YOUR WORLD NEEDS YOU

Your world is calling for your presence and contribution; I invite you to affirm this by stating, “My world needs me.” Repeat this affirmation once more: “My world needs me.” If you are accompanied by others, whether in a service or gathering, share this sentiment with your neighbor by expressing, “Your world needs you.” Indeed, our world is in urgent need of our engagement and support, perhaps more than ever before. In this context, I will be referencing Romans chapter 8, specifically verses 14 to 22, which we have explored throughout this season. This passage offers profound insights into our identity and purpose.

The scripture begins with the assertion that those who are guided by the Spirit of God are recognized as the children of God. It emphasizes that we have not been given a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of adoption, allowing us to address God as “Abba, Father.” This spirit of adoption is crucial for understanding our new identity and living in accordance with it. As we continue to read, we find that the Spirit affirms our status as God’s children and heirs, sharing in the glory of Christ, especially through our shared sufferings. The passage highlights that the current struggles we face pale in comparison to the glory that will be revealed in us. Furthermore, it notes that creation itself eagerly anticipates the revelation of the children of God, underscoring the importance of our role in the world. This is why I emphasize that your world truly needs you.

The passage emphasizes the profound anticipation that creation holds for the revelation of the children of God, as articulated in verse 19. It states that the creation earnestly awaits this unveiling, which signifies a pivotal moment in the divine plan. Verse 20 further elucidates that creation was subjected to futility, not by its own choice, but due to the will of the one who imposed it, all while holding onto hope. This hope is elaborated in verse 21, which assures that creation itself will ultimately be liberated from the shackles of corruption, entering into the glorious freedom that belongs to the children of God. Verse 22 poignantly captures the essence of this struggle, indicating that the entirety of creation is in a state of groaning and laboring, akin to the pains of childbirth, as it awaits this transformative revelation.

The critical message conveyed in verse 19 is that the earnest expectation of creation is directed towards the manifestation of God’s children. This anticipation raises the question of what exactly creation is waiting for, which is the unveiling of individuals like you and me. God desires to reveal each of us to our respective worlds, underscoring the importance of our presence and purpose in today’s society. In times of crisis, God calls upon His agents—those who are willing to step forward and fulfill His divine purpose. It is essential to recognize that we are agents of God in a world fraught with challenges. As we navigate through these difficulties, we are tasked with sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it is through the demonstration of the supernatural that we can effectively proclaim this message. Our lives must reflect this calling, especially in environments where darkness and oppression may prevail, as we are empowered to bring light and hope to those around us.

This is a pivotal moment for the manifestation of your voice, as it is through you that the chains of demonic oppression can be broken, ushering in a new era of liberation. The world is in dire need of our contributions now more than ever, and we possess the solutions that can bring about transformative change. Silence is not an option; our actions must reflect the divine power that resides within us. Signs and wonders are meant to accompany those who are actively engaged in their faith, moving forward with purpose and direction. It is essential to recognize that the creation itself eagerly anticipates the revelation of the children of God, and as believers, we are called to fulfill this expectation.

Every genuine follower of Christ is inherently designed for the advancement of God’s kingdom, equipped by the Holy Spirit to fulfill this divine mandate. The Holy Spirit seeks to empower us for the proclamation of the Gospel and the resolution of the challenges we face, but this requires an awakening to our true identity, which is rooted in the supernatural. Jesus emphasized that we would be recognized by our fruits, which should not only reflect our character but also manifest as divine interventions in our lives. The pressing question we must confront is: what problems are we actively addressing? While many may seek assistance for their own issues, it is crucial to remember that our calling extends beyond self-interest; we are meant to be conduits of God’s supernatural solutions for the world around us.

The Apostle Paul addresses the topic of spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians, specifically in chapter 12, beginning with verse 1. He emphasizes the importance of understanding these gifts, stating, “Now dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about special abilities the Spirit gives us, I don’t want you to misunderstand this.” This message is crucial, as it highlights the need for clarity regarding the spiritual abilities bestowed upon believers. Many individuals mistakenly perceive these gifts as tools solely for personal benefit, such as addressing health issues or financial difficulties. However, Paul underscores that the purpose of these spiritual gifts extends far beyond individual concerns; they are meant to serve the broader community and fulfill a divine mission.

In the context of the Great Commission, Jesus instructs His followers to engage actively with the world. In Mark 16:15, He commands, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” This directive is accompanied by a promise of signs that will accompany those who believe, including the casting out of demons, speaking in new tongues, and healing the sick. These actions are not merely for personal gain but are intended to provide solutions and hope to a world in need. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit equips believers to fulfill this mission, demonstrating that their spiritual gifts are vital for addressing the challenges faced by society. Thus, the call to action is clear: believers are to utilize their spiritual abilities to make a meaningful impact in their communities, reflecting the love and power of Christ in every aspect of life.

The scripture emphasizes that those who believe in His name will be empowered to perform remarkable acts, such as casting out demons and liberating those who are oppressed. This empowerment extends beyond mere verbal expressions; it encompasses the ability to communicate effectively with both the people of this world and the divine. Speaking in new tongues signifies a transformative experience, where believers are equipped by the Holy Spirit to convey messages that resonate with the hearts of individuals while simultaneously maintaining a connection with God. This duality of communication is essential, as it allows believers to bridge the gap between earthly concerns and heavenly guidance, fostering a deeper understanding and relationship with the divine.

Furthermore, the passage highlights the spiritual authority granted to believers, enabling them to confront and dispel harmful influences in their surroundings. The assurance that even if they encounter danger, such as consuming something harmful, it will not affect them underscores the protective power bestowed upon them. The act of laying hands on the sick and witnessing their recovery is a testament to the divine presence accompanying their efforts. The call to preach the gospel everywhere—be it in local neighborhoods, workplaces, or public transport—reinforces the notion that believers are tasked with spreading hope and healing in all aspects of life. The collective efforts of organizations, including The Elevation Church and various NGOs, further illustrate the importance of community engagement in addressing the diverse needs of society, demonstrating that the world indeed requires the active participation of believers to manifest the signs and wonders that can only arise through the Holy Spirit.

In the current post-COVID landscape, it is imperative to acknowledge the profound emotional and physical instability that many individuals are experiencing. The pandemic has undeniably shaken our world, highlighting the urgent need for divine intervention and support. While it is essential to pursue various avenues for stability—such as financial resources, skills, and other tangible means—there exist challenges that transcend these solutions. These are the issues that only the Holy Spirit can address, emphasizing the necessity for compassion and understanding in our interactions with others. The complexities of life often require a spiritual approach, as there are certain burdens that material wealth cannot alleviate. Thus, it is crucial for us to recognize the power of the Holy Spirit in overcoming these obstacles, as our society is in dire need of such transformative assistance.

Moreover, the teachings found in the Bible, particularly in 1 Corinthians 2:7, remind us that spiritual gifts are bestowed upon each individual for the purpose of mutual support and assistance. In a time when many have become increasingly self-absorbed, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic, it is vital to shift our focus outward. The crisis has fostered a tendency towards selfishness, as individuals grapple with their own challenges. However, God calls us to transcend our personal struggles and to engage with the broader community, which is rife with needs and suffering. By embracing our roles as agents of the Holy Spirit, we can contribute to healing and restoration, fostering a spirit of unity and compassion in a world that desperately requires it.

In a world rife with suffering, poverty, and various forms of bondage, we witness countless individuals grappling with crises and a profound lack of peace. The biblical text from 1 Corinthians 12:7 highlights the importance of spiritual gifts bestowed upon each individual, intended to foster mutual support and assistance. Among these gifts, the Spirit imparts wisdom to some, enabling them to provide sound counsel that can guide others out of confusion. Others receive special knowledge, while some are endowed with remarkable faith. Additionally, the Spirit grants the ability to heal, perform miracles, prophesy, discern spiritual messages, speak in unknown languages, and interpret these languages. It is crucial to recognize that it is the singular Spirit who allocates these gifts, determining the unique abilities each person possesses.

The significance of verse 11 in 1 Corinthians 12 cannot be overstated, as it emphasizes that the Holy Spirit alone decides the distribution of gifts among individuals. This underscores the necessity for each person to value and appreciate the spiritual gifts they have received. It is essential to engage in self-discovery to uncover the manifestations of the Spirit within our lives. Many individuals may experience divine communication through dreams, and it is vital to prepare oneself for such encounters. Simple practices, such as light evening meals and prayer before sleep, can create an environment conducive to receiving these messages. While some may find this notion amusing, the underlying message is serious: we must position ourselves to be instruments of God’s will, ready to serve and bless others in their times of need.

It is essential to recognize the profound significance of our individual roles in the world around us. Each of us is called to acknowledge that our existence is intertwined with the needs of others; your world requires your active participation, just as my world necessitates my engagement. This call extends beyond mere acts of kindness or philanthropy, which, while commendable, do not encompass the full scope of our responsibilities. We are tasked with addressing spiritual dimensions that can only be navigated by those who possess a connection to the divine, who have access to the gifts of the Spirit, and who can harness the power of God. At this moment, it is our duty to intervene in these critical areas, as we are uniquely positioned to do so.

As we contemplate our supernatural mission, it is vital to embrace three key concepts that will guide our understanding and actions. First and foremost, we must cultivate an extraordinary sense of compassion, as this is a prerequisite for witnessing the manifestation of God’s power in our lives. The Scriptures remind us that it is God who works within us to fulfill His divine purpose, and we must actively seek His assistance in nurturing this compassion. Reflecting on what stirs our hearts is crucial; we must ask ourselves whether we are becoming increasingly self-centered or if we are genuinely moved by the struggles of others. This introspection will not only enhance our spiritual journey but also empower us to fulfill our mission of healing, liberating, and sharing the gospel, thereby demonstrating the active presence of God’s power in our lives.

Across the globe, we have all experienced the challenges of lockdowns and shutdowns, leading to prolonged periods of isolation with only our immediate family members. This extended confinement can create a perception that our existence is limited to our nuclear family, fostering a sense of detachment from the broader world. However, it is essential to recognize that there is a vast and diverse world beyond our immediate surroundings. Many individuals have found themselves shopping alone or only with a close friend or partner, yet this does not imply that our lives should be confined to these interactions. The reality is that even while working from home and engaging in daily activities within a limited sphere, our lives are interconnected with countless others across different continents and cultures, each with their own unique needs and experiences.

It is crucial to understand that our potential for impact extends far beyond our immediate environment. The teachings of Jesus remind us that we are called to be witnesses starting from where we are, whether that be in our neighborhoods, schools, or workplaces. This mission is not restricted by geographical boundaries; rather, it encourages us to cultivate a deep sense of compassion for those around us, particularly for those who may not yet know the message of hope and salvation. Reflecting on our own actions, we must ask ourselves when we last reached out to share the love of Christ with someone who is unsaved. Engaging in conversations that convey the message of Jesus and sharing personal testimonies can be powerful ways to extend our influence and fulfill our purpose, beginning with the relationships we have in our immediate circles and expanding outward to the farthest reaches of the earth.

The manifestation of God’s power in one’s life is not a random occurrence; it requires intentionality and a genuine engagement with one’s spiritual gifts. Many individuals express their frustrations, stating that despite their prayers and diligent study of the Scriptures, they do not witness the transformative fire of faith in their lives. The critical inquiry here is not merely about the absence of visible results but rather about how one is utilizing the resources and gifts currently at their disposal. It is essential to cultivate compassion within one’s heart, as this quality is pivotal in allowing God’s gifts to flourish. Unlike a Christmas tree, which serves only as a decorative object without providing any nourishment, God desires that individuals embody the essence of fruitful trees, such as mango or orange trees, which offer sustenance and refreshment to those around them.

Compassion is the key that unlocks the potential of the gifts one possesses, enabling them to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. It prompts individuals to empathize with those who are suffering, oppressed, or in need, rather than remaining indifferent to their struggles. The question of where one is creating value in the world is paramount, as it reflects the true purpose of one’s gifts. It is important to recognize that not all divine interventions come from heavenly beings; often, God commissions people to fulfill the roles that others expect angels to undertake. Throughout biblical history, angels have served as messengers of God, guiding individuals like Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, through moments of uncertainty. In today’s world, many find themselves in confusion, and it is through acts of compassion and service that one can provide clarity and direction, embodying the very essence of divine purpose.

It is through the divine gifts of knowledge, prophecy, and wisdom that you may be called upon to address the confusion that permeates the lives of others, assisting them in establishing their priorities and maintaining focus.

You might serve as the singular angelic presence in their journey, yet it is essential to reflect on whether you possess genuine compassion for those who are lost, disoriented, discouraged, or devoid of hope. The essence of this discussion lies in the understanding that without compassion for the hopeless individuals surrounding you, the gifts of wisdom and knowledge that could guide them toward fulfilling their destinies may not be bestowed upon you. It is my prayer that during this season, an extraordinary sense of compassion will be instilled in your heart, enabling you to reach out to those in need.

A community devoid of compassion will struggle to engage with the supernatural, as the desire to experience such realms is often rooted in empathy and understanding. The truth remains that a congregation lacking compassion will find little motivation to seek the extraordinary. In Matthew 9:36-38, the scripture illustrates this point vividly, as it recounts how Jesus, upon observing the multitude, was moved by compassion for them, recognizing their weariness and disarray, akin to sheep without a shepherd. This metaphor highlights their lack of direction and resources, which are essential provisions that a shepherd offers. Jesus’ compassionate gaze reveals the profound need for guidance and support, underscoring the critical role that empathy plays in fostering a community that aspires to walk in the supernatural.

The observation was made that individuals often resemble sheep without a shepherd, prompting a response from Jesus to His disciples regarding the abundant harvest and the scarcity of laborers. He urged them to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth workers into His fields. In this season, the question arises: will you step forward as a laborer in God’s harvest? This entails trusting Him to instill compassion within your heart for those who are lost, the sick, the discouraged, the visually impaired, and anyone facing various disabilities or unique challenges. It is essential to cultivate a sense of compassion for individuals with special needs, as this is the focus of our discussion.

I encourage each of you to develop what I refer to as a “wheel of compassion,” a metaphorical tool that allows you to periodically assess where your heart is drawn. This wheel enables you to identify specific groups that require your attention and support, whether it be the sick and suffering, the impoverished, the lonely, or those who are incarcerated. God may be calling you to serve those who are confused, hopeless, or lost. The essence of this compassion is reflected in Matthew 14:14, where it is noted that upon seeing a multitude, Jesus was moved with compassion and healed their ailments. Compassion is the catalyst that reveals the unique gifts God has placed within you. Therefore, it is vital to reflect on what stirs your compassion and whom you feel called to assist.

Compassion is a profound indicator of one’s ability to assist others, particularly in the context of troubled marriages. When witnessing a relationship deteriorating, one must reflect on whether it stirs any emotional response within. This reaction can serve as a sign of a unique grace bestowed upon an individual, enabling them to aid others in resolving their marital challenges. Furthermore, encountering a believer who appears lost and immature in their spiritual journey should evoke a sense of compassion. It is essential to step in and provide guidance to such individuals, as this may reveal a shepherding gift that God intends to cultivate within you. The importance of this role cannot be overstated, as it contributes significantly to the spiritual maturity of those around you.

The biblical passage from 1 John 3:17-18 in the King James Version poses a critical question regarding the manifestation of God’s love within us. It emphasizes that if one possesses the means to assist others yet chooses to withhold compassion, it raises doubts about the presence of divine love in their heart. This notion underscores the necessity of trusting God to cultivate a deep and unusual compassion, particularly in this season. Additionally, there exists a strong correlation between the development of compassion and the practice of fervent intercession. When one’s heart is genuinely moved by the plight of others, it naturally leads to a desire to pray for their needs. This principle is exemplified in the account from the Acts of the Apostles, where Peter, upon encountering a man in need, declared that while he had no material wealth, he offered what he possessed in the name of Jesus, demonstrating the power of compassion in action.

Compassion is a profound gift that resides within each individual, serving as a catalyst for action and intercession on behalf of others. Even in the absence of material possessions, one is endowed with the invaluable resource of time, which can be dedicated to praying for those in need. Prayer is a powerful medium through which divine revelations and prophecies unfold, and it is in this sacred space that significant transformations occur. The act of prayer is not merely a ritual; it is a commitment to seek deliverance for others, particularly for those who may be experiencing delays in their lives, such as couples yearning for the blessing of children. I recall a period in my life when my wife and I devoted ourselves to praying for several couples, invoking the miraculous potential of faith, and witnessing the joy of answered prayers as some of them eventually welcomed their children.

In this current era, the necessity for fervent and unwavering intercession cannot be overstated. God relies on our prayers to fortify His kingdom in various regions around the globe. It is imperative that we cultivate a spirit of compassion for nations such as Great Britain, North America, China, and Nigeria, recognizing that our prayers can effectuate change and bring about divine intervention. Even if one feels they possess little in terms of worldly goods, the power of persistent and heartfelt prayer remains accessible to all. As illustrated in John 11:41-42, where Jesus expresses gratitude for being heard by the Father, our prayers can serve as a testament to faith, encouraging others to believe in the transformative power of divine intervention. Thus, let us engage in this noble pursuit of intercession, understanding that our compassion and prayers can lead to significant breakthroughs in the lives of those we hold dear.

You conveyed the message of divine intervention through the example of Jesus at Lazarus’s tomb, where His prayer was the catalyst for Lazarus’s resurrection. This act illustrates that it is through Jesus’s intercession that the dead were called forth, emphasizing the profound impact of prayer. In a similar manner, there are individuals today for whom God seeks someone to intercede, whether from afar or in close proximity, so that transformative changes may occur in their lives. The narrative in Acts 27 further reinforces this concept, as Paul recounts an angelic visitation that assured him of safety for himself and his companions during their perilous journey to Rome. The assurance that no one would perish was a direct result of Paul’s prayers, highlighting the protective power of intercession.

In light of this, it is imperative to recognize the urgency and joy in sharing the gospel. The call to preach the message of salvation is not merely a duty but a vital expression of compassion and urgency in our times. To experience the fullness of God’s power in our lives, one must cultivate a deep sense of compassion and engage in prayer, particularly on behalf of others. This form of intercession, as exemplified by Job, who prayed for his friends and saw his own circumstances transformed, underscores the importance of prioritizing the needs of others in our prayers. It is essential to understand that the effectiveness of prayer often lies not in the duration of our requests for personal needs but in our willingness to stand in the gap for those around us.

Transforming your own life often begins with standing in the gap for others, a profound act that not only benefits those around you but also enriches your own spiritual journey.

It is essential to remember that sharing the gospel should be approached with both joy and a sense of urgency. The signs and wonders that accompany our faith are intended to direct individuals toward God, rather than drawing attention to ourselves. When we engage in preaching the gospel, we create an environment where divine signs and wonders flourish, as our primary focus remains on leading others to a relationship with God. The gospel is the fundamental mission of the church and its believers, and when God places you in a position of influence, it is an opportunity to conduct meaningful work that aligns with this mission. In doing so, the power of God, along with divine wisdom and grace, is manifested through your actions.

Boldness in proclaiming the gospel often stems from personal encounters with the Holy Spirit, which are nurtured through prayer. As you engage in prayer, you may find yourself emboldened to declare the gospel more fervently, witnessing the release of God’s power in the lives of those around you. Taking the time to pray for individuals facing challenges—be it a struggling couple or a sick child—can lead to remarkable manifestations of God’s power through you. This active engagement in prayer and support not only allows you to preach the gospel effectively but also facilitates the introduction of others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. As Paul articulates in Romans 1:16, the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. It is crucial to consider those in your life, such as colleagues with whom you share laughter and camaraderie, and to recognize the importance of sharing the gospel with them. In doing so, you may witness God’s presence and power in ways that are truly transformative.

In Acts 4:33, the apostles boldly proclaimed the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, signifying their unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel with great authority. This passage emphasizes that the apostles did not merely share their message; they did so with a profound sense of conviction and confidence, which was accompanied by an abundance of grace. If one desires to experience this same grace in their life, it is essential to preach the gospel with vigor and consistency, seizing every opportunity to share the message of Christ. This includes utilizing various platforms, such as social media, to reach a wider audience. Despite the prevalence of discussions on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, where individuals often engage in debates about politics or societal issues, it is crucial to prioritize the proclamation of Jesus as Lord and to share personal testimonies of faith.

The significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection extends beyond personal prosperity or career success; it is fundamentally about the salvation of souls. The power of God, as demonstrated through Christ’s resurrection, serves as a model for how He desires to manifest His presence in the world today. When individuals actively participate in sharing this message, whether online or in person, they unlock a transformative power that can profoundly impact their lives. This season, as one engages in preaching the gospel, they can expect to witness the fulfillment of God’s power in their life, affirming the promise that through their efforts, the resurrection power of Christ will be made evident. Therefore, let us raise our hands in unity, embracing the call to share the gospel with fervor and dedication.
