsequently enter the studio where I took on the role of director for all related content. One notable series was titled “Start With What You Have,” which originated as a radio program and was later adapted into a book. Several months after the initial broadcast, a woman reached out to us, either through a letter or by visiting our office; the specifics escape me now, but it was approximately six months post-broadcast. She shared a testimony that resonated deeply with the themes I had discussed earlier that day. This woman, much like the widow I had referenced, recounted her struggles after losing her husband. She explained that they had lived a carefree lifestyle, often indulging in parties, leaving them without savings to cover their children’s school fees.
Upon listening to the broadcast, she recalled how my pastor emphasized the idea of starting with what one has, drawing parallels to the story of the widow. As the program concluded, she prayed for divine insight, and in that moment, she heard a vendor outside calling out for bottles, a common sight in Lagos where individuals would collect discarded bottles for resale. This prompted her to realize that her home was filled with empty beer and soft drink bottles accumulated from their previous gatherings. She instructed her son to summon the vendor, who then assessed the value of the bottles. This was not merely a fictional tale; it unfolded right in Lagos. The vendor offered her a modest sum for the bottles, which she used to launch her own business. Remarkably, six months later, she was able to afford her children’s school fees, illustrating the transformative power of recognizing and utilizing what one already possesses.
The prosperity of a business can be attributed to divine favor, as evidenced by the positive outcomes that arise from heartfelt communication with producers. It is remarkable how God can illuminate the path for individuals, enabling them to recognize the potential within their endeavors. This recognition can facilitate a transition from a state of scarcity to one of sufficiency or even abundance. By maintaining a steadfast commitment to this journey, one can confidently anticipate a future characterized by surplus. It is essential to acknowledge this truth and to encourage those around us to embrace it, as collective affirmation can strengthen our resolve.
In discussions about prosperity, it is crucial to focus on the concept of sowing rather than merely addressing needs. The earth responds to seeds, not to the cries of want. Farmers do not plant their needs; they plant seeds, which are the true catalysts for growth and abundance. When confronted with individuals who consistently express their needs without recognizing their own potential contributions, it is vital to redirect the conversation. Just as the prophet guided the widow to acknowledge her resources amidst her struggles, we too must encourage others to identify and cultivate their own seeds. It is a disservice to enable those who possess untapped potential by merely addressing their needs, as this can lead to stagnation. The parable of the talents serves as a poignant reminder that neglecting to utilize one’s gifts is not only unwise but also unjust, as these gifts are meant to flourish and multiply within the fertile ground of opportunity.
The concept of seed being ineffective without the provision of space is crucial to understand, as I have previously mentioned. While I am introducing this idea now, it is essential to recognize that we may explore it further at a later time. It is imperative for someone to grasp the significance of this notion, particularly in relation to the scripture we have examined. When the woman declared that she possessed nothing but a jar of oil, the prophet’s immediate response was to instruct her to borrow vessels, highlighting the necessity of space. Seeds are not meant to be carried in one’s pocket; they require an environment conducive to growth. A seed that is confined will remain stagnant, and in some cases, may even deteriorate. Seeds inherently seek space to flourish and express their potential. The initial directive given to Abraham in the covenant, as recorded in Genesis 12:1, emphasizes this need for space: he was instructed to leave his current location and journey to a place that would be revealed to him. This illustrates that every individual has a designated space where their seeds can achieve their fullest expression, leading to growth, abundance, and fruitfulness.
Throughout human existence, the desire for space has been a fundamental aspect of life, from birth to death. The need for space is vital for expression; without it, even a developing child can face dire consequences in the womb. This is particularly relevant when addressing specific health issues, such as fibroids, which pose a significant threat to the space necessary for life and growth. This condition is especially prevalent among black women and represents a critical challenge that must be addressed through both prayer and scientific intervention.
The formation of a soul is a delicate process, and any obstruction to the space it requires can have profound implications.
Thus, it is essential to focus on these issues to ensure that both seeds and the spaces they inhabit are nurtured and protected.
The assertion being made is that there exists a significant truth regarding the experiences of women, particularly among people of color, which warrants further exploration. This phenomenon raises questions about its origins and implications, suggesting a need for a deeper understanding and resolution. The metaphor of space is employed to illustrate that the womb is intended for nurturing life, while fibroids are described as intruders that disrupt this natural purpose. The contention for this space is likened to a spiritual battle, where negative forces seek to occupy the mental and emotional realms of individuals, thereby hindering their ability to fulfill their destinies. The prevalence of mental health issues today can be viewed as a manifestation of this struggle, where the mind becomes overwhelmed with problems rather than being able to focus on potential and purpose.
Furthermore, the discussion extends to the concept of physical space, emphasizing its importance in various aspects of life, including business and personal growth. The biblical reference to Isaac illustrates that even those under divine covenant face challenges in claiming their rightful space, as adversarial forces often seek to obstruct progress. The narrative suggests that individuals must actively engage in the fight for their space, both mentally and physically, to achieve their goals. The historical context of wars fought over territory underscores the significance of space in human endeavors, reinforcing the idea that securing one’s space is essential for success and fulfillment. This call to action encourages individuals to trust in a higher power while striving to overcome obstacles that impede their progress.
The concept of space has been a central theme in numerous conflicts throughout history, particularly in the context of territorial disputes. Israel’s ongoing struggles can be traced back to its geographical positioning, which has made it a focal point of contention for centuries. Similarly, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia exemplifies how nations often seek to control and dominate the land of others, driven by the desire for territorial expansion. Throughout history, many significant wars have erupted over the quest for space, highlighting its critical importance. In a more personal context, individuals often find themselves embroiled in disputes over property, which underscores the notion that understanding and managing space is essential for prosperity. In the realm of abundance, grasping the concept of space is fundamental; failure to do so may result in repeated challenges and setbacks.
In the biblical narrative of Isaac, we see a profound illustration of the struggle for space. After facing opposition and conflict over wells, Isaac’s perseverance led him to dig another well, which was ultimately unchallenged. This moment is captured in Genesis 26:22, where Isaac names the well Rehoboth, signifying a place of ample space where he could thrive without contention. The essence of this story reveals that true fruitfulness is linked to the availability of space, a concept that resonates deeply in both spiritual and practical realms. It is a reminder that, with divine support, one can find a place of abundance where dreams and visions can flourish freely. May those seeking such a space find their own Rehoboth, a sanctuary where aspirations can be realized without hindrance.
The sons of the prophet approached Elisha, expressing their concern that their current dwelling was insufficient for their needs. They articulated a common experience where individuals often find themselves in situations that feel constricted or inadequate. This sentiment resonates with the narrative of the widow in 2 Kings chapter 4, where the flow of oil ceased only when the vessels ran out. For those who may feel stagnant in their current circumstances, it is essential to recognize that the key to unlocking greater abundance may lie in trusting God for a more expansive environment. God possesses the unique ability to fill the spaces we create, and as a pastor, I can attest to the blessings our ministry has received in securing favorable locations through divine favor. It is a testament to the grace present within our community, which enables us to acquire the necessary spaces for fulfilling our destinies.
In today’s digital era, the concept of space has evolved beyond the physical realm to encompass various platforms that can amplify one’s potential. There are numerous digital avenues awaiting the seeds of creativity and talent, which can lead to significant visibility and success. Many individuals have risen to prominence through platforms like Instagram, where their unique contributions gained widespread recognition. This illustrates that the right space for one’s endeavors is crucial; without it, one’s efforts may go unnoticed. As I conclude, I pray that this week brings forth new opportunities and platforms for those seeking to expand their reach and impact. In 2 Kings chapter 6, the sons of the prophet again approached Elisha, reiterating their need for a larger dwelling, and proposed a journey to the Jordan to gather materials for a new place to reside.
He responded affirmatively, indicating his willingness to accompany them. They had approached him with a request, expressing the need for a larger space and proposing that they cut down trees to construct a more expansive facility. He encouraged them to proceed with their plans, and when they insisted that he join them, he agreed to go along. Upon reaching the Jordan River, they began their work of felling trees. However, during the process, one of the workers accidentally dropped the iron axe head into the water, prompting a cry of distress as he realized it was borrowed. The man of God inquired about the location of the incident, and after being shown the spot, he took a stick, threw it into the water, and miraculously caused the iron to float. He instructed the worker to retrieve it, which he did.
It is essential to grasp the underlying message here, particularly when seeking divine assistance for expansion and new opportunities. As illustrated in Genesis 26 with Isaac, challenges often arise when one endeavors to pursue greater aspirations. This theme recurs in 2 Kings chapter 6, where the sons of the prophets recognized their need for a larger space and sought the guidance of the man of God, symbolizing a call for divine partnership in their endeavors. Elijah’s agreement to accompany them signifies the importance of seeking divine support in our pursuits. When faced with obstacles, such as financial burdens that may discourage one from taking risks or pursuing new ventures, it is crucial to remember that God is capable of performing miracles. For those currently grappling with debt or uncertainty, it is vital to maintain hope, as divine intervention can lead to unexpected solutions and renewed opportunities for growth.
The fervent cry of the individual, pleading “Alas, master, for it was borrowed,” encapsulates a profound sense of urgency and desperation. The implication is clear: without the retrieval of this crucial asset, the individual faces dire consequences, akin to a life-or-death situation. This project, which hinges on the successful acquisition of the asset, cannot progress under the weight of stagnation. The biblical reference to 2 Kings 6 serves as a poignant reminder of divine intervention in times of financial distress and halted endeavors. The narrative illustrates the necessity of identifying the source of one’s troubles, as the man of God instructs to “show me where it fell.” The miraculous act of cutting a tree and casting it into the water, resulting in the floating axe head, symbolizes God’s will to restore and expand one’s capacity, shielding them from adversities that lead to indebtedness and project failure.
Understanding the dynamics between divine providence and the adversarial forces at play is crucial for believers navigating the path of abundance. It is insufficient to possess knowledge of God’s nature; one must also be vigilant regarding the tactics employed by the devil to disrupt progress and sow discord. The scriptures are replete with instances where the devil seeks to thwart individuals’ efforts, as highlighted in Isaiah 54. The exhortation to “sing, O barren” and to “enlarge the place of your tent” serves as a powerful call to action, encouraging believers to embrace hope and expansion despite their current circumstances. The directive to strengthen one’s foundations and prepare for growth underscores the promise that descendants will inherit nations and transform desolate cities into thriving communities. This assurance of expansion rather than contraction is a testament to the boundless possibilities that await those who remain steadfast in faith.
