Praise God! This assurance is vital for maintaining our anchor in faith. To remain steadfast, it is essential for me to have a deep-seated confidence in His divine presence. I seek the certainty that God is perpetually by my side. There are moments in life when one may experience doubt regarding His proximity, leading to a crisis of faith. It is not uncommon to encounter circumstances that challenge our belief in His constant companionship, and many of us may currently be navigating such trials.
In fact, there are specific life situations that can evoke feelings of abandonment, making it seem as though God has distanced Himself from us. During these times, it is easy to question whether our struggles matter to Him or if He truly cares for our well-being. Such doubts can be particularly disheartening, especially when we feel overwhelmed by our challenges. It is crucial to remember that even in our darkest moments, the assurance of His presence can provide the strength and comfort needed to persevere. By fostering this assurance, we can remain anchored in our faith, trusting that God is always with us, regardless of the circumstances we face.
As I reflect on my upbringing, I find myself contemplating the complexities of familial relationships, particularly in the context of growing up in a polygamous household. The presence of multiple maternal figures inevitably led to comparisons, a phenomenon familiar to those who have shared similar experiences. It is essential to recognize that throughout our lives, we will face a multitude of challenges. During these times, it may feel as though we are isolated, as if God has abandoned us, which can lead to a disconnection from the belief that His presence is with us. This sentiment mirrors the experience of Christ’s disciples when they found themselves in a perilous situation on a boat, struggling against the waves while Jesus rested peacefully in the stern. For instance, during a moment of crisis when Christ was asleep in the boat, the disciples faced a dire situation as the vessel was on the verge of sinking. Despite the chaos surrounding them, God was present, yet the disciples sought a tangible experience to affirm His presence. When Jesus awakened, He addressed their lack of faith, reminding them that their fears were unfounded. His ability to calm the storm was a testament to His omnipresence, emphasizing that God is always with us, regardless of our circumstances. Moreover, trials and tribulations serve a purpose in our spiritual journey, as articulated in the book of James. In this season of recession, numerous people are navigating changes, whether it be moving from one industry to another or adapting to new responsibilities. God has promised to guide us into uncharted territories, often referred to as “blue oceans,” and as we embark on these new journeys, it is essential to ground ourselves in the understanding of His unwavering presence.
As Joshua stepped into this new chapter, having previously accompanied Moses in leading two million people through the wilderness, he was met with divine reassurance from God regarding His constant presence. Moses himself had once implored God, stating that without His presence, they should not proceed. The Psalmist echoes this sentiment, affirming that in the presence of God, even the mightiest obstacles are overcome, and the very nature of reality is transformed. God serves as the anchor for our souls, and recognizing His omnipresence is crucial, especially during challenging times when we may lose sight of this truth. The Scriptures remind us that there is no place we can go where God is not present; whether in the depths or the heights, He is there. Therefore, it is vital to remain aware of His abiding presence, for He is Jehovah Shammah, the Lord who is always present, ever faithful, and timely in His support.
In concluding the anchor series, it is essential for someone present this morning to depart with a revitalized awareness of God’s divine presence. This renewed consciousness is crucial; therefore, I encourage you to affirm to yourself that God is with you, always by your side, and will never abandon you. It is vital to recognize that God is steadfastly holding onto you, and in turn, you must not let go of Him. Many individuals may find themselves drifting away, especially at the start of the year when expectations may not align with reality. If January has not unfolded as anticipated, it is easy to feel isolated and question the effectiveness of remaining steadfast. However, patience in God’s timing and an awareness of His constant presence are paramount.
For those facing tumultuous times, the key is to remain anchored. The intensity of the storm is less significant than the strength of your anchor and the foundation upon which you stand. A profound understanding of God’s love, as articulated in 1 John 4:4, reveals that perfect love dispels fear. When you internalize this truth, it empowers you to confront your fears. Reflecting on my own experiences during my formative years in boarding school, I recall feeling vulnerable due to my small stature. I was often overshadowed by larger peers, yet I learned that the strength of my spirit and the love surrounding me provided a sense of security. As you prepare for your day, remember that even if God was not present in your workplace before your arrival, your consciousness of His presence brings Him with you, fulfilling His promise to always be by your side.
In the first chapter of Joshua, verse 5, it is stated that no individual will be able to confront you throughout your life, as God assures His unwavering presence, akin to His companionship with Moses. This divine promise emphasizes that when one enters into a covenant with God and is assigned a mission, God not only initiates that assignment but also accompanies the individual throughout the journey. The assurance of God’s presence is paramount; when Moses expressed his reluctance to proceed without God’s guidance, the Lord affirmed that His presence would indeed accompany them, providing peace and reassurance. This highlights the importance of divine support in fulfilling one’s purpose.

The jailer, astonished by their unwavering faith, questioned whether they were indeed human, as they chose to stay despite their freedom being granted. Faced with the prospect of his own demise, he sought guidance from them, asking what he must do to attain salvation, indicating that their demeanor and faith had profoundly impacted him. This scenario illustrates that the prisoners were not merely seeking physical release but were acutely aware of God’s presence in their midst.
This situation draws parallels to the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the third chapter of Daniel, where they boldly declared their faith in God’s ability to deliver them from the fiery furnace. Many individuals are currently experiencing significant challenges, akin to being subjected to a microwave’s intense heat, while others have endured trials that resemble the searing flames of a furnace. Those who faced such trials often found themselves in peril, yet their faith in God’s presence provided them with the strength to persevere. They anchored their souls in this belief, which ultimately led to their salvation. I declare over your life this morning, in the name of Jesus, that the enduring presence of God will become a central theme in your life. You will come to recognize and understand His presence deeply, as affirmed in the name of the Lord Jesus. This is echoed in 1 Timothy 6:12, which encourages believers to “fight the good fight of faith” and to hold firmly to the eternal life to which they have been called, ensuring that external pressures do not divert your focus from this vital truth.
As we conclude this morning, I would like to offer two recommendations for maintaining your spiritual anchor, particularly through the practice of recognizing God’s presence. When faced with discouragement and the enemy’s whispers suggesting that God has abandoned you, view this as an opportunity to actively engage with His presence. This was exemplified by Paul and Silas, who, despite their imprisonment, chose to sing praises to God, thereby affirming their faith. Engaging in the practice of His presence daily fosters a renewed awareness of His nearness. For instance, when you find yourself alone in your car, speaking the Word of God aloud serves as a powerful form of confession. By aligning your thoughts and declarations with God’s truth, you reinforce your connection to Him. Therefore, make it a habit to confess His Word regularly, as this practice will help you remain anchored in His presence amidst life’s challenges.
It is essential to communicate to the Divine that His teachings reside within your heart and are consistently on your lips.
The scripture emphasizes that the book of the Law should remain ever-present in your speech, as it is through continuous meditation on these teachings, both day and night, that one can fully adhere to all that is prescribed within. This commitment to the Law is not merely a suggestion; it is a directive that promises prosperity and success as a direct result of such dedication. The act of vocalizing these truths is a vital practice in cultivating a conscious awareness of His presence, as it is through the spoken word that one can truly engage with the divine.
By consistently affirming the word of God, you align yourself with His will, effectively taking a stand against any adversarial forces. When the teachings of God are absent from your speech, you find yourself in a state of uncertainty, caught between conflicting beliefs. However, by declaring your faith and allegiance to God’s promises, you make it clear where your loyalties lie, thereby reinforcing your identity as a believer. This principle is echoed in Psalm 91, where the psalmist proclaims trust in the Lord as a refuge and fortress. The act of declaring such truths not only serves as a personal affirmation of faith but also activates His divine presence, ensuring that you are shielded from harm and enveloped in His protection.
It is essential to engage in the practice of confessing God’s word consistently, as this serves a significant purpose in our spiritual journey. To facilitate this, we have developed an anchored confession that will be distributed shortly. It is crucial that you take this confession with you from this service and place it in a visible location, such as your wardrobe or dressing table. By doing so, you will be reminded of it regularly, perhaps even while applying your makeup. Instead of allowing your thoughts to dwell on those who may not acknowledge you, focus on proclaiming the word of God. This practice not only reinforces your faith but also helps you remain anchored in your relationship with God. When you have completed your confession, the opinions of others become inconsequential, as you have already engaged in a meaningful dialogue with the Divine.
Recently, while praying in the spirit, I found myself sitting at the edge of my bed, facing a blank wall. In that moment, I felt a prompting from God to place something there that I could read periodically. Inspired by this revelation, I approached PT and suggested that we collaborate on creating a confession for the entire congregation. This initiative was not merely for my personal benefit; it was a response to what God had communicated to me. I encourage you to select a confession that resonates with you, one that you can recite frequently. It is vital that this affirmation is always within your sight, rather than tucked away in a diary. By keeping it visible, you will be reminded to speak it aloud regularly, reinforcing your faith and commitment to God’s word.
This morning, I would like to engage in a conversation with someone regarding our aspirations for the year ahead. Many of us have set specific goals that we wish to achieve, and it is essential to articulate these ambitions clearly, as we discussed in December. Rather than simply filing them away, it is crucial to display them prominently, ensuring they remain visible in our daily lives. For instance, if your target is to reach a turnover of fifty million dollars each month, write it down and place it on a wall in your office or personal space. If you feel hesitant to display it publicly, consider keeping it in your room, where it can serve as a constant reminder. Each time you affirm this goal, you can declare it with conviction, invoking the power of faith to manifest your desires.
Moreover, if you aspire to acquire a beautiful home this year, seek out an image that closely resembles your dream house. The internet offers a plethora of free resources where you can download such images. Once you have found the perfect representation, place it in a location where you will see it frequently, reinforcing your vision with positive affirmations. By consistently focusing on what God has placed in your heart and aligning your confessions with His promises, you are actively participating in the process of bringing the intangible into reality. As you visualize and declare your intentions, you will witness the transformation of your dreams into tangible outcomes. This year, many will embark on new ventures, whether it be starting a business or taking ownership of a property that once existed only in their imagination. Let us celebrate these milestones together, affirming our faith and commitment to achieving our goals.
Today, we engage in the activation of divine presence through the act of praise, a concept that is well illustrated in Acts 16:25. The Scriptures further emphasize this in Ephesians 5:18, which advises against excessive drinking, instead urging believers to be filled with the Spirit. This filling of the Spirit is expressed through communication with one another in the form of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, as well as through singing and making melody in our hearts directed towards the Lord. Verse 20 of the same chapter encourages us to give thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is essential to cultivate a daily practice of singing and worshiping God, rather than reserving such expressions solely for church gatherings.
In our modern context, many individuals find themselves distracted by various forms of entertainment, such as YouTube, often leading to a sense of emptiness or discontent. Instead of spending time on content that does not nourish the spirit, one should seek to ignite divine presence through uplifting music. Utilizing features that allow for continuous play of worship songs can facilitate a deeper connection with God, even when one struggles to recall specific songs. In moments of distress, like those experienced by Paul and Silas in prison, it is crucial to remember that God can inspire a song in our hearts, even in the darkest hours. By immersing ourselves in worship, we can experience a profound reassurance of His presence, empowering us to face challenges with renewed confidence and the assurance that we are not alone.
