After the pretense had subsided, Peter leaped into the water, and they made their way to the other side, where Jesus invited them to join him for breakfast. Following their meal, as we turn to verse 15, Jesus addressed a significant issue. While they were sharing breakfast, he turned to Simon and asked, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?” The term “these” could refer to fishing, the food, or any other worldly concern. Simon replied, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus then instructed him, “Feed my lambs.”
Jesus repeated the question, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?” This morning, I want to personalize this message for someone, perhaps using Pastor Debo as an example: “Debo, son of Omotunde, do you love me more than these?” I am confident that he will not feel pressured, as he is already demonstrating the love of God, making him a commendable example.
